1 out of 5 eggsdead after a month

Pros: Was an amazing unit. Fast, very smooth. Then arbitrarily died for no good reason after a month..huge disappointment. I saved many many months so I could snag one when they came back for sale, and I've contacted powercolor for RMA. Depending on their service, (I've had xfx RMA, got card replacement in 5 days; MSI RMA that received in 7) I will report back and on forums to let fellow tech folks know how good powercolor is at dealing with these tragedies. And yuh, losing a 1k $ card in under 30 days is tragic.

Cons: Died..

Other Thoughts: Hoping powercolor truly cares about us folks that are devoted to their company. Third powercolor card in 2 years & all top end units, 6970, 6990, and both were great. This is my first tech support issue & RMA , their products are great. I'm not gonna lie, thought, I'm freaking out worried I lost my $1000.

4 out of 5 eggsnot the Devil 13

Pros: -ridiculously fast, 70 fps in crysis 3, ultra settings
-while the cooler is very large, it keeps the temps in check

Cons: -this card is voltage locked, which is different than the devil 13. this i found to be very disappointing (-1 egg)
- loud/ when the fans get to 80% it sounds like a jet engine. might as well have some deltas in there
- with my model i have some slight high pitched squealing that can become irritating
- the power jack is ultra lame and its hard/ impossible to find a size that is good enough to reach the card

Other Thoughts: i have been using this card for heavy bench-marking and gaming and so far i wished i had gotten 2 cards in sli or the 690, just because of the locks put on the card. this was the first card that i owned that wasn't by Nvidia and while im not wholly disappointed, i felt like i may have been happier staying in my safe zone. also while its not exactly a con this card is ENORMOUS. i couldn't use my gpu shroud or support in my HAFX. again if you are ever going to consider overclocking this is not the card for you

5 out of 5 eggsThis Card Scares Me

Pros: Oh wow this card is huge , all the videos and feed back do not prepare you fully for when you hold it in your hands , and it gets beast performance once you figure everything out runs wow 40 man raids on ultra with 3 monitor eyefinity and no lag so it should have no problem with shooter games or anything else you care to throw at it stock with the turbo button pressed and no further oc

Cons: well what`s a review without some constructive criticism ? first as seen in the video to the devil 13 respectively , the first thing you should do is throw the disc in the garbage unless your like me and keep it all for whatever reason , do not go to powercolor site ! go straight to amd and get the most recent drivers and catalyst software , then do not forget to go to hardware/device mgr. and update the second gpu driver failure to do so will cause sloppy performance and failed benchmark scores , when you install catalyst it only installs the main driver not the secondary but once you follow up and make sure you have both drivers updated then it will change your gaming life ! the power jack is not userfriendly nor does it really work at all if you are using this enormous card in one of the lower slots as i must so i can still use my tv tuner card , there was no way to adjust this so it would fit it is way too tall or way too short no matter how you try to put the pieces together so epic fail in that department , as long as you use screws in all 3 slots and have a descent motherboard such as asus sabertooth 990 fx r2.0 or equiv. you should have no problem supporting this card , after awhile i did figure out how the jack works but only to find out that with this card in the third slot there was no way i could get it in there so it is doomed to a box forever . it does make a nice conversation pc though

Other Thoughts: see my review on xigmatek elysium case for specs

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing!!!

Pros: VERY VERY VERY FAST GPU!!! Have this card with the AMD FX 8150. This thing plays newer games at 60 fps+ on max settings. I'm playing Crysis 3 @ 1080p on max settings with AA at medium and I average around 65-75 fps during large maps. I'm sure with newer drivers this thing will only get faster!

Cons: pricey! power jack is kinda lame but does the job.

Other Thoughts: I'm really hoping Adobe releases the OpenCL patch for Premiere and all OpenCL accelerated programs soon for Windows because I can't wait to see how this thing handles 4k playback!

3 out of 5 eggsExcellent card... But.

Pros: This card has everything you need to run any game on high resolution. Almost a con, mediocre cooling even with the HUGE cooling system attached.

