3 out of 5 eggsInexpensive way to get away from onboard

This review is from: EVGA 02G-P3-2619-KR GeForce GT 610 2GB 64-Bit DDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready Video Card

Pros: Low-Profile ready, easy to install. Great for 1-up on a dated pizza case system. Nice software package. Great customer support.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: It is what it is. A -$50 video card. Does well for the price tho..

4 out of 5 eggsacceptable

This review is from: EVGA 02G-P3-2619-KR GeForce GT 610 2GB 64-Bit DDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready Video Card

Pros: 48 Cuda cores. That is pretty good for a lower end card. However high end cards have Cuda cores in the hundreds.
2 GB of RAM on this card. Most cards with the same chipset only have 1 GB of RAM.

Cons: When I installed it, under windows 7, it gave jpgs a weird yellow tint, and I had to track down the fix, but it was just some obscure settings changes. Still, it was annoying that it had to be done in the first place.

Other Thoughts: I've never seen a video card that had voltage/amperage requirements written on the box. Many people say this has a mini HDMI, but mine has a full size HDMI, so I don't know. The only thing I can guess is that earlier ones had mini-HDMI and then EVGA got tired of people complaining, so newer one have full-size HDMI.

To be clear, this card is not for gamers. For everything else, this card is just fine.

5 out of 5 eggsBetter than expected

This review is from: EVGA 02G-P3-2619-KR GeForce GT 610 2GB 64-Bit DDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready Video Card

Pros: The price! Seriously, this is perhaps the best deal you're going to find. For what you spend, it actually can do quite a bit. The amount of games it can run and run well are surprisingly numerous. That said, I didn't buy this for gaming; it was simply an added bonus.

Plus it has a VGA port, for those of you who still have an older-school monitor.

For the most part, it plays quite nicely with most Linux distributions.

Cons: When I used the VGA port while running Linux, it would go to to a super-low resolution because it thought I was running a CRT monitor. Not only that, but there was no real driver fix. Thankfully, it was a simple fix with a DVI cable. This is not enough to dock any eggs, though. Just something to keep in mind.

Other Thoughts: I bought this for my first build. I spent most of the money on the motherboard and CPU, and pretty much skimped everywhere else. As previously stated, I didn't buy this for gaming. I actually bought it because it was cheap and it had a VGA port. It simply needed to be serviceable, nothing more.

This video card seriously surpassed all my expectations. This is PERFECT for first builds and budget gaming rigs.

2 out of 5 eggs

This review is from: EVGA 02G-P3-2619-KR GeForce GT 610 2GB 64-Bit DDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready Video Card

Pros: Inexpensive card that supports full 1920x1080 HD

Cons: I got one of these and noticed that after a few months, my PC would reboot every time I watched videos. After a few weeks of debugging, EVGA approved an RMA , and after being without my video card for two weeks I installed the RMA card and noticed that the new card also has the same problem. Then purely by chance I noticed that the cooling fan on the card was not spinning when the PC boots. If I spin to by hand, the card works fine. If for any reason the PC reboots, the fan will not start spinning by itself. EVGA has offered to RMA the card again, and I've decided to try another video card.

3 out of 5 eggsFunctional, but poor for gaming

This review is from: EVGA 02G-P3-2619-KR GeForce GT 610 2GB 64-Bit DDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready Video Card

Pros: Inexpensive, small form factor, no need for additional power connection.

Cons: Performance is weak in 3D applications. Even with 2GB of dedicated RAM and current drivers, this card is outperformed by a 3-year-old 1GB GTS 250 card. The card is perfectly adequate if you aren't expecting high framerates in gaming, but is not well-suited to 3D gaming.

3 out of 5 eggsSub-par

This review is from: EVGA 02G-P3-2619-KR GeForce GT 610 2GB 64-Bit DDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready Video Card

Pros: Price to performance is fair.

Cons: The price is low, and so is performance.

Other Thoughts: As a gamer, I was the sad owner of a Radeon HD 5450 and thought that I would be upgrading with this. Well, it was an upgrade of sorts...I got about 2 more FPS in almost every game. Dont be fooled by all the extra video memory...this card performs poorly. You're better off getting one of the more expensive 1GB cards that NVIDIA offers.

Manufacturer Response:

Hi,

The GT610 is our entry level 600 series card. For gaming we generally recommend the GTX650 or higher for that series.

Thank you,
Brandon B
