1 out of 5 eggsWorst customer service

Pros: It works fine until damaged.

Cons: I had two Powercolor GPUs. Both burnt suddenly with a spark without any clue.

Both are denied RMA. For the last one, I had a RMA number after long conversation. Then it was denied on basis that it is water damaged. I never had GPUs close to any water source ever.

I had used GPUs from other brands on same system (MoBo, PSU, CPU), never faced such an issue. Also, looks like it a common issue with PowerColor GPUs.

I am never going to buy another powercolor product after wasting $760 just less than a year. I would highly recommend other users to think twice about buying their products again!

Manufacturer Response:

This is Raymond from PowerColor. Whether we honor warranty for burns depends on case by case basis. Unfortunately, we cannot honor warranty for cards that have been damaged with liquids.

Best Regards,

1 out of 5 eggsPoor quality and poor customer service

Pros: Card worked for a few months and then died.

Cons: I tried getting the card RMA'd with powercolor warranty but they are refusing my warranty claim stating that it appears that liquid has been poured onto the back of the card. Upon further inspection I noted that the colored and texture of the "liquid" was the same as the plastic that would come from a melted pcb board.

Other Thoughts: I will never be buying from Powercolor again. I will also tell every single person I know to stay away from their brand. They have been slow to respond to my inquiries and jump to conclusions.

Manufacturer Response:

This is Raymond from PowerColor. We apologize for the experience you faced with our RMA. Please email us at and we will investigate the issue.

Best Regards,

4 out of 5 eggsRuns everything on highest settings.

Pros: -Runs every game I own on highest settings.
-The stock clock is actually 955 MHz (not 925 as the info page suggests).
-The fans in it's default setting is too quiet to be heard over case fans (it runs at 33%).

Cons: - Oversensitive to heat.
- Fan is VERY loud at 100% (it managed to be heard next to an 8350's stock fan!)
-They don't sell them anymore :(

Other Thoughts: I bought this card (along with all the other computer parts) during Newegg's November sale. It cost exactly $289.99, and it came with a gold AMD coupon (3 free games!).

So, how well did it run games? Running the toughest program on my computer (Skyrim with a ton of graphics mods) didn't even faze this card - it ran at 60 fps constantly. It also has a huge reserve of video ram - 3 GB. Most games actually crash if they use 3.1 GB, so this is the most you'd need for a while.

Looking at powercolor's website and the speeds listed by the driver, this card's stock speed is 955 MHz. Not sure why it's listed at 925 MHz.

Now for the bad things about this card - it seems to be very sensitive to heat. Most graphics cards can run well past 90 degrees Celsius, but this card starts to artifact in the mid 80s. This can be mitigated by turning the fan up, but the fan is VERY loud at 100%. You're also stuck either having the fan at 100% or 49% - the automatic speed simply refuses to hit 50% (I guess it's afraid of it's own noise).

Overall, it's a good buy for the price I paid. Too bad they don't make them anymore - and I just spent an hour writing a review for a discontinued product. :(

5 out of 5 eggsNice card

Pros: Like most GPUs of good quality is does not sound like a turbo prop, in fact I can't hear it over my case fans.

I have not over clocked the card so I don't know how it will respond to that. However I have felt no need to. Playing Skyrim, Borderlands 2 at 1920X1200 with all setting as high as they go I am getting around twice the FPS I did on my MSI HD6870 Hawk, same with Valley Benchmark.

Cons: None that I have found.

Other Thoughts: I knew nothing of Power Color before now, a friend who lives Down Under told me they make good products, so I bought this card and so far I am really happy with it.

1 out of 5 eggsUnstable Card

Pros: Cheap

Cons: I am currently on my third card of this type. The first one I had to RMA after 2 months after I bought the card. The second time was 4 months after I Rmaed the first card. Not only have I wasted about a month and a half of my time. Both times where the same problem of the card becoming defective and pixalating after about 3 months of use. I would not recommend this brand since this is my third RMA from this brand 2 being this card. On another note I'm not the only one of my peers that have had problems of this type with this brand.

Other Thoughts: I would say my luck is very bad but this isn't the first time I've RMAed this brand they are clearly not producing good and reliable products. I would not ever think about touching this brand pay the extra money to save time and fustration.

4 out of 5 eggsGood card, cheap price

Pros: Price, price, price. The voltage is also unlocked, so you can work wonders lowering the clocks & voltage a bit as far as power usage goes.

Cons: Powercolor is probably the worst video card vendor when it comes to warranties. Probably one of the reasons they can price their cards so cheap.

Other Thoughts: I wouldn't consider it a "pro" (since it's something that one should expect), but since so many other people have posted about it, I feel the need to mention that I have absolutely zero heat issues running the card at full load at stock settings (right now it's at 99% usage and 61oC w/ fan at 70% - ambient 75-76oF, 24oC).

2 out of 5 eggsGreat card, when it works

Pros: Ran all the games I played at top specifications for a while.

Cons: This card has trouble waking from sleep mode and also waking from no-power. It requires a hard reset (or two) before my monitor recognizes the card. I tried swapping HDMI cords, using DVI, updating drivers, rolling back drivers, nothing worked. It also recently displayed artifacting during gameplay so I decided to RMA.

Other Thoughts: I'd like to hope it is a defective card that caused all of these issues, but the sleep mode issues seem more widespread. Regardless, it had issues within a month that required a RMA.

1 out of 5 eggsHorrible Card

Pros: It is cheap

Cons: Very bad fan that failed after 2 months. The manufacturer charged me $30 to fix the fan and came up with some excuse of why the fan is not covered by warranty.

1 out of 5 eggsIt just won't work for me.

Pros: It was cheap.

Cons: It refused to work.

Other Thoughts: I tried everything I could think of from flashing the bios to checking bios settings for anything, but it refused to give video. The psu is a 750w and the system even with the card should not be pulling much more than 600w. The motherboard is supposed to be compatible, but it just won't work. Not a newegg fault just an odd product fault. I returned it for a refund to save myself the headaches.

I have a failing GTX 570 in there currently and it works fine if underclocked and previously had a GTX 560 ti and a HD 5850 running in the same slot.

4 out of 5 eggsGood Value

Pros: Great performance for the price. Plays nice with the FX-8350. I can't wait to set up my crossfire configuration when I save for another one.

Overclocking is a breeze.

Cons: Not quite ready to kick tail out of the box. Took quite a bit of configuration to get it up to its potential.