Cons: I would say price, but nobody cares about the price if there looking at this card. they only see that it is a high end card to run there application at it's best.

Other Thoughts: I have a liquid cooling system on my PC and I purchased the water block from EK. I started to tear down the GPU to prepare it for the water block when I started to take one of the Heat Sinks attached near the back by the PCI connectors and i heard a Horibble sound. I thought I shorted out my board, it sounded like electrical discharges. I calm down and completely removed the Heat Sink to find a plastic film fused to the board. Thermal pads have a thin film of plastic on the top and bottom, and are removed before applying. During the manufacturing proccess someone forgot to remove the bottom film, and it melted to my board. I am not pleased by this, If I hadn't removed the Heatsink, I would of never known.

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing

Pros: Easy install and drivers were no problem. This was one large card and performs just as large. Bought it here last month cost a lot of hard earned money. I purchased the 7990 to replace two 5970's I have been running for the last two years. The 7990 out performs both of those cards by a large percent. I'am getting 65 to 74 FPS on BF3 everything at Ultra with out any OCing. Thats with 3 X 27in Samsung SyncMaster monitors 5760 by 1080 res. Temps are good and fans only rev up while playing keeping the cards about 68 to low 70's. Must say I have no regrets as I like single card over duels any day.

Cons: Only con and its not a big deal is the power jack. It is not that easy to set up to hold the weight of the card which is a lot. They could of spent a few dollars making a more sturdy one.

5 out of 5 eggsMy follow up review

Pros: It is smaller then 2x hd7970 cards. It uses 3 8 pci-e cables. A pair of hd7970 would use 2 8 pin cables and 2 6 pin cables.

Cons: It cost more then 2 hd7970 cards.

Other Thoughts: Here is the follow up. I use this to mine bitcoins and Htpc. A little gaming. I have run it 24/7 since I got it in Dec. It is tricky to setup as one gpu is fully unlocked the second gpu is not fully unlocked. you need to use auto fan settings not manual.

What I like about this is it is smaller then 2 cards. you can run one gpu at bitcoin 24/7 the second gpu you can do lite gaming or watch a movie. of course you can run both gpus to game if you set an aggressive auto fan setting.

My machine earns almost 5 coins a month.

I got it with the 3 game bundle . Since I had a few bundles I sold this one. so all in all this machine did not cost anywhere near the price newegg wants for it. Since I don't push it like mad it will last. I am happy with this card.

But if you have a mobo and case that cool really good with a lot of room you may want to have a pair of hd7970's instead.

4 out of 5 eggswouldnt trust because of warranty

Pros: ive owned this card for a while now, simply amazing but the fact that theres only a few years for warranty scares everyone away from this. they should offer a life time warranty. they dont want to deal with replacing a 1000 dollar gpu frequently they pretty much slap you in the face with service for a 1000 dollar graphics card. they need to suck it up and extend it to a lifetime warranty. 1000 dollar hit and run companies need to get there act together and really start with reliability

Cons: warranty should be a lifetime warranty

5 out of 5 eggsSo far so good on my second try with this card.

Pros: Pro uses 3 wires 8 pin.

2 cards use 4 wires sometimes 2x 6 pin and 2x 8 pin.

It takes up less space 3 slots not 5 if you have 2 7970 cards.

This one works so far..

I have it at about .990 volts and 940 mhz.

running warm around 75c and 65 c. at full load of 99%

fans at 65 %

Cons: Costly. If you look around 2x 7970 cards on newegg will save some money. this card is heavy if you have a server case or a ht case so that the card does not hang on the board this is not a con. If you have a tower and the board is sideways this card is heavy and needs support. I do not like the jack they provide but my setup the board is flat in a ht case so it is not an issue.

It is a bit tricky to setup but this card the fans worked properly. my first card on fan was locked into slow speed.

Other Thoughts: I will report back on this in a week or two just to say it is still working. My other thought is make sure you want this or need it as 2 separate cards cost less.
