Extreme overclockers Vince "k|ngp|n" Lucido and Illya "TiN" Tsemenko are not satisfied with the overclocking capabilities of current generation graphics cards. They want overclocking capabilities and performance that exists beyond what is traditionally considered enthusiast level. To overcome this, they began to work with EVGA on designing a new card from the ground up that is 100% focused on being the single fastest and greatest overclocking card on the block. This was accomplished with the EVGA GeForce GTX 580 Classified which is based on GeForce GTX 580 GPU.

This card features a 14+3 Phase Power Design that can deliver over 1000W of power, and the redesigned cooling solution with an 8CM fan improves efficiency by as much as 30% (compared to the standard cooler). The NEC Proadlizer, Super Low ESR SP-Cap capacitors, and high frequency 3MHz shielded inductors provide clean and precise voltage control, and the onboard voltage probe points let you monitor them with ease. Of course, full support for the EVGA EVBot means that you can overclock and monitor your card on the fly, and a special OC BIOS enables extreme overclocking mode.

The EVGA GeForce GTX 580 Classified is engineered and designed to perform for everyone, from gamers to the top overclocking enthusiasts in the world. The dual slot top cooled design means that you do not need to worry about space or motherboard layout limitations, and this card supports everything from single card up to 4-way SLI out of the box.

1 out of 5 eggsPoor longevity!

Pros: Worked great for 1 year.

Cons: purchased in 12/7/2012, and starting in Q1 2014 had intermittent issues and then in April the video card started freezing up the entire PC. Has been is a very clean environment in a PC build that's maintained and kept clean and cool as well. for $500 I'm VERY disappointed!!

Manufacturer Response:

2 out of 5 eggsDefective

Pros: The card itself is high end, and when it works, it can run any modern video game title I throw at it on full settings.

Cons: When it works. The video card crashes for me whenever I play a graphic intensive game. It gives me a driver error. I thought it was the cooling in my case, so I bought a top of the line case and re-did the internal wiring as to not restrict air flow. While heat may be the cause of this glitch, the case did not solve it entirely (although, it made the crashes much less frequent).

I bought this on New Egg's iron return policy, so I'm going to return it and get a better card (along with a better heatsink :):):). I think my card was just a lemon, but I wouldn't take any chances -- not to mention that there's better video cards out there, even at a premium.

Manufacturer Response:

If you have not already returned the product, I would suggest trying the new drivers 310.90 that were just released.

Thank you,
Brandon B

5 out of 5 eggsBEASTLY!

Pros: Just got this bad boy and what a beast!! Running along side a gtx 460v2 and runs pretty much 2x exactly in my 3d rendering....see other thoughts.

Cons: It's huge but you should expect that. The two 8-pin and one 6-pin PCI-E plug requirements make cable management a bit tricky but no big deal. Sounds like a vacuum with the fan at 100% but that's not really a con to me as it usually doesn't get that high and I have headphones if need be.

Other Thoughts: I bought this bad boy over a gtx 660 TI because it's slightly faster in CUDA rendering and also it's 3gb of 384bit vram so it was a no brainer. Only $350 after rebates so what a steal since I see it is back up to $530 at the time of writing this. This will be rendering 24/7 when needed while I use my gtx460 for games/ regular pc it.

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing card but with a price.

Pros: This card is amazing, It is very quite when running and takes up less space the the evga 460 2 win card.

It also down clocks itself when not in use further saving both power and heat production.

Cons: Evga states you need a minimum 600 Watt power supply with 43 amps on the 12 volt rail. I am here to tell you, you need more.

I was measuring power draw using 3d mark 06 since I am on xp and doing a shader fill.

The card was hooked up to a 650 watt ultra powersupply with 40 Amps on the 12 volt line.

The card at all stock settings was pulling over 600 watts of power by itself.

I tested this 3 times before it killed my powersupply.

So make sure you have a quality powersupply I just purchased an PC Power and Cooling Silencer Mk II 750W to make sure I had enough power

Other Thoughts: This videocard needs 2 8pins and 1 6 pin so make sure your powersupply has enough connectors.

Interestingly you can hook up evga's external overclocker and play around with your videocard without using software. That is cool.
