5 out of 5 eggsRock Solid

Pros: Cooling: Doesn't get above 66C under full load-Amazing!
Benchmarks really, really well
Built solid, has protective plate on opposite side of card
Plenty of connection options
Don't need Crossfire cable

Honestly, I got this on rebate for $240, if I could have gotten two I would have.....

Cons: Gets touchy with display drivers - I had to reinstall CCC and randomly on boot up (several restarts later) I got a black screen. Checked the forums, downloaded displaydriveruninstaller and ran in safe-mode. Reinstalled CCC and haven't had an issues since.

Other Thoughts: Takes 8-pin + 6-pin power connectors - I new this going in

Big power means big card, make sure you have room, I have the HAF X so it wasn't an issue

Takes 2.5 slots of space, so plan carefully if you're planning on crossfire - I didn't realize this ahead of time, but not an issue

3 out of 5 eggsBlack Screen Issues

Pros: Good Cooling Solution on card and seems well built physically. PowerColor seems on the right track.

Cons: I get black screens when I leave games and go on internet. It seems to go away when I down clock everything. It is a big headache and there is no bios updates at PowerColor website to fix issue. E-Mailed the Raymond guy on dec. 5th and never heard back.

Other Thoughts: I run a 900w Gold PSU and have the card running on 2 separate 12v rails. Completely checked out my system and it is not the issue. These cards seem to have a bios issue when it comes to clock control/power in low power state. Why the don't publish a bios on website to address issue is beyond me. Company support seems questionable and card may not live up to specs.

5 out of 5 eggsFantastic Card!

Pros: - New build, No Issues. Last build I did was summer of '08.
- It seems powercolor support is on top of their game, even though I never needed it.
- Price! I picked it up for 239.99 + MIR
- Cannot hear it over my loud music and briefcase theft.
- Card can be used as a weapon.

Cons: - Made me feel like somewhat less of a man.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks great. As advertised.

Pros: Enables great high graphics settings in high-end games.
Not loud.
Good price.
Easy to install.

Cons: It doesn't cook me dinner.
It can't change the oil in my car.
It's not a 290x.

Other Thoughts: But seriously, I didn't want a 290x. This is a good card. It's in an NZXT H440 with an i5 4690k. Nothing is overclocked. We have been playing Far Cry 4 on High settings with v-sync enabled for around 70-90 frames per second (depending on in-game location) with a peak temperature of 71C. I'm sure we could up it to Very High, although the game is beautiful even on High. Titanfall and Watch Dogs settings are maxed out. I didn't have any trouble installing the hardware or the software. I just had a minor hiccup trying to find the software. I expected it to be on Powercolor's site, but it was actually the standard download on AMD.com. I can hear when the 3 fans are on max, but it's still pretty quiet through the H440 case. I'd definitely recommend this video card, especially when there's a rebate like when I got it.

5 out of 5 eggsFast and cool card

Pros: got the card 1 week after black friday for 249 and with MIR 219. its very cheap for 290 series.installation very easy and now i am using omega driver without any problem.
Play all my game on ultra without hiccup at 1080, but on 5760 then you can see drop fps.

Cons: nothing

Other Thoughts: bought this card to be paired with my Sapphire vapor x 290, and it worked well. good job powercolor

1 out of 5 eggsUnstable, graphical anomalies

Pros: Price

Cons: Constant flickering even at the Windows desktop, made worse when trying to run 144hz. Windows resize when turning on monitors, and freezing occurs when returning from standby.

Other Thoughts: None of this was an issue with my 660ti, which I'll be going back to.

Manufacturer Response:

5 out of 5 eggsBest Bang for Buck

Pros: Runs 35c at idle, 50-60c while at 100% load with stock speed.

No bios issues,no blackscreens, and no driver issues.

Just downloaded the most recent drivers from AMD's site and it was plug and play.

Cons: Bit on the larger side, but the cooling does justify the size.

Other Thoughts: This card with a i5 4690k runs these games at ultra:

League of Legends at over 300 fps
Gw2 at 80-130 fps
Shadow of Mordor at 60-85 fps
Unigine Heaven and Valley 60 fps average

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent graphics card!

Pros: 1. Cheap ($240 before rebate)
2. Excellent performance (>60 fps all the latest games on Ultra settings at 1080p)
3. One of the best coolers (Idling at ~40C. Max 68 C while gaming with an average case and air flow)
4. Very quite fans (even at 80-100% fan speeds I can barely hear it. No whining or any weird noises either).

Cons: None so far

Other Thoughts: Purchased during Cyber Monday sale.Worked flawlessly right out of the box. Didn't have to update BIOS or anything else. Paired up with the newest AMD Catalyst Omega drivers without any issues (not that I was expecting any). Has overclocking potential.
System specs for reference:
i5 4690k + h100i
Asus z97-AR
2x4 GSkill Sniper 1600
EVGA Supernova750W G2
NZXT S340 (with x2 stock 120mm fans)

5 out of 5 eggsUpdated review Ariel G.

Pros: Overclocking is easy and transparent.
Downloaded the easy to find drivers within minutes and I was playing BF4 on Ultra (EVERYTHING) with consistent 60fps! sometimes more.

**I have since over clocked this thing like crazygaining almost 15-20% more raw power than the reference AMD R9 290 and about 10% more than the card out of the box.

Here are great reviews showing actual testing.

Look up the review from 2014 by Sanjin Rados on 2014. Great review

look up the review on overlockers by Humbug in APR of 2014

I have almost exactly similar specs to the 2nd review. I have less experience over clocking than both the reviewers and I learned a LOT.

I REALLY want to emphasize just how EASY overclocking this card has been.

The 3 star rating is underserved and I hope many of you take the time, that I did, and really try to read thru the stuff that most people post on here and give this card a bad review.*

Cons: I wish I could afford two! LOL

Other Thoughts: I noticed A LOT of people were having problems with this card. From what I gather, the BIOS settings have been updated on all current cards and now there is no issues. These reviews with 0 or 1 stars I believe are not current anymore as people have not updated the fact that this is not an issue anymore. I had no problem getting the card installed and playing within 20 minutes.
