Based on the much anticipated new architecture Kepler (the successor to the Fermi architecture), the NVIDIA GTX 680 is not only the world’s fastest GPU but also the most power efficient one. The streaming multiprocessor is redesigned for optimal performance per watt. GPU Boost technology is also employed to dynamically increase clock speed to improve performance within the card's power budget.

With GTX 680, gaming is smoother. FXAA and the new TXAA eliminate jaggies. Games get super smooth edges without tanking the performance. Adaptive V-Sync improves upon a feature that many gamers swear by. So you can play with V-sync enabled and not worry about sudden dips in framerate. Finally, a single GPU now powers a full NVIDIA Surround setup plus an accessory display. There is simply no better way to play a racing game or flight simulator. Add in NVIDIA PhysX technology, and the GTX 680 delivers an amazingly rich gaming experience. For upgraded gaming experience, SLI technology lets you link up to three GeForce GTX 680s together.

In addition to the EVGA GeForce GTX 680, EVGA is also introducing a new version of its popular "Precision" overclocking software: EVGA Precision X. Designed from the ground up to support the latest GPU technologies, EVGA Precision X redefines what overclocking software should be. This program allows you to fine tune your EVGA graphics card, including GPU Clock speed, GPU Voltage, Memory Clock speed and Fan speed.

  • newegg Kepler GPU Architecture NVIDIA's Kepler GPU architecture has been designed from the ground up not just for maximum performance in the latest DirectX 11 games, but optimal performance per watt. The new SMX streaming multiprocessor is twice as efficient as the prior generation and the new geometry engine draws triangles twice as fast. The result is world class performance and the highest image quality in an elegant and power efficient graphics card.
  • newegg NVIDIA GPU Boost Up until now, GPUs have operated at a fixed clock speed when playing 3D games, even if they have the potential to run faster. GPU Boost intelligently monitors graphics work load and increases the clock speed whenever possible. The result is that the GPU always performs at its peak and you get the highest framerate possible.
  • newegg NVIDIA Adaptive Vertical Sync Nothing is more distracting than framerate stuttering and screen tearing. The first tends to occur when framerates are low, the second when framerates are high. Adaptive V-Sync is a smarter way to render frames. At high framerates, V-sync is enabled to eliminate tearing, at low frame rates, it's disabled to minimize stuttering. It gets rid of distractions so you can get on with gaming.
  • newegg NVIDIA Surround with Up To Four Monitors Nothing is as breathtaking as playing your favorite games across three monitors. At 5760 x 1080, the expanded field of view fully engages human peripheral vision and provides for the most immersive experience in racing and flight simulators. Add in a fourth display to keep tabs on chat, email or web while you are gaming.
  • newegg Two New Anti-aliasing Modes: FXAA and TXAA Anti-aliasing smoothes out jagged edges but can be demanding on framerates. FXAA is a new antialiasing technology that produces beautiful smooth lines with minimal performance impact. And with Kepler based GPUs, you'll be able to enable FXAA in hundreds of game titles through the NVIDIA Control Panel. The second mode, TXAA, is an in-game option that combines MSAA, temporal filtering, and post processing for even higher visual fidelity.
  • newegg NVIDIA 3D Vision Ready NVIDIA 3D Vision brings a fully immersive, stereoscopic 3D experience to the PC. A combination of high-tech wireless glasses and advanced software, 3D Vision transforms hundreds of PC games into full stereoscopic 3D. Get up to 2x monitor and keyboard brightness with NVIDIA 3D LightBoost technology*. In addition, you can enjoy 3D movies and 3D digital photographs from 3DVisionLive.com in eye popping, crystal-clear quality. (*Requires NVIDIA 3D LightBoost monitor or notebook.)

5 out of 5 eggsUpdated Review

Pros: An absolutely incredible GFX card, maxes out EVERY game out with NO issues what so ever.

Cons: Sadly, exactly one year and one day later.. This card is going bad on me, massive over heating issues and I have noticed it seems like some liquid has been spilled on it though I have no liquids around or inside my PC.. Air cooled PC custom built
I don't think EVGA will RMA it sadly.. Wish they would though because I never was mailed the free game and I've purchased all my GFX cards from them..

Other Thoughts: i7-2600k 3.4ghz cpu

5 out of 5 eggsImpressive

Pros: Powerful. Looks sharp. Cools well. Silent on low load. Seems to be built with some quality which isn't very common these days.

Cons: Loud on high load, but that's pretty normal for video cards. Will not fit in many mid tower cases.

Other Thoughts: Overall, this is a very impressive card and I would absolutely recommend it.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat card!

Pros: Slapped a water block on and have the card at 1254mhz, never gets above 40 C. Runs most games based out at or above 60 fps. If the games are more demanding I ramp up to ultra and drop fps to 30. But that happens rarely.

