2 out of 5 eggscrapped out in about a year

Pros: Good performance while it lasted.

Cons: Ran hot, and gave up the ghost just over a year after I installed it.

Other Thoughts: I wouldn't buy this again.

1 out of 5 eggsFollow up review

Pros: Shows a picture

Cons: Overheats. The first card hit 90C+ so I contacted PC to get it replaced. I paid the return charge and it took them over a month to process and send me a new card. Got the new card and its doing the same thing. Playing an MMO today it hit 89C with the fan speed (set on auto) hitting 68% so it was really loud.

The first card hit 91-92C so this one is in the same league. I can only think that their single fan setup is the major issue. Tech support was slow and needed to be prompted to get any response.

Other Thoughts: 2 cards and 2 overheating issues.

1 out of 5 eggsStay away from PC

Pros: Price was good

Cons: Card overheated to 90+C within minutes of use. Loud. I contacted PC tech support. They asked me to put the card in another computer and test it. I did and it did the same thing (overheated).

Got an RMA number and shipped the card back at my cost ($13). Took them 5 days to acknowledge receipt. Then no word. I emailed them 10 days later and they said they had tested and it was bad. The RMA dept said they were waiting for the replacement dept to respond.

10 days later still no word so I emailed again. They asked me to be patient that the replacement dept was in charge. I asked for a contact higher up and they refused to provide.

I just emailed again and the RMA group says the eta from the replacement group is now 2-3 days. Assuming that's correct (fat chance?) then the card needs to be shipped to me and I assume another week to receive. That means the earliest I can now hope is 10 days.

PC is fragged. I would suggest that whatever you think you are saving on a good deal can easily be negated by return costs, lack of responsiveness and incredibly long waits with then asking for you to "be patient".

The RMA dept has no idea (according to them) what other depts are doing and will NOT provide any outreach for the customer.

Other Thoughts: Stay clear of PC products to be safe.

5 out of 5 eggsFAST card.

Pros: Extremely fast, decently quiet, sleek design

Cons: DOES RUN HOT!! Peaks around 85c when playing BF4 at high settings. I need to tweak the fan settings as well as look at getting a new case, but read other comments about their card reaching max temps of ~65c. Also this is a pretty massive card. It barely squeaked into my mid ATX case.

Other Thoughts: Messing around with fan settings as well as improving case air flow will make this card even better. No need for me to OC but the option is there. A+ value

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Card, some patience required

Pros: This chip is quite impressive, being that it's essentially a 7930 with massive overclocking potential it can be pretty difficult to take issue with this card's performance or value. However the team who designed the chip at powercolor may have been a little bit rushed or nonchalant when addressing some of the finer details of the Tahiti Core. Overall it is fast, surprisingly quiet and cool, and was ridiculously well priced, this is a hard card to beat.

Cons: The chip is shipped 20% power shy of being truly stable and over-volted by nearly a full .2 v, on top of this the chip has become notorious for simply ignoring programs such as afterburner, trixx, or any other card-customization utility, in favor of doing its' own thing. For many owners this unfortunately entails constant throttling between the "normal" 925 clock speed and the "boosted" 975, killing performance and dramatically increasing the load temperature of the card. The reality is that for a fair number of owners out there the only solution will be to flash the bios with updated clock, watt, and voltage settings, which honestly isn't very difficult or time consuming and once performed can dramatically lower temps, power consumption, and thankfully decibels; whilst simultaneously increasing the performance of the chip by a wide margin.

All things considered this is still a great card, and though I fail to understand how Powercolor managed to be so far off the mark with their own hardware, it isn't really difficult for more experienced user's to resolve any issues that crop up.

Other Thoughts: What in the world were the people at Powercolor thinking and or doing when they came up with the stock settings and dynamic clock adjustment profiles for this card?

2 out of 5 eggsNot the bargain I hoped for

Pros: Most bang for the buck at the time I bought it. Performance is excellent, when it performs.

Cons: - Overheats like crazy even without overclocking
- The standard cooling profile for the card is a joke, and will cause immediate overheating
- Even a custom cooling profile via MSI Afterburner cannot stop it from shutting down my computer when the GPU stays maxed out for any length of time
- Noisy
- This thing is a brick. I wouldn't even consider it for tight enclosures.

Other Thoughts: I wanted to upgrade my old I5-750 system without spending a fortune, so I decided my old Radeon 5770 needed to go. I'm now questioning that wisdom.

My old card was quiet and reliable. The new PowerColor GPU is noisy and causes my computer to shutdown, and I don't even tax it with really cutting edge games. Why should I have to deal with this?

I ended up installing software I didn't want (MSI Afterburner), creating a cooling profile I shouldn't need, and installing high performance case fans that my system had not required in four years of use. Suddenly I found myself wishing I had spent more money on a nicer card that ran more predictably. Buyer beware.

5 out of 5 eggsPossibly the best purchase I've ever made...

Pros: Handles everything that I've thrown at it from IL2 to ARMA2 without a problem.

Cons: It didn't come with bacon......everything is better with bacon.

Other Thoughts: Wish I would have had the cash to buy two of them.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Replacement to 6870 crossfire!

Pros: This card is amazing, beats out my 6870 crossfire for performance, looks much smoother. Card looks nice in my case as well can't wait to get another. Price is right!

Cons: Only one fan, can get pretty hot, generates a lot of heat in the case which isn't a problem for me but may be for some.

Other Thoughts: I was sad this isn't for sale anymore, makes no sense seeing what a great card this is. I still recommend the 7870 over most nvidia cards if cost is a concern.
