1 out of 5 eggsDoes not support good range of resolutions

Pros: Cheap

Cons: I am using it with HDMI cable on a Dell 24" monitor. My older Nvidia card has a flaky fan so I replaced the card with this one. It is unable to provide similar resolution. Some resolutions are centered on the monitor and do not stretch to edges. This did not happen with my old Nvidia card.

Manufacturer Response:

This is Raymond from powercolor, we apologize for the issue you are facing with the card. To troubleshoot the card, please run a driver sweeper and install a brand new driver. The issue that you are facing sounds like a driver problem. Feel free to email me at so that we can troubleshoot the card together.

Best Regards,

5 out of 5 eggsGreat for the price!

Pros: -Unlike the complaints from the other reviewers, I received a brand new package- perhaps whatever happened during the initial shipments of cards finally got cleared up? I admit I was especially nervous after hearing about all these complaints
-Low profile, which was a necessity for my HTPC slim case
-Inexpensive, especially after MIR and shellshocker
-Provides enough power for most day to day graphics (including windows 7 aero), as well as providing HDMI output for 1080p HD video playing to a TV

Cons: -The heatsink is a pretty sad design, basically just a sliver of aluminum with a small fan. It is fairly quiet during normal use and video playing, but for those purposes I would prefer a good passive heatsink. However, the fan does have its advantages (see other thoughts)...
-Don't expect a graphical powerhouse, though see my "other thoughts" below

Other Thoughts: Believe it or not, you CAN play certain video games on this card. I was able to run Starcraft 2 and Diablo 3 at medium settings 1080p resolution at >30fps (for SC2, you would be more limited by your CPU). This card would also have an easy time with games like minecraft and WoW. It's a good thing this card has a fan though, because the card's cooler ramps up quite a bit and it's no longer quiet while gaming; though for such a cheap card it's a minor miracle that the card can do this much in the first place.

I would recommend this card when it's on sale if you have modest HTPC and gaming needs, as to step up to a "real" gaming card requires spending around $75 for a R7 240 and at least $120 for good performance with a R7 260X.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Put this into an old LGA775 box for HDMI out and HD video playback. It works great for this purpose.

Cons: Would rather have a fanless setup, but we'll see how it holds up. Can't really complain for $10 after MIR.

Other Thoughts: No issues installing into a PCIe 1.0 slot.

5 out of 5 eggsbox opend does NOT mean refurbished

Pros: works great, very straight forward installation; got my rebate already (some people just can't follow instructions, sigh)

Cons: no VGA out, but that output is rarely used these days

Other Thoughts: Yes, the one I received was also opened, had its serial number crossed out and re-taped with another serial number sticker. I was concerned at first too but after careful inspection I found out why. First thing I noticed was that the card looked absolutely brand new and no sign of usage at all. Secondly, the word "PEGATRON" is printed on the PCB board indicating these were made by Pegatron and sold by Powercolor. Therefore Pegatron had their own serial numbers attached first then shipped these in bulk to Powercolor. When Powercolor receives these they had to use their own serial number system which explains this ordeal. This is a very common practice among manufacturers.

5 out of 5 eggsGood option for basic needs

Pros: Low profile, HDMI and DVI out, 1GB DDR3

Cons: none right now

Other Thoughts: My previous graphics card did not support HDCP so this was a good cheap upgrade for my home computer where I occasionally use as a media center.

2 out of 5 eggs

Pros: I bought this card to see if a rig that i had built in 2007 would run a newer card. It ran Battlefield 3 pretty decent for a low end card.

Cons: I had read the comments about the bogus mail in rebate and I thought i would give it a try anyway. Three months later and after jumping threw all the hoops they have I still haven't received the rebate. Now I'm getting ready to update my rig and i will never buy a card from PowerColor again. I plan on moving up to medium range card. 200-300 hundred range. there loss
