1 out of 5 eggsDisplayport issue with multiple inputs connected

Pros: none

Cons: * Tech support is terrible.

* If you connect more than 3 inputs (2560x1600 resolution ea), everything goes out of control - black screens everywhere. Forget 3x2 Eyefinity when 2x2 doesn't even work!!! I ended up returning this card for a VisionTek.

Other Thoughts: This is the 6th cards I bought from these guys cuz of their competitive prices and rebates but I guess you get what you paid for though. The quality is terrible, downright garbage. It seems like they terminated their QA department in order to keep the cost low, profit high. Stay away from this brand guys. They seriously need to test every product before it hits the market, which I highly suspected that they don't.

Manufacturer Response:

2 out of 5 eggsHD 7870 Eyefinity 6

Pros: Delivers great color and speed across multiple monitors for general use.

Cons: Requires a lot of power to run.
Crashes when trying to play Battle Field 4.
Lack of AMD technical support.

Other Thoughts: If you just need multiple monitor for low GPU use, this will work. If you want to play a high end game, look into a better card.

1 out of 5 eggsWaste of time

Pros: none

Cons: I purchased this card for use with two new Dell U2413 monitors but unfortunately this card doesn't work with more than one monitor connected.
As soon as you connect the second monitor either by daisy chaining or using a second DP port you get a DisplayPort Link Failure warning. Installing the beta drives got me as far as mirroring the displays at 1920x1080 but it always fails for 1920x1200 and never works in extended mode. These monitors work great in daisy chain mode with my nvidia rig.

The catalyst software that manages the card is practically useless and extremely frustrating. It takes a reboot for settings to fully apply. Worst than Windows98.

Other Thoughts: Don't purchase AMD products if you just want it to work.

Last time I used AMD it was an Athlon CPU (constant over heating) so I decided to test them again, big mistake.

4 out of 5 eggsstill looking for solution

Pros: Hi, I just built a new workstation for a customer and we used your Powercolor HD7870 card. I used SYSPREP to prepare the old pc in order to clone to the new pc. (It is a domain member). The old pc had an ATI dual port card. We bought two new Powercolor active mini-displayport to single link dvi-d adapters to go with the two included in the box. We can only get two of the monitors to display windows xp pro at a time however all of the monitors (4 brand new Acer from Newegg) do work. We uninstalled the old ATI software from add remove. Installed the new drivers along with the catalyst control center. The control center sees monitors 3 and 4 and says to right click on them to "include them in the line up" but when we do this there is no response. There is even a mouse icon which shows up at the blacked out 3&4 with the right click blinking and after right click there is no response. Do you have any clue as to what I need to do to get them working?

2 out of 5 eggsBEWARE of EYEFINITY

Pros: 2GB Video Memory
256-bit
GHz GPU
Seems to be a great card, however....

Cons: Only displayport works for more than 2 monitors. Why don't they mention that !?

Other Thoughts: It would be nice if the explanation of using adapters for more than 2 monitors DOES NOT WORK. You can use adapters for only 2 monitors and Displayport for the additional Monitors only. Too late to return the product and now I am down $350. Should have just went with multiple video Cards.

Manufacturer Response:

This card can use adapters for all 6 Mini-DisplayPorts. Be sure that you are using ACTIVE adapters such as ours, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16815309008. We use these all the time and work 100% of the time without issue when testing a 6 display configuration. A list of other supported adapters can also be found on AMD's website, http://support.amd.com/us/eyefinity/Pages/eyefinity-dongles.aspx.

If you have any other questions, please feel free to contact me at jgaray@powercolor.com.

Thank you,

Jonathan

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Obviously, six-monitor support with one card. Easy installation. A+ would buy again.

Cons: None, for my uses.

Other Thoughts: I ended up purchasing this card for my father, who daytrades and wanted to enable his computer to run a six-monitor setup, but only had one available pci-e slot. He has a Core i3 Gateway; probably about a year old, but was running dual monitors on integrated graphics, and a stock PSU. Replaced the PSU with a ~$60 700w, and popped in the Eyefinity 6.
Monitors in use are a motley crew of old standbys, and a couple of newer DP-ready screens, so for the old ones I bought active mini-DP to VGA adapters. I realize that for the money spent, we can start talking about putting together a whole new system, but there were principals in play here, and it's best not to argue sometimes. Anyone providing tech support for their parents I'm sure can commiserate.
If you're here looking for gaming performance, I must disappoint you at this point, in that this card is for business applications only. For those purposes, it is more than ample.
Also of note, I'm sure it's overkill for our uses, but it seems to be the only of it's type still in production (the older ones still on the market seem to have some legacy markup...) and I read some horror stories about splitting DVI signals. In conclusion: A convenient solution to a problem in which a price tag wasn't the main concern. Highly recommended.
I'm almost curious enough to grab a game and set up the Eyefinity just to spread it out to six monitors for evil-cackling purposes, so if I get bored enough next time i'm visiting the folks and end up doing it, I'll come and update accordingly. Otherwise, unless your games consist of 50-some-odd colorey charts moving slowly and the occasional "surf of the net", wait for a more pertinent review.

5 out of 5 eggsBuyer Beware

Pros: Doing research...... from their website:

To enable more than two displays, additional panels with native DisplayPort™ connectors, and/or DisplayPort™ compliant active adapters to convert your monitor’s native input to your cards DisplayPort™ or Mini-DisplayPort™ connector(s), are required. Support for six simultaneous displays may require complementary products compatible with DisplayPort 1.2 Multi-Stream Transport. Maximum number of configured displays may vary - check with your component or system manufacturer for specific model capabilities and supported technologies.

Cons: You will need monitors with "Mini DisplayPort" connectivity or "ADAPTERS" (about $30 each) to allow more than 2 "legacy monitors" (read: DVI,VGA,or HDMI connections) simultanously.

Scroll down to #2 near the bottom.....

Other Thoughts: They should be more forthcoming with the hardware needed to make their product work properly. I would think most people who buy this will want the multiple monitors working too!
