1 out of 5 eggsBad fan bearing

Pros: Can't comment, too afraid to run it for more than a few seconds.

Cons: Out of box - fan bearing seems to be faulty/out of balance. At low speeds fan clicks loudly, and at high speeds (55%+) entire card housing shakes violently and extremely loudly. Transfers heavy vibrations through case/mobo to other components. Assured a secure connection to mobo and case, even tried multiple slots/motherboards to verify card defect.

Other Thoughts: RMA in progress. Been buying hardware from Newegg for almost 10 years now. This is my first PowerColor product, and first RMA.

Manufacturer Response:

We apologize for the issues you've experienced with our product. We are confident that your RMA will continue smoothly and your replacement product will work as intended. If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact us by email at or by phone at 626-330-4700.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Works great, I recieved my rebate in the mail as promised. Thank you powercolor

I run all my games at max settings.

Cons: Radeon Graphics cards are buggy with the games I play such as league of legends it's not just me either many are having these problems and the new drivers can't fix them yet.

5 out of 5 eggsWin Win

Pros: Great card. Clocked a bit higher than default 7870's with a fairly compact pcb and shroud. Good looks...except for the trim sticker on the front...that was a bit cheesy. Can handle max setting at 1900X1080 for all the games I play. Incredible deal when purchased on sale...with a game...with a rebate...with free shipping. Thanks Newegg.

This may be the best upper-midrange graphics solution for someone with limited space.

Cons: The dragons are harder to kill in Skyrim now but still only drop one soul.

Other Thoughts: I try to stay open to both AMD and nVidia cards each generation. This time around AMD seems to outperform at virually every price point making the Team Green cards seem almost irrelevant. Competition in the component industry is the best thing for us enthusiasts!

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Maxes everything on highest settings at 1600x900 resolution. The in-game sleeping dogs benchmark tool says this card gets and average of 46fps and a low of 33 fps with the high res texture pack enabled. doesnt get very hot. havent seen it go above 62C yet.

Cons: only con is i bought a week before black friday and i could have gotten a nvidia 660ti for only about 30 dollars more but it's not necessary.

Other Thoughts: My setup consists of the following.

Intel I5 3570k
MSI z77a-G45 motherboard
8Gb of Gskill 1600MHz ram /w 8-8-8-24 timings
600Gb 32Mb Cache 10k rps western digital velociraptor hard drive

4 out of 5 eggs3TFlops but bad Double Precision

Pros: -Overclock like crazy! 1170MHz without voltage increase = 3.0TFlops (single precision)
-relativly low heat

Cons: -(1 egg down) for primary screen problem when going to youtube through firefox (see other thought)
-very low performance for double precision tasks. (see other thoughts)

Other Thoughts: -screen problem: whatever screen is your primary (the screen that has the start orb on win7) goes completley fuzzy when i go to youtube. screen 2 ramains fine otherwise. when I exit firefox, the screen comes back but has random lines throught the screen making text hard to read. the only fix (so far) seems to be restarting windows. drives currently @ 12.1

-Low double precision performance: first off, double precision is not really used for games but is often used for openCL like stuff IE: scientific computing where exact numbers are needed. the most common use for this is BOINC applications. 1GHz core on the 7870 = 160GFlops double precision. compared to a 7970 @ 1050MHz does 1075GFlops. after factoring in power consumption, the 7970 is 4.28 times more efficient with double precision.

5 out of 5 eggsSweet Card

Pros: Fast and Smooth. Great bargin as I gpt it after rebate for $195

Cons: Needing 2 pci-e power plugs kinda was a downer but not worth an egg.

Other Thoughts: Sweet deal especialy if you can get it for the price I did. Don't think, buy it.

5 out of 5 eggsNice quiet card

Pros: Fast and smooth performance
Easy overclocking interface
Fits well in a midtower setup
Included a stand to support the weight

Using this card and a z75 board with Ivy bridge i5 and 16gb of ram I run 80fps in Tera with all settings maxed. SWTOR is 90fps on max. Crysis maxes at 320fps with an average of 72fps. Skyrim with the HD texture pack runs slightly choppy at max settings with a low of 24fps.

Cons: Powercolor's website has bad links to get updated drivers. Tried more than 1 computer and the links are just bad. Really disappointed because I did not have an optical drive and I had to rip the disk to an external drive using someone else's computer.

FYI you can download Steam and it will update the driver to the latest available version.

Other Thoughts: The hardware and bundled software is perfect and this card is a great value. The card is always cool even under loads for hours in my Coolermaster Elite with 5 fans and a stock cpu fan.

1 out of 5 eggsNice Looking but DOA

Pros: Looks really nice and feels solid. Has 2 DVI ports. Packaging was better than expected. Plastic covers on all the various connectors on the card. Got it on sale for $215 and $20 MIR.

Cons: Was DOA out of the box. Both DVI ports looked to be dead. Switched from a GTX 460 that worked fine. Card would'nt even turn on the monitor with either DVI port. Put the GTX 460 back in and everything was ok.

Paying return shipping to RMA a BRAND NEW defective card kinda sucks.

I have been ordering computer parts from Newegg for many years and this is my 1st RMA I hope it wont be to much of a PITA.

Other Thoughts: I hope my replacement works. I really want to see this card run. I will try to update this review after I receive a replacement card.

Manufacturer Response:

I do apologize for the issues you've encountered with our product. If you continue to have issues with the replacement card, please feel free to contact me directly for assistance at

Thank you,

5 out of 5 eggsNice Card

Pros: Excellent card it installed and setup nicely with no issues. It is quiet even when locked at 50% speed which I have yet to see it surpass when set to auto. The card comes with a nice overclock but stability is not an issue if pushed further. The over all build quality is very good on the card it feels solid not cheap.

Cons: Nothing so far.

Other Thoughts: This card meets my expectations well and I would recommend it to anyone. So far Diablo 3 has been the only game tested it's running at max settings with no stuttering whatsoever. It has also performed well in 3DMark11 and 3DMark Vantage with no issues. PowerColor cards have also been very reliable for me in the past so I hope this one does not disappoint. It's also nice to get a free copy of Dirt Showdown with the card (although price discount would have been better).

2 out of 5 eggsDefect roulette?

Pros: Faster, smoother, at higher resolution, than my GeForce 8600GTS.
Two DVI outputs.
Variable speed fan, quiet at low load.

Cons: The card itself emitted at rapid ticking sound when displaying 3D video (the noise was not from the fan).

Poorly balanced fan made rumbling noises at full speed.

Locked up the system after an hour or so.

Other Thoughts: When did it become acceptable for a manufacturer to charge return shipping on a defective product? It makes the product effectively more expensive, but it doesn't make it any less cheap.

Manufacturer Response:

Can you please contact me at I would like to speak with you regarding your particular video card and its issues.

Thank you,
