2 out of 5 eggsYou get what you pay for

Pros: Was quiet and cool. Worked great with a 3 monitor Eyefinity setup. One egg for the awesome FPS/low power consumption of the 6850 chip.

Cons: Sputtering after about 2 months of moderate use. Produces artifacts/distortions and corruption of fonts in games like Brink. Shogun 2 either crashes to desktop or will jump around between monitors. OCCT GPU test will cause a hard freeze after about 10-15 seconds. Really? I know standards are slipping in the tech world but COME ON! Now I have an RMA in for this card (and they didn't make that easy on me), and now they're telling me it's going to be 3-4 weeks of turn around time plus transit time? My rig is going to be down for over a month because of this? Seriously?? I thought Sapphire was bad, PowerColor apparently doesn't stand behind their product AT ALL!

Other Thoughts: Go with EVGA, they actually have an excellent RMA program and really stand behind their work....

Manufacturer Response:

It's listed as 3-4 week on our site as an absolute worst case scenario (mainly potentially due to product outage). Our actual turnaround is 2-5 business days. If you need assistance with your RMA, or have general questions you can contact me directly and I'll be more than happy to help you out. My e-mail is hugo@powercolor.com, thanks.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent card!!

Pros: Installation was a breeze. Runs a lot smoother compares to 5770 which I previously had...especially in eyefinity mode.

I'm currently playing FFXIV online at 1080p in eyefinity....no lag..no crash..no problemo! :) Graphics in this game are breathtaking!

Runs Secondlife well.....get decent fps in high traffic areas....very low lag...

My rig:

2nd Gen intel i5
8G - DDR3 1333 PC3 10600
Corsair Force Series 120G SATA II SSD (Boot drive + games)
WD 350G 7200 RPM SATA III HDD (Storage)
Powercolor PCS+ HD 6850
Antec Earthwatts 500W (for now - upgrading to something with a bit more power soon)

Cons: None!!

Other Thoughts: Replacing motherboard and powersupply...and getting another one of these to crossfire soon! ..can't wait!

And I got this card when it was $189.99 with a free COD download...:)

2 out of 5 eggsWorks well when it does

Pros: Runs smooth quiet and cool. Performs well when it actually works. Came with free CoD:MW2 and rebate. Who could resist.

Cons: Card constantly crashes and recovers when i play WarCraft: The Frozen Throne. Yes I know it's an old game and it still happens.

Other Thoughts: Sent in the rebate already because I actually thought the product was going to work now I can't even RMA. Silly me... Next time I know not to buy from PowerColor.

Manufacturer Response:

Can you e-mail me at hugo@powercolor.com, please? I'd like to try and work with you to get this resolved. If you have a video card that works in all of your games except one, then the problem is probably not the graphics card. A lot of times, older games require further patching or even config file modifying in order for them to properly work with newer hardware. Shoot me an e-mail so I can help ya out. Our 6850 is a solid product. It probably just needs a little more configuration to properly work with an older game such as Warcraft III. Thanks.

5 out of 5 eggsPowerColor PCS+ AX6850

Pros: Card has great value for the $. It runs extremely quiet, is small to get into small chasis, and uses very little power. In fact, it is capable of being used to replace less capable cards, in Dell frames that have 350-400W power supplys...but be careful as it uses about 138W Max TPD while others use 150W+. So you can just make it without upgrading power supply pending other hardware, yet have a card that has great overclocking headroom with a good cooler. Installation was plug and play...no issues...I replaced a 120W TPD NVidia 240 OEM (GT250 reduced) card, & am using a 350W power supply, with a Intel Corei 7 860 (95W). Picked up appx 50 frames per second with this upgrade and runs much quieter...

Cons: None so far...

Other Thoughts: Exceptional value, especially if you get the free Call Duty version, and a $20 rebate. So I paid $162 total with tax (after sale & rebate), plus get a good game. Easy decision to step up from a 5770 card and get more performance without breaking the bank. Impressed with the build quality on this card also...
