3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Was a good price, fanless, ran well enough.

Cons: It died on me about a year into use. Power Color sent me a refurbished one to replace it, after I sent mine in... And that went fine until just now - 2 weeks after the warranty ended, now it randomly crashes, freezing the computer with corruption. Doesn't cut it for me.

Manufacturer Response:

I apologize for the issues you've encountered with our product. Please feel free to contact me at jgaray@powercolor.com so that I may be able to assist you with your card.

Thank you,

Jonathan

5 out of 5 eggsGreat silent card

Pros: Silent gaming card. My last PC was way to loud. I took the time and money (but not too much money) to invest in a good case (Antec P182) and a silent GPU. All I hear is a quient hummmmm coming from the tower. All I need to do now is upgrade the CPU cooling solution to make it even more silent. I don't have a crazy monitor nor do I play super intense games like Crysis. Runs everything I play at max detail with smooth framerates (Global Agenda and Starcraft II)

Cons: Screen flickers in a weird way during windows bootup and during loading in games. On occasion it'll flicker while playing. No big deal because it happens so rarely.

Other Thoughts: I planned on there being a huge heatsink on the card and I planned on making sure my case had sufficient cooling. Do that and be careful not to bend the heatsink and you'll be fine.

Manufacturers want you to buy their card and have good experiences. There is bound to be a bad unit every so often and DOA's happen. It's statistically expected. Be prepared to RMA any component when ordering PC parts, and don't give bad reviews until you test a working card. I can understand being upset if the RMA'd card is bad too.

1 out of 5 eggsDOA

Pros: Silent

Cons: This card arrived DOA, read the reviews and look for something else with perhaps a bit of noise. Since this was a present now I had to pay over $35 for shipping this back. Extremely disappointed and will surely go for other brands in the future.

Other Thoughts: As alwasy Newegg with its great service.

1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Hugo answers his emails!

Cons: Registered on their site (which asked for my birthdate!) to get an RMA. I just received it. Like other fellow reviewers the unit had the cooler bent at a 5-10 degree angle. This put the back of the card about 1" higher than the front. No visible damage to the shipping box, wrapped in bubble wrap with some foam peanuts on top. Makes you wonder.

Manufacturer Response:

So was the replacement defective also? Some of the coolers on these cards do sometimes bend, but that's only because copper is so easy to bend. The copper heatpipes are what's keeping the big heatsink from moving out of place.

1 out of 5 eggs2 x bad

Pros: No fans.

Cons: Bought two cards. One has failed less than one year (display errors on boot bios screen, crashes computer after that). The second displays "fuzz" along the right edge for a few minutes periodically. Both checked by moving to other machines, symptoms followed.

The only way to submit RMA on their website is by creating a "member" account and agreeing to all of their terms and conditions.

Manufacturer Response:

You aren't signing up to anything crazy when you create an account, it's just a simple way for us (and yourself) to be able to track your PowerColor product and RMA history. The cards have warranties so I would encourage you to get them replaced if they have failed on you, we can definitely help you do that.

1 out of 5 eggsNot a fluke...Bad QC

Pros: Fanless design

Cons: Just like the review by "Going for Silence" on 6/25/2010 9:22:49 AM, the unit I received had the cooler bent way out of whack! Either I received his unit or they are coming from the factory in that condition. There was no damage to the packaging.

Other Thoughts: The time and money you save by buying over the internet is quickly eaten up when you have to go through the RMA process...

Manufacturer Response:

I can assure you that the cards aren't packaged and sent out with their coolers "best way out of whack". If you received the card and it was that way then it's something that definitely must have happened during travel. Either way, we are more than happy to help you get the product replaced if you need to. My e-mail is hugo@powercolor.com, feel free to contact me if you need any assistance with this card, or your replacement. Thanks.

2 out of 5 eggsStarted OK...

Pros: Quick and quiet. I installed this for a friend in a new PC he uses to play WOW mostly. Card performed flawlessly for 1 week...

Cons: After 1 week he started getting flashes and broken graphics - which got worse the longer he played. Car was running between 45/50 degrees. Putting a fan on it made no difference at all strangely. This was all in XP. Formatted HDD and installed Windows7 but same thing. This all using latest drivers.

Other Thoughts: RMA just started. Because there are no NVIDIA silent cards as fast (that I can see) I am going for a replacement. I will review the replacement after 1 month or so. (i7-930, 6GB Geil PC3 12800, 2xWD3200AAKS SATA0, Jetway BI-600-LF, W7 x64)

Manufacturer Response:

Sorry about the problems you experienced with your card. If the replacement continues to have issues feel free to e-mail me at hugo@powercolor.com and I'll be more than happy to help you out. Thanks.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat card, but airflow is a must

Pros: Great midrange card. A little more expensive than some of the other 5750s but comes with a unique cooling solution.

Cons: As stated in other reviews, the passive cooler is not heavy and able to soak up a lot of heat. While billed as a great HTPC card, it's overkill for HD playback since a 5450 can do that just fine. This is for the gamer who wants a quiet card. I ran some tests on it and quickly got the GPU to 75 degrees. I ended up getting a Thermaltake TMG SL1 dual slot fan which pulls hot air out the back of my case.

Other Thoughts: Took off the cooler (easy), cleaned off the thermal grease, and applied IC Diamond thermal paste. Not sure if it helped the temps much (see above) since I never ran it stock.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Card

Pros: Quite. Plays older games on maximum settings. Plays video perfectly. Works flawlessly since Catalyst 10.4. Have had it for 7 months now.

Cons: As someone else said, power connector on back is difficult to remove because the radiator pushes against the 6 pin pci release clip. I first got it at Catalyst 10.1 or 10.2. There was an issue with it overheating (I am guessing) it would cause my screen to go black and lock my computer. But since Catalyst 10.4 I have had no other problems.

Other Thoughts: I think it does need a little airflow by it, but not much. Has worked flawlessly since Catalyst 10.4 on Windows XP Home. I think I will get another for my lanbox lite htpc.

1 out of 5 eggsThis one must have escaped QA/QC

Pros: This card's price point and specifications met my requirements (on paper), with the priority being a passive cooling solution.

Cons: Arrived with heatpipe/radiator assembly affixed to the video card at an exaggerated angle. This resulted in the cooling assembly "ramping" upward over the length of the video card, making installation impossible in what would have otherwise been a good fit inside a Lian Li PC-V2110 chassis with a Lian Li B S-06 140mm PCI fan installed. Both NewEgg's product images and the manufacturer's product images show the cooling assembly extending evenly above the top of the card, not at an angle. Since the cooling assembly was firmly affixed to the card and there was no observable shipping damage to the packaging, I can only conclude that this specimen was manufactured incorrectly and is not representative of the product in general.

Other Thoughts: The RMA is in process, and I look forward to its replacement. Since I was aiming for a quiet, passively cooled video card, it's ironic that this one arrived with an essentially unworkable heatpipe/radiator assembly. NewEgg delivered on time, and, so far, has made the RMA process painless and efficient. Unfortunately, the shipping cost of the RMA raised the price of this card back up to MSRP.

Manufacturer Response:

It's definitely possible that something may have happened to this card during the shipment phase. Was the box damaged at all? Feel free to e-mail me with more information. I'd like to make sure you're being taken care of. Hugo@powercolor.com, thanks.
