4 out of 5 eggsCan tackle most of the games I throw at it

Pros: This beast can handle Witcher 3 and Assassin's Creed Unity. I haven't played any other games on it though so I can comment.

Cons: There is a bit of coil whine though and I can hear it distinctly. Although the coil whine goes away after a couple of seconds of opening Witcher 3. So as soon as I start actually playing there is absolutely no more coil whine.

Other Thoughts: This GPU was a good investment in my opinion. I can actually play the games I want on high/ultra settings and it does not have an FPS lag. So I'm happy with that.

3 out of 5 eggsGames look amazing. Coil whine annoys when not gaming unless running Linux

Pros: No coil whine at Linux desktop. Coil whine in games isn't bad if you have headphones or turn up the volume.

Cons: Coil whine at Windows desktop. Tried Win 7 x32 and x64 with 3 catalyst driver versions and tried full catalyst install and driver only. Win 8.1 x64 with different driver versions. All desktops have coil whine and annoyed me to death.

Note using the open source driver Ubuntu 14.04 and Fedora 20,21 did NOT have any coil whine issues.

Other Thoughts: I use Linux as a primary desktop for surfing the internet and media. No coil whine under these operating systems. Gaming only pc and Linux desktop users if the price on this card is competitive go for it!

1 out of 5 eggsAMD drivers are GARBAGE

Pros: High power hardware

Cons: The driver support for AMD is terrible. I have tried every version of drivers from the included CD (version 13.xx) to the current beta version (14.xx) and they are ALL flawed. Either my machine will lose sound, or it crashes entirely (preceded by the AMD Black Screen of Death - google it).

Additionally, this product is NON REFUNDABLE. I wanted to exchange it for a comparably priced NVidia card, but it was not possible. Newegg told me I would have to contact the vendor.

Other Thoughts: Avoid AMD at all costs. The hardware is superior, but the software support is garbage. It's like having a Ferrari with no tires. I had always used NVidia in the past, but took some advice to give AMD a shot since their hardware is superior. Lesson learned.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: - Legendary double precision compute performance.
- Comes with a backplate! (Which is pretty outstanding for a card in this price range).
- Good price, and often comes with a MIR on top of it.

Cons: - Has some coil whine, but not too much.
- By now this architecture is really dated, but then again no newer model from AMD come anywhere close in terms of double precision compute performance to price ratio.

Other Thoughts: I bought this card mostly for OpenCL compute. In double precision calculations, it has 1/2 performance of Titan Black, for 1/6 the price.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Card

Pros: So far it's been a great card. Plays all my games at there fullest.

Cons: There is some talk about the noise that this card makes when under load. So far my card hasn't made a lot of noise, but then again it's hard to hear two little fans inside a case when playing BF4

Other Thoughts: Well be getting another one for a Crossfire setup.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Card

Pros: On sale this was by far the most powerful card for the money and it runs all of my games at 60fps or better on max settings while running fine temps. The solidity of the card and fan cover is impressive as well. It is a huge step up from my 7850 2GB.

Cons: Some have complained about this card being noisy and on my old single rail power supply it had a distinct cricket like whistle under high load. It wasn't bad but it was noticeable and it was not coming from the power supply. I did replace the power supply on my system a month after the card install after snagging a good one on sale. I have no idea why but the R9's harmonic whistle disappeared with the new power supply and its dead silent now.

Other Thoughts: I could not be more pleased with this purchase. The initial sale, the rebate, and the free games made this purchase a spectacular value. Power Color may do lousy job communicating about the rebate but they did send it!

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Card

Pros: Came in very nice packaging, looks very nice through my case window. It does exactly what I would expect it to do, playing games on high or very high settings, seamlessly. The black cover of the PCB makes it look very durable and clean. I don't hear any noise coming from over the relatively quiet fans I have. Absolutely a great buy.

Cons: I sent in the mail-in rebate about three weeks ago, and I have no word about if my rebate was accepted or when I can expect to get it. However, this does not have anything to do with the card itself

1 out of 5 eggsDisgusting Customer Service - Probably not going to be able to get rebate

Pros: None

Cons: The customer service at PowerColor is absolutely awful. One step in the rebate claiming process is impossible to follow based on the way I paid for my purchase. PowerColor should have taken it into consideration when designing the rebate forms as it is something that must be quite common, but they didn't. It should have been very simple to work out, but as it turns out, the customer service rep for the rebate department is incapable of reading a simple question. After I sent my question, he/she just sent some random nonsense that doesn't even relate to what I was asking. After exchanging several emails, the rep asked "What is your question?". Honestly, that happened. After several emails and the considering the fact that my question was in the first email that was sent(therefore right in front of him/her), we were still only at the point where they still didn't read the question and were too lazy to scroll down the email and read it. I said that I had enough experience with bad customer service to know when I am never going to get an answer, so I wanted the direct email address for the manager or supervisor(as that was the only chance that I would ever have to get an answer). At that point, the rep broke off contact with me. I contacted all other departments at PowerColor listed on the website to get the email address for the manager or supervisor of the rebate department. There are four other departments and I got exactly zero responses. My assumption is that they have only one rep who is supposed to reply to questions for every department, and that rep is incapable of reading simple quesions and is dishonest enough to try to block communication with his/her superiors. The emails don't even contain a name for the customer service rep or tracking number. Even other companies with lousy customer service give names of reps so you at least know who you are communicating with. But, like I said earlier, they probably only have one rep, so I guess that they didn't feel the need to identify him/her.

My rebate eligability period is running out and considering that the company has broken off contact with me, I will probably not even be able to get the rebate now. These cards are cheap for a reason. PowerColor saves money by not hiring many workers and not paying out rebates. Since they obviously don't have any employee standards, they don't have to pay the few employees that they do have very much. There are reputable companies that have similar/better video cards for similar prices and you won't have to worry about such disgusting "customer service". Don't make the same mistake that I did, you will regret it.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello,

We apologize regarding your experience with the rebate.

Pros: None

Cons: Fan spins but no signal to the monitor. Have tried different monitors, different PCI-E slots, and different computer. Same result.