Cons: Really wish it had gpu boost 2.0....

5 out of 5 eggsAs fast as the GTX 770

Pros: Solidly Built
Great Cooler design
Looks fantastic
Comes with Backplate

Cons: Long Card but that is to be expected

Other Thoughts: I have overclocked this card using EVGA Precision to +80 on the core clock and +450 on the vram. This gives me the boost speeds of 1241mhz core clock and 6916mhz vram. This overclock is battlefield 3 stable and my temps sit at 65c with a custom fan profile. This makes this gtx 680 just as fast as the gtx 770 if not faster. I was very suprised i was able to overclock the Vram this far as it is just about to the 7000mhz of the new gtx 770 which has the fastest vram ever used on a GPU. The card also has a quiet fan. The only sound it makes is a slight sound of air moving. No wines, grinds, hums or anything of the sort.

5 out of 5 eggsBasically awesome...

Pros: Lets me play Crysis 2 completely maxed out and fold like a boss. Runs cool enough and looks good doing it.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: Runs at about 70C at full load. It's pretty big so make sure you have the room and adequate power supply connections to run it.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat cards

Pros: I have two of these and I suspect even if I had just one, it would run everything I have on maximum.

I've never had a game dip below 30fps and most games play above 60fps.

Witcher 2 maxed out ubersampling, two of these run it from 40-60fps at all times.

BF3 is a joke for these cards, it handles it maxed out handily.

Metro Last Light is the only game it struggles with on max settings and it still gets between 30-40fps. In other words totally playable.

Cons: The top card runs really hot even though I have great airflow, the bottom card however runs very cool.

Other Thoughts: I'm probably going to buy a new case and attempt to provide much better airflow for these cards, both with a better case and with much better fans.

5 out of 5 eggsgood GPU

Pros: Very Good GPU. Plays anything on MAX settings.
On Crysis 3 you can run ultra with a bit of AA
If you're trying to get a card that runs max with a the 500-600 Dollar mark. Get this one or the GTX 680 classified.

Cons: Really HUGE. Make sure you have enough room in your case or it might not fit. It's not a problem with me because i have more then enough room for another one of these bad boys.

Other Thoughts: Make sure you have at least a 600 watt power supply.

5 out of 5 eggsA VERY SOLID CARD - Deserving of all it's praise

Pros: I've upgraded from two 1GB ATI Radeon HD 5870's in crossfire, to two new EVGA GTX 680 4GB FTW edition 4GB cards in SLI. My system is an x58 running a liquid cooled gulftown i7 980x 6-core processor clocked to 4.2 GHz. There's an 875 watt PSU and 24GB of Kingston HyperX 1600 RAM (triple channel). It's a capable machine for a MicroATX PC. I game at 1080p on a 2ms Samsung monitor.

So I finally went green and switched to Nvidia. The Radeon HD5870's were OEM and I was actually very content with their performance over a decent span of time. However, AMD has SERIOUS driver issues that make a person want to rip their hair out... I could not take the updates anymore. Also, with several recent games such as Skyrim and a few other titles, the limited video memory was making play quality unacceptable.

There are many perks to the EVGA GTX 680's running in SLI. I was blown away with the quality difference in a great number of games. The Witcher 2, Skyrim, Battlefield 3, Arkham City, and Metro 2033 were being absolutely man-handled by the 680's. All games were played at MAX settings (or even higher through tweaks/mods). I had the Witcher 2 maxed out AND had ubersampling turned ON and these cards still ran the game very smooth, locked at 60 FPS.

My idle temps were ~34 C and ~38 C which is very nice. The cards are constructed and fashioned well. They are smaller than I had imagined. They do not generate noise. They are INDEED dual slot and no larger! (even with the backplate) The cards have a nice feature in the design of the heatsink shroud: the cards are slightly recessed at the fan end of the enclosure and this allows air to enter a bit easier if your PC case is compact.

EVGA customer support is incredible. They are good people. It is great that these cards come with a 3 year warranty too.

Cons: Arkham City had occasional stutters, but they were not offensive or disruptive and I don't believe the GPU's were to blame.
LA Noire ran noticeably better but there was just something off about the experience... the camera panned in awkward ways and it gave the illusion of lag.
Nvidia's new Vsync tech seems better left unused.
If you enter the Nvidia settings and set the cards for "maximum performance" instead of "adaptive" your cards will not save any energy and will stay at max video clock frequency state - potentially causing heat issues. My temps rose from ~34 C and ~38 C all the way up to ~46 C and ~54 C.

And the obvious... The cost is insane. It is the best single GPU card out right now though to be fair.

Other Thoughts: The new Metro game comes out in two weeks or so. Metro Last Light. I wish that I already had the game now so that I could really see what these 680's were fully capable of. I will try to update this review when I test the cards running on the new Metro game.
