4 out of 5 eggsRuns cold with high performance. Very satisfied!

Pros: Performs exactly as expected. Very cold when properly water cooled. I used the EK-Water Blocks Supremacy 360 HFX kit and ran a benchmark program called FurMark for a while and it maxed out at a comfortable 46°C.

Cons: Makes a constant distinguishable whining/buzzing sound that is louder than any of my fans while active. This tends to be quieter while running at a higher resolution for some reason. It's annoying since there's no moving parts (to my knowledge) but tolerable since I have music to mask it.

I've read from other responses by the manufacture that it's nothing to worry about and occurs in some of their products, so I'm not worried, just slightly annoyed that it's the only real noise coming form my tower.

Other Thoughts: Would recommend to anyone.

5 out of 5 eggsoutstanding card

Pros: Performs like a champ right out of the box. Stock clocks 1050 gpu, 1425 mem are fast enough to chew up almost all games. runs cool 28 at idle. 45 under load. reduced the wattage my pc draws by 16 watts. no issues whatsoever. overclocks to 1300/1450 easily. fast,fast,fast...

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: I didn't buy this from the egg,(first time from anywhere else) but I still recommend this gpu and the egg..running catalyst 12.6 with no problems at all. great card

2 out of 5 eggsWish it worked correclty

Pros: It performs great when it wants to work

Cons: To start off I'm not happy right now. My last video card took a dump and i had this overnighted to me. And it has a whine, or it emits white noise, which is louder then my rad fans when on high. I was using the card at 100% load at decent temps (42c max) for about 1.5 hours when the noise suddenly stopped. I was so happy until I noticed that the screen had begun to artifact. Switched programs and the artifact remained. Traded one problem for another. Re-booted and the noise is back, but the artifacts are gone. Im pretty sure the one i got is defective. Getting this RMA'ed. Also if you search for 7970 white noise or whine you will find others with same issue. I'd prefer to stay with ATI, so i hope the next one i get works correctly.

Manufacturer Response:

I apologize for the issues you have encountered with our card. As you already have an RMA open, you may contact me at jgaray@powercolor.com if you have any further questions.

Regarding the whine that you have mentioned though, this is something that happens from time to time across all manufacturers of both parties. The electrical noise, or whine as it's commonly referred to, is nothing to be concerned about as it will cause no damage to any of your components.

Thank you,

Jonathan

3 out of 5 eggsthey are good but not for the price.

Pros: Nice card and waterblock!

Cons: Just RMA my 2 7970 today after all reviews...and got 2 580 that gave me better gameplay (smoother and less problematic drivers) and fps in some games like arma 2 oa. Less fps drops in bf3 and batman AC.

Way too expensive! should be like tops $600. Amd should go back to the old cheap prices...especially now that they dont have the best card!

Other Thoughts: Got to 580 from fry until i can get the 680s
Lost some money here but i will be very happy in the end!
Back to nvidia after 4 years of ATI!

5 out of 5 eggsLCS HD 7970

Pros: High end performance, 2 cards in Crossfire and Eyefinity. 3DMark11 score; X5776 with i7 980x on Asus X58 mobo. and 12.3 driver, I expect it'll get better. 3DMark Vantage; P44285.
Eyefinity and Crossfire work seamlessly now, I always had issues with two HD5870s (mostly DVI to DP dongle related) but they treated me well in-game these past two years. Time to upgrade!

Cons: Cost, 1600 dollars for a pair! I'm already under water, no additional expense there.

Other Thoughts: Three monitor support was supported by the accessories in the packages. One monitor running off DVI, two running of mini-DP to DVI adapter. No flicker or black outs.
Maybe these two will keep me satisfied for another couple years.

5 out of 5 eggsjust saying..

Pros: -don't have to worry about voiding your warranty if you wanna watercool your GPU

Cons: -PRICE! if you buy a refference card and the waterblock separately, it will cost you about 680bucks... you are paying the extra money for the Overclock that isn't even substantial since this card can easily reach 1125/1525 on air cooling w/o voltage increase.

So you prolly paying the extra 80-90bucks for the warranty, since you won't void anything if you wanted a watercooled GPU but powercolor... not gonna count them out yet but haven't heard any good thing about powercolor's customer support..

Other Thoughts: if you plan to watercool your GPU, look for a brand that won't void your warranty when you remove the stock air cooler and a brand that is trusted (for your opinion) with their customer support... me personally I trust Sapphire,Gigabyte,XFX,MSI brand but dunno which one won't void your warranty if you remove the stock cooler.. (time to research that one) anyways it is expensive.. powercolor's customer support quality is unknown so this ain't something I personally would recommend but it is pretty good if you count out the company name powercolor.. you get a card watercooled by EK which is one of the best company in watercooling and the card overclocks well even with air cooling and I've seen overclocking reaching 1350/2100 on watercooled HD7970 (but of course every GPU is different, some may reach over that overclock some may not even touch that overclock. it's upon your luck to reach that high of a clock.)
