1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Claims to support 4 monitors...

Cons: Due to other issues I wasnt able to use this for longer than a few hours for about 30 days, and then immediately realized the card isnt stable for longer than a few hours of just one 4k monitor idling with no changes on screen.

1 out of 5 eggsLike I said before, what a disappointment

Pros: None

Cons: As you will see in my previous review below I had a major problem with this card locking up all my screens (4) after 15-20 minutes of use or after coming out of screen saver/sleep mode. My only solution to this dilemma was to hit the reset button and start my work over when my primary monitor was blue screened. I sent the video card back to Powercolor for warranty replacement. The turn around time was about ten days. Powercolor sent the same exact card back to me and told me there was only a faulty bearing in the fan which they replaced. I inserted this card back in my 4-monitor computer and within a week I was having trouble again only instead of losing the picture on 3 or 4 monitors, now only one monitor goes out after a screen-saver or sleep sequence. Needless to say I have to restart the whole machine or hit the rest button to recover from the situation. So now I will have to go through this warranty return again with Powercolor and have my system limp along on two screens with another substitute video card.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello,

We did not send the same card back. If you are still facing issues, more than likely there's something wrong with your system. Please email me and we can troubleshoot your computer system. Raymond.Hsu@powercolor.com

Best Regards,
Raymond

1 out of 5 eggsWhat a disappointment

Pros: I previously had two Powercolor HD 7750 video cards driving my 4 monitors and the performance was acceptable. Scrolling was smooth and I had no intermittent screen flashes. I moved these two cards to another more important computer and replaced them with this Powercolor AXR7 250... it was a huge mistake. The only "pro" for this card is the low profile size and the well crafted solid rear mini display port connections.

Cons: In initial testing of this new video card I connected monitors to ports 1 and 2. On ports 3 & 4 I simply attached the 9" long mini display port to DVI adapter pigtails and let them hang loose. Port 3 pigtail got so hot during setup that I thought it was going to start a fire. When I hooked up the four monitors the heat subsided but I lost the smooth scrolling on screen and started getting periodic intermittent screen flashing. Incidentally I installed the most up-to-date driver from the Powercolor website to run this new graphics card. But the worst was yet to come. Ten or 15 minutes after boot up and opening a browser plus a few programs like Schwab's SSE stock tracker which covers my 4 screens the Powercolor AXR7 250 became so overwhelmed with this basic simple data that all four screens lost all the windows and turned sold blue, needless to say I lost control of my computer. The only solution has to push the reset button. The idea behind this card is commendable but the engineering is sadly lacking for the simple tasks at hand. This is the last Powercolor product I ever buy.

Other Thoughts: This is my sixth Powercolor video card and it will be my last. Four out of the 6 cards I have bought over the years have given me problems which always always include never properly recovering after the computer comes out of sleep mode. Three of the 6 video cards I have returned to the manufacturer for replacement. Two have come back to me OK, one came back totally unusable and was tossed in the waste basket.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello,

This is Raymond from PowerColor. We apologize for the issue that you are faced with. Please contact me and we can troubleshoot the card. Raymond.Hsu@powercolor.com.

Best Regards,
Raymond

5 out of 5 eggsPerfect for SFF PCs

Pros: Works in Dell Optiplex SFF PCs
4 monitors!
Includes 2 DP and 2 DVI adapters

Cons: Be careful to check if you'll need more adapters or miniDP to DP cables.

Other Thoughts: We're running 3 1080p monitors with these. Switch to the included low-profile bracket, drop in the card, install drivers from amd.com, everything just works. Now I just need a business case for a 4th monitor and a 3+1 monitor mounting bracket.

3 out of 5 eggsDecent card

Pros: 4 monitor display

Cons: Needed other components for 4 monitors

Other Thoughts: Bought this card thinking I could simply connect the cables and it would run 4 displays. I was wrong. I was converting the mini DP to HDMI. This card, like all other eyefinity cards only supports 2 displays until you get an Active Adapter. I had to buy 4 active adapters at $25 a piece to make this work, almost doubling the cards price. Just wish id known this before i purchased the card.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome Card for Eyefinity..

Pros: Supports 4 simultaneous monitors, has 4 mini DP ports and they provide 2 mini DP to DVI and 2 mini DP to Display Port adapters.
Works in the following modes
1 group of 4 monitors [Extended]
2 groups of 2 monitors
1 group of 3 monitors and 1 group of 1 monitor.
Comes with LP bracket and this card works fine on my HP 6305 SFF desktop
This card works with no trouble with my 90% efficient 240W power supply with the A8-5500B. Packaging says 400W minimum power supply. Not sure where this number comes from, since this card can draw all its power from PCI-E slot. According to the PCI-E standard you aren't allowed to draw more than 75W.

Cons: AMD/ATI software installation is a mess. I ended up disabling my onboard video card to avoid clashes between the A8-5500B video and this card.
