5 out of 5 eggsBest Bang for Buck

Pros: Runs 35c at idle, 50-60c while at 100% load with stock speed.

No bios issues,no blackscreens, and no driver issues.

Just downloaded the most recent drivers from AMD's site and it was plug and play.

Cons: Bit on the larger side, but the cooling does justify the size.

Other Thoughts: This card with a i5 4690k runs these games at ultra:

League of Legends at over 300 fps
Gw2 at 80-130 fps
Shadow of Mordor at 60-85 fps
Unigine Heaven and Valley 60 fps average

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent graphics card!

Pros: 1. Cheap ($240 before rebate)
2. Excellent performance (>60 fps all the latest games on Ultra settings at 1080p)
3. One of the best coolers (Idling at ~40C. Max 68 C while gaming with an average case and air flow)
4. Very quite fans (even at 80-100% fan speeds I can barely hear it. No whining or any weird noises either).

Cons: None so far

Other Thoughts: Purchased during Cyber Monday sale.Worked flawlessly right out of the box. Didn't have to update BIOS or anything else. Paired up with the newest AMD Catalyst Omega drivers without any issues (not that I was expecting any). Has overclocking potential.
System specs for reference:
i5 4690k + h100i
Asus z97-AR
2x4 GSkill Sniper 1600
EVGA Supernova750W G2
NZXT S340 (with x2 stock 120mm fans)

5 out of 5 eggsUpdated review Ariel G.

Pros: Overclocking is easy and transparent.
Downloaded the easy to find drivers within minutes and I was playing BF4 on Ultra (EVERYTHING) with consistent 60fps! sometimes more.

**I have since over clocked this thing like crazygaining almost 15-20% more raw power than the reference AMD R9 290 and about 10% more than the card out of the box.

Here are great reviews showing actual testing.

Look up the review from 2014 by Sanjin Rados on 2014. Great review

look up the review on overlockers by Humbug in APR of 2014

I have almost exactly similar specs to the 2nd review. I have less experience over clocking than both the reviewers and I learned a LOT.

I REALLY want to emphasize just how EASY overclocking this card has been.

The 3 star rating is underserved and I hope many of you take the time, that I did, and really try to read thru the stuff that most people post on here and give this card a bad review.*

Cons: I wish I could afford two! LOL

Other Thoughts: I noticed A LOT of people were having problems with this card. From what I gather, the BIOS settings have been updated on all current cards and now there is no issues. These reviews with 0 or 1 stars I believe are not current anymore as people have not updated the fact that this is not an issue anymore. I had no problem getting the card installed and playing within 20 minutes.

5 out of 5 eggsUnbelievable

Pros: The performance level of this card is unbelievable. I have an i5 2500k in my fairly old system, and every single new game i threw at it runs on maxed out settings @1080p with utmost fluidity. Far Cry 4, Star Citizen (beta stuff), even Witcher 2. Another thing would be the price. I got this for $210 after rebate, so that money for this level of performance was hands down the best value on the market for a long, long time. I guess, the cooler is worth some praise too. Certainly keeps the GPU below 70C, so that's very far away from throttling temperatures.

Cons: Does get a bit loud when some really high end games are thrown at it, but nothing like my old GTX470 was when that was stock. Furmark can push it to unreasonable noise levels, but that's to my ear. After all, my previous card was watercooled eventually. That being said, I think that this card is reasonably quiet for most of the time and I wouldn't consider getting a waterblock for it. Drivers/manual was sort of nonexistent, but who cares anyways? if you get your drivers from CDs that come with cards then you're really doing it wrong. AMD has newest software that you want anyways. oh, another thing, the power draw of this card is colossal.

Other Thoughts: I got this after years of owning a watercooled gtx470. Obviously, I expected this to be a better card than the previous one, but this beast took those expectations and absolutely destroyed them. It's completely unbelievable what this thing can do. I received the new card revision of the board, R29FA, with the new bios already on it and have had absolutely no issues with the card. That being said, I run it off of a Platinum 660W SeaSonic PSU. You absolutely have to have an incredibly stable PSU for this to run right. The power draw can jump nearly 250W within 1/10 second. That means that the power supply rating is sort of irrelevant for this card. Yhave to have one that can squeeze out at least a constant 550W, but your 12V rail amp stability has to be rock solid. I suspect that even some of the supplies past that 750W recommendation are simply not gonna cut the mustard. Just because this video card is priced cheap, don't think that it can be ran on a budget PSU.
I also have to commend NewEgg on their service here. After purchase, I let them know that the four games did not seem to go with it and they immediately got those shipped. That was pretty cool :)
Anyways, if you have a very good power supply, and want the best value in the video card market then this is it for sure. Simply amazing card, that looks fancy and runs absolutely everything at extreme settings, while staying cool and relatively quiet while doing so.

4 out of 5 eggsDefinitely worth the money saved vs other 290s

Pros: Competes with cards much more expensive, more than enough for 1080p. Seems very well built, runs very cool for an r9 290

Cons: This thing is massive, really heavy card if that bothers you. It's definitely louder than my old card but nothing major and far better than reference.

Other Thoughts: It's only been a week but there hasn't been any problems after pretty heavy usage. The brand was my biggest worry about this card as I've not heard great things about powercolor, but so far so good.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello,

This is Raymond from PowerColor. We are glad that you like the card. If you should have any issues with it, please let me know. Raymond.Hsu@powercolor.com

Best Regards,
Raymond

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Amazing card and a great price I got it for $239 with a $30 rebate.

Cons: I have had the drivers crash once and when I checked the ATI software the activity on the card was 100% for no reason at all nothing was loaded but windows. I restarted my PC and it went away for now.

4 out of 5 eggsCheap and quiet

Pros: The card feels like quality. There is no annoying coil whine. It performs absolutely great in games and is surprisingly quiet.

Cons: BIOS
BIOS
BIOS

Other Thoughts: Like many others I had to contact Raymond for the fixed BIOS to get rid of all the initial issues with my card. Luckily it was a quick process and very easy to update the BIOS. I recommend the card, just make sure to preemptively email support for the BIOS...
