5 out of 5 eggsGreat for simple gaming

Pros: Works great for a friend who basically just browses the internet and does email, Excel, Word stuff most of the time, but indulges in SC2 from time to time. Plays SC2 on medium settings at 1080p just fine! Doesn't get too hot, and the silence from no fan is a nice bonus.

Cons: None, you get what you pay for, which in this case is a well built budget chipset card!

5 out of 5 eggsJust works

Pros: Plugged it in my htpc, and have never had a problem with it.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: I replaced this with a fancier model, but not because this didn't do the job it was designed for, because it did.

3 out of 5 eggsAnd then it was dead

Pros: Fan-less and when it did work it was fine

Cons: After a year it would not display on either output. Fortunately, I could fall back on the onboard video

Manufacturer Response:

If you are having issues with the card, please feel free to contact me directly for assistance at jgaray@powercolor.com.

Thank you,

Jonathan

3 out of 5 eggsDon't buy this based on the rebate

Pros: None

Cons: I sent my rebate off four months ago and still no sign of it. It isn't cheap enough to be worth the price without the rebate.

Other Thoughts: This video card is mediocre at best. It is pretty clunky and doesn't do Netflix Silverlight video well. I haven't had much luck with Radeon chips. I will stick with NVIDIA in the future.

Manufacturer Response:

I apologize for the inconvenience. Generally, rebate checks are processed and mailed out in 8~12 weeks after the last day of promotional period. But sometimes rebates are processed with the incorrect documentation, and because of this they might be delayed. If you still did not received your rebate, please feel free to e-mail me directly at thomas.wang@powercolor.com for further assistance concerning your rebate.

3 out of 5 eggsPowerColor AX6450 1GBK3-SH

Pros: Low Cost.

Fanless (no noise).

Cons: DVI-VGA adapter on the DVI connector will not work. So, if you have to monitors with only VGA inputs, you are out of luck unless you buy a second video card.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat for a HTPC

Pros: Perfectly quiet and it handles every video format I throw at it without a hiccup.

Cons: Some say it gets extremely hot but my small HTPC case doesn't get hot at all. Just use sufficient cooling.

Other Thoughts: I have an older HTPC with 2GB of system memory. This card's 1GB of memory saves my system memory for other tasks which I like.

3 out of 5 eggsDisappointed

Pros: - Allows for light gaming. WEI of 6.2/4.7 for graphics/gaming.
- easy install; came right up
- all power from the motherboard no connector needed from the PSU
- Dual bracket for low profile if you have a very slim case

Cons: - Hotter than blazes. Maxed out at 109C! And that was only from video playback.
- drops frames, stutters, at high temp. Tried reinstalling new drivers, but no change.
- Wanted the card for light gaming in a Home Theater PC. Since this runs so hot, I'm resorting to integrated graphics (HD4250) which runs blu-ray and streaming just fine. I just can't game anymore.

Other Thoughts: Maybe I just got a bad card with a poorly secured heat sink, don't know. It does run Star Craft 2 and other games but, man is it HOT!

4 out of 5 eggsSeems OK, but HOT!

Pros: - quiet. Using it in a HTPC (Silverstone GD05).
- HDMI output runs my 65inch HD TV just fine through Windows Media Center
- No stuttering, no dropped frames, picture is very smooth.

Cons: - HOT, HOT, HOT!
- Worried it may melt. Is that possible? Card is running just fine so far in my Silverstone case. The case has 3 - 120mm fans blowing into the case. But, it doesn't seem to be enough to cool this thing down. I've been monitoring temp through CDUID H/W monitor. GPU idles at 71C and has maxed out at 107C - yikes! I was running an Asus 5770 but wanted something more quiet. the 5770 maxed out at 72C. Even though the 6450 has a very high temp, it seems to be running OK. Little worried the high temp will cut it's life short.

I'll add 2 - 80mm output fans to see if it helps/.

Other Thoughts: I'm going to see if a couple more quiet fans sucking air out of the box will help. Otherwise, I have have to return. The card sits right next to my TV tuner and I don't want the excessive heat to kill that card.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesomeness

Pros: upgraded from a 5450, pretty much for the heck of it. price was calling out to me.

Cons: higher wattage psu recommended than 5450.

Other Thoughts: got a new cpu to make the psu purchase worth while, though the 6450 was working just fine with my 350W build
