1 out of 5 eggshot

Pros: cheap

Cons: gets HOT!
Replaced my old card with this one. I ran 85c on my old card. Ran this one and I started smelling something hot. I looked at my temp and it was over 102c. same setup gust a different card.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello,

That is certainly not a temperature we want to see, please contact us at 888-881-3842 so we can work with you on this matter.

Thank you,
Brandon B

3 out of 5 eggsPowerful,Inexpensive card.

Pros: Pretty Powerful card,Run's most newer games on high settings with decent framerates at lower resolutions,Decent temperatures under load/idle.

Cons: No Direct X 11 support,So if you are running windows 7/8 you won't get to use DX11.Not as powerful as i anticipated.
I have owned the card around 40 days and i am having Artifacting issues. Waiting on EVGA RMA,I am hoping they will take care of me.

You get what you pay for,Make sure if you buy this card that you register it's serial number immediately on evga's website. If you have any issues at all with the card RMA it as quick as you can.You might get lucky and won't have issues,I did unfortunately.

Other Thoughts: This is a great deal otherwise,But if your doing a budget build/Or just want to get this card because of the price purchase at your own risk. Save extra money and go with a dx11 card.

3 out of 5 eggsDead Weight

Pros: Plays the games i aimed it to play. Did a great job at it as well. Beast card.

Cons: Bad part about this card, it's MASSIVE. Lets include it eats ALOT of power. I have noticed that this card has serious, and i mean serious overheating issues.

1 out of 5 eggsAwful

Pros: Does almost anything

Cons: Unless you want to play games, that it won't do.

Other Thoughts: I picked this card up to replace one I had just like it had that finally burned out. I was wary of it since it was refurbished but I gave it the benefit of the doubt. Turns out it can't play any sort of video game for some reason or enough, making it a nice warm brick. Too bad I can't return it since it only has a one month return policy.

Figures.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello,

This card would still be under warranty. Please contact us at 888-881-3842 so we can work with you on this matter.

5 out of 5 eggsGood budget card

Pros: - Blower style fan
- SLI compatable
- Still one of my favorite looking card
- Plays games at 1080p
- Likes to be overclocked

Cons: - 235w tdp
- Massive heavy card
- Comes in a white box, no manuals/molex cables

Other Thoughts: Really good card for $70 after rebate. Great for a budget build, I bought this card way back in 2008 and decided to buy it again just to collect it.

I decided to throw it in my my sisters pc i5-2310 and fired up bf3. Left the setting at auto/medium at it ran multiplayer at 40-60 fps with vsync on at 1080p.

4 out of 5 eggsGood for BOINCing

Pros: Fast, I like the style of the ventilation sleeve, good value when on sale

Cons: pretty high power consumption, fan noise is slightly annoying after a few months.

Other Thoughts: For under $100, this card is a good value and is probably the best NVIDIA card you can find with an s-video out built in. I've been running the card almost non-stop at 100% for BOINC, paired with my now rather anemic Athlon 64 x 2. I can't play newer games due to the CPU bottleneck, but older titles that aren't CPU bottlenecked run well.
The GPU is a nice addition to my BOINC contributions and doesn't have any of the issues the Fermi architecture does.

5 out of 5 eggsSolid

Pros: For a refurbished card, and for a budget upgrade or budget build, this can do the job really well.
Most games you'll have to monkey with some settings and all that, but this card has no problem otherwise.
I get an average 25-30fps on most games with only lowering a few settings.

I have a small Mid ATX Cooler Master Centurion case, no cooling issues with this card thus far.
Runs cooler than my 9600GT did, then again I had to get this card as the 9600GT was slowly dieing.

Cons: Card does idle a bit warmer than most, usually around 45-50c when idle.

Other Thoughts: If you purchase this card you're DEFINITELY going to want EVGA Precision for fan control, the default auto-running fan at 40% is not enough for this card.
I have my fan set up to run at 50% all the time, and I adjust it when I play a game up to 65-70% depending how hot it gets from 65% fan speed, usually it won't hit over 60-63c under load.
If you purchase this card, definitely get EVGA Precision, it's highly worth it.

4 out of 5 eggsworth it for fun

Pros: even today this card takes care of games on 1920 by 1080 res. runs dead space 3 with no flaws @ x4 all settings up on my 42 inch tv , upgraded from a gtx 460 768mb and handles games better then I thought, great for dual monitor gaming on racing games for the same price you can get a radeon 7750 or gtx650 tho. card looks sweet :)

Cons: requires 8 pin plug, no 8 pin adapter ,no hdmi, no dx11

Other Thoughts: if your just tired of frame rates @ 30 on high settings in big screen tv this will be perfect and in expensive

5 out of 5 eggsNice ON SLI

Pros: Wow on SLI it's a beast. I run BF3 maxed and no glitch at all. For an old cart, this card do anything I want for now !

Cons: The only cons I've found is heat. If you don't have a good ventilation in your case, all your system will Have Heat Problem. I've opened my case because while playing I've reached 69C with my I5-3570kl

2 out of 5 eggsSerious long-term issues

Pros: Fantastic performance for the 200 series. While the card worked, I absolutely loved it. Looks amazing in a case.

Cons: I purchased this exact card as soon as it came out. A little over a year later, I started having random freezing issues with my computer. Running GPU-Z and CPU-Z, I found that heat wasn't an issue with my machine, so I was confused. Soon my system would start having horrible graphical artifacts that covered my screen any time I would start any game. A search of forums found that a lot of other users were having issues identical to mine with this exact model of card. After about a year of use, a lot of them were dying. I've been a diehard NVIDIA fan (and EVGA motherboards, video cards, etc!) for years, but the purchase of this card has been my one regret. I spent a ton of money on this when it came out (depsite its MASSIVE weight, size, and temperature issues) to have it die. Do yourselves a favor, and spend a few extra bucks to get one of the newer, smaller, and cooler cards like a 650 that will hopefully be a bit more stable over a longer period (and not require you to have a full size case, because trust me, this card is MASSIVE...the pictures don't do it justice!)

Other Thoughts: EVGA makes fantastic products, but unfortunately the GTX 280 cards had known issues. Budget cards are tempting, but spend the extra cash and pick up a 650 or 660. You'll get a lot more longevity for your money.
