2 out of 5 eggsCan't say much for PowerColor, but Newegg rocks

Pros: Great price, decent specs, probably great if the drivers worked. If you're looking to upgrade your computer for Vista/7 Aero, this card is powerful enough.

Cons: Absolutely could not get the drivers to work. Finally thought I had it; computer booted, ran all choppy for about 10 seconds, shut down when I tried to move a window. Next boot was a bit better: 30 seconds. Then got it going for about 10 minutes, still all choppy, then another BSoD. In defense of PowerColor, I was attempting to install it on a computer running a beta version of Windows Server 2008 R2 (same family as Windows 7).

Other Thoughts: Jeesh, Newegg is just too darn good. At the time of purchase, the item had a replacement-only return policy. Yet, after I explained the situation to a Newegg support rep, I was able to exchange for a different card without question. No waiting on hold, no arguing, no pointless troubleshooting. This is why I always send my customers to Newegg. Proud to say my house is about 10% wood and 90% Newegg.

1 out of 5 eggsAlright until it fries

Pros: For an old AGP card, this wasn't too bad. It played many older games wonderfully. It also handled many intensive applications well.

Cons: 1. New games are a pretty much guaranteed no-go with this card. 2. This card, like my x1600 pro, decided to randomly die one day, out of the blue. 3. Let's not forget all the driver issues, either. 4. Also just like my x1600, this card enjoyed BSODing my computer and causing a whole outrageous list of problems and lock-ups.

Infinitely many more cons than pros with this card. Be ready to replace within months.

Other Thoughts: I got it for a pretty low price, I must say that. At the time I bought the card I was desperately seeking a replacement for my newly-fried x1600 Pro. What I found was perhaps an even worse card than the prior one. Instead of buying another AGP card for my moderately good system, I'm scrapping the whole stinking thing and I've already got a new system on its way to my house.

Newegg's service has been great, I have no beef with them. This is just a lousy card.

Manufacturer Response:

We're sorry you're having a difficult time with this card. Give our customer service a call and we'll find a way to make it right.

5 out of 5 eggsNew Life to an old PC

Pros: Great board for a good price. Runs like a champ. I put this in an old P4 2.4GHz, 2GB RAM machine running Windows 7 RC.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: This board was overkill for my machine, but it was only a few $ more than the other AGP video cards.

3 out of 5 eggsResolution not as specified

Pros: Inexpensive.

Cons: Fan... Specification states 2048x1536 resolution. The max resolution shows at 1856x1392. Check your LCD monitor native resolution before you buy. Don't buy if your LCD monitor native resolution is higher the max.....

5 out of 5 eggsWorks great

Pros: Excellent card, great price (fan will go bad on you after a year or so, so beware. If you suddenly start getting an unexplained blue-screen, check your fan and quickly buy an aftermarket cooler so you don't fry this card).
To the person below that rates himself as having a "High understanding:" Please...you couldn't install the drivers because they were "difficult?" Please don't rate yourself with high technical understanding as you mislead people reading these reviews.

Cons: The heatsink fan will go bad in about 1 1/2 years.

Other Thoughts: Great price on an excellent card.

5 out of 5 eggsNice, Cheap Card

Pros: I bought this card to replace a 9800pro that burnt out. It seems to perform pretty well for games like WoW, running much better than the old 9800. Can get 40 fps constant on decent settings.

Cons: none so far

Other Thoughts: Plugged in and had no issues related to the card, though I had reset my bios a few times trying to get the 9800 to work. My processor had reset at 800mhz, took me a while before I realized that was what was causing everything to go so slow. Thought it was the card.

If you have an old agp based system and the card burns out this would be a good buy.

2 out of 5 eggsHad potential

Pros: Cheap card for 512MB memory. Decent upgrade for older motherboards. Installation had no problems.

Cons: After running any 3D applicable program, the card would blackscreen, most often restarting the computer. If it didn't restart the computer, the VPU would kick in and reset the chip, due to the drivers it seems. Had to set the bus speed to 4x for it to run any longer than 30seconds. Even after that, and trying 5 different sets of drivers, the card still would not work properly for any longer than an hour.

Other Thoughts: Would just avoid this card. I'm sure there's something out there that's around the same price and more reliable than this.

4 out of 5 eggsOnly ATI AGP card that works with Win2k

Pros: I bought this card for older AGP computers running Windows 2000. Down loaded drivers for win2k from Powercolors web site where they are still availible. Copied them to a CD and then copied them to my son's computer and they installed without a problem. Perfomance is identical to the Sapphire 256meg card I replaced this with to try this one out on for at least 3 weeks untill NewEggs 30day replacement runs out. A pleasent surprise considering the Sapphires is 1400 versus 800 for the Powercolor. I also bought the Sapphire frome newegg and have not had any problems with it.

Cons: The drivers for Windows 2000 are not included on the driver disk. The box is indentical in information to a PCI express video card I bought for this computer a 17 months ago. It says it will work with Windows 2000, XP and is Vista ceritified. But it only comes with XP and Vista drivers now. No heat monitoring on this one either. NO overclocking ability, though I have never been able to get more than a couple of frames per second anyway.

Other Thoughts: This PCI card has been working for 17 months and I am worried because I have seen reviews where they have problems with fans failling around 18 months. Could have tried to use the old install disk from the PCI card since the drivers seem identical on the web site. I aways seem to wait too long to order from new egg. It took 5 days to get to get to me though neweeg shipped it the next day. It got to with in 11 miles of me by Friday, but did not get to me untill Monday. I have had only a very small problem with 3 purchases over the many years I have dealt with newwegg. And a lot of computer equipment I have bought from them. They are still my first choice when looking for computer parts.
