5 out of 5 eggsSurprised

Pros: I was pretty surprised how much this card was able to handle and little a difference I could see between my 4870 and 4650, but then again I was playing older games such as Age of Empires III and FEAR.

Cons: Nothing I can see of

4 out of 5 eggsGreat HD, really loud fan

Pros: Smooth 1080p and h264 playback. Works great for HTPC.

Cons: The stock fan is really loud, and at a higher pitch than most. In a SFF Dell GX620, it was unbearable.

Other Thoughts: Consider alternative cooling options. The fan power disconnects easily. If you have the room, mount a cooler fan.

4 out of 5 eggsDecent for HTPC usage

Pros: Slim, quiet. For those that say it's loud, yes you can hear the fan at full speed but it's not THAT loud. In a case 6 feet away and you're on the couch you don't hear it.

Cons: I don't game but from what I read this isn't a card to do gaming with. Plus I don't know what happened with mine but at one point the video cut out, I opened the case to check the card to readjust it, and it burned my finger pretty good. The fan stopped working and the card smelled. I let it sit for a few and it's been fine every since. If it wasn't for that I'd give it 5 eggs. For now I'm just keeping a watchful eye on it since I have 30 days to return it.

Other Thoughts: See above.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat step for gfx on my Dell 531s, bad for noise

Pros: Excellent graphical quality, a big step from the stock 531s graphics card.

Cons: Quite loud. In spite of being a low profile card, it requires you to swap out the back plate to fit in a low profile machine (low-profile back plate is provided).

Other Thoughts: This was a great increase in graphical performance for a low price. The noise is an issue for me because I also use this machine for music recording, so I need to purchase a low-noise or passive heat sink separately. If you use your machine for sound recording, this is something to be aware of.

3 out of 5 eggsFlawless 1080p@24hz

Pros: Flawless play back of all Bluray media, no dropped frames, no distored audio, just a beautiful picture!
Built in HDMI port with HDMI 1.3a support.

Cons: AMD does not certify this or any of the ATI 4000 Series cards with older Intel chipsets. I have a HP z545 which uses the 915p chipset. When installed on this board the audio is not supported through the HDMI. I have exchanges back and forth with AMD and Powercolor about this issue and still cannot get it to work. The problem is acknowledged by AMD with no plans to correct.

2 out of 5 eggsNot for gaming..

Pros: Speechless.

Cons: This video card is definitely not for gaming. It wouldn't even handle Street Fighter 640x480 res. Very Choppy trying to play 1080p and 720p movies.

Other Thoughts: this DDR2 version is a completely different video card compared to the DDR3 version, they should name it something else.

Manufacturer Response:

Please e-mail me directly at hugo@powercolor.com. I'd like to try and figure out why you're getting such bad performance since this card should have no problems performing in both of the things you mentioned. I know SF4 is a pretty CPU demanding game (the graphics aren't very stellar so they don't require much GPU power), so I'm thinking it could be something else causing your performance problems. According to the system requirements, an X1900 card should be able to play this game just fine... however they do also recommend a Core 2 Duo (at least 2ghz) as well. Any who, feel free to e-mail me and reference this review.

3 out of 5 eggsFast but whiny

Pros: - low profile
- HDMI
- inexpensive after rebate

Cons: - loud whiny fan

Other Thoughts: Overall a good low profile card but loud. Fit fine in my Optiplex 745. But even on the lowest stock speed, the fan is whiny and can be heard outside the cabinet with the doors closed (ridiculously loud at higher speeds). You can drop the speed from 32 -> 25 using a software mod for "tuning"hardware, which helps tremendously. Have not noticed a significant change in temps when used at HTPC at the new lower speed. Not used for gaming.

2 out of 5 eggsToo noisy for HTPC

Pros: No issues with installation of low profile bracket or operation in HTPC with 220W power supply. Big performance increase over Radeon 3450.

Cons: Too much noise even after using CCC to manually set the fan speed to minimum (32%). The problem is the nature of the sound. It's an irritating small fan whine which turns a formally quiet computer into a noisy one. Not recommended for HTPC use.

Other Thoughts: Returning card and trying SAPPHIRE 100253HDMI 4650 due to good reviews about low noise. I love to save money but in this case it's just not worth it over the life of the product.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Card for Dell GX620 SFF and larger.

Pros: Fits well in the Dell GX620 case. Low power needs and high performance. 60FPS solid in WoW with high settings (lower shadow). Video playback is smooth and solid. Works with Vista Ultimate 64 fine. Fan on the heat sink is solid and looks to last for a good while.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: If you looking to upgrade a Dell GX620, this card works great.

5 out of 5 eggshey Beavis

Pros: Sweet! packs a lot of punch for suich a small package! mid grade card for decent bux. Low profile and HDMI are the Icing on teh cake!

Cons: Fan is LOUDudududu. just open up CCC and you can control the speed manually ..currently im running about 23% fan speed and temps reach about 55c while playing NFS hot pursuit 2.

Other Thoughts: this things great for low pro cases. plus I think its the best (ati) low pro card you can get. ATI I love you!
