5 out of 5 eggsNice

Pros: On sale it was a great deal, pretty powerful card for the money. Temps are just fine for me, I adjust the cards fans as needed for gaming or hot summer days. Overclocks to 900/1300 just fine. Smokes the green teams offering at this price point. Plays all the games I have just fine on high settings.

Cons: Draws a bit of juice, but hey the card is built using a larger die than current AMD GPU's have. Really, I see no cons except for Orenthal James Simpson.

Other Thoughts: REBATE INFORMATION:
This was the fastest rebate I ever got back, no fooling! Hats off to honoring the hoops we have to go through to get a bonus check. Thank you Powercolor.

5 out of 5 eggsHappy user, rebate honored

Pros: At the time of purchase a rebate brought the price down to double digits, so I decided to add another 6970 to my system for Crossfire. The result was massively increased performance in most titles at a pretty low cost. My existing card is an old MSI 6970, and this new card consistently runs about 20 degrees cooler. I want my system to last me a couple more years, and I feel like this will let me do that. I can run max settings or close to it for most games at 1080p. Additionally, the rebate was received promptly with no hassle. I waited to review this card until the rebate check arrived.

Cons: I have had no issues with the card or rebate. This is older technology in the Radeon lineup, but it can be an excellent value at the right price.

Other Thoughts: My system was originally built 7 years ago on an MSI K9A2 Platinum. It has seen some upgrades but is now in its final form: Phenom II 940 BE OC@3.6GHz, 8GB DDR2, 2x6970 (one of which is this card), SB X-Fi ExtremeMusic, 2x120GB SSD and 2x500GB HDD in RAID1, 650W Seasonic PSU. 650W drives everything fine for me. I have overclocked the memory on the new PowerColor 6970 slightly to match the memory speed on the older MSI card.

5 out of 5 eggsAddressing the Temperature Concerns

Pros: I just want to mention that AMD specifies the maximum temperature for this GPU at over 100 degrees C. It's not uncommon to see these cards run over 90C when running benchmarks, especially FurMark which is an unrealistic benchmark in the first place since no gaming activity will stress the GPU at 100% continuously. Don't be scared of the heat, at least not as far as burning up the card. It will run fine well into the 90C range. You may have to make some special arrangements for removing heat buildup from the case, but that's more to protect other components in the case than it is to protect the graphics cards themselves.

Cons: None, just addressing previously mentioned heat concerns

4 out of 5 eggsAwesome Video Card

Pros: This video card is fabulous.. It runs very well and I haven't seen it run to hot at all. at Idle I get between 35 37 Celsius and under load I never saw it go over 57 degrees. It does require a lot of power to run this beast. an 8pin & 6pin to supply the power it needs. I run under win 7 pro and WEI gives this a 7.9 rating

Cons: the only con I have is maybe its size. This card is very large and I am sure it would not fit in a micro computer

Other Thoughts: I have yet to play any games with this card but from my experience I will say that I am sure it will do very well

1 out of 5 eggsUnknown heating problems

Pros: It does work and in cross fire but...(see cons)

Cons: Just plain runs too hot, even by it's self, or not in cross fire with the card crammed up against the other card. I've tracked the temps and this card NEVER EVER goes below 79 or so C. Heck it idles at 60 something. I've since "UNDER" driven the card and put fans all over the thing to keep it cool during game usage. I'm gonna have to invest in another/better cooler for it to keep it.

Other Thoughts: Its no wonder they've offered to refund some of the money on this card. power color will NOT honor warranty, they just shift the heating problems off on AMD. I just wrote this review again so as new egg folks will see that some of these cards are just old junk the co's had lying around. This, is one of them. It has NO warranty at all. The power color tech just says that AMD says that their chips are supposed to burn up right away because they(powercolor) don't want to spent the effort on a functional cooler in/for crossfire usage. Heck cannot sell video cards that have functional coolers on them.. they might last too long..etc... yeah, that's it, very technical.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello,

This is Raymond from PowerColor, we apologize for the issue that you faced with the card. We do not offer refunds on any card purchased.

Your card carries a two year warranty from the original purchase date.

We try to make the best quality product for our users, we will not purposely try to burn up our cards.

Best Regards,
Raymond

5 out of 5 eggsPowerful & Power Hunger

Pros: I have had the execat same carder , but labeled Vision Tech for about 16 months. This is a great card, but plan on getting at least a power supply with 55 plus amps of 12 volts, otherwise you'll have problems. Per GPU-Z band width 153 GB/s, Pixel Fillrate 27.8 G Pixels, Texture 83.5 G Texel/s , ROP/TMU 32/96

Cons: None

5 out of 5 eggsPleasantly surprised

Pros: Fast, cost effective graphics solution. Plays everything I throw at it no problem. I don't really get into comparing brute FPS between cards, since I never play past 75hz on the monitor anyway, I don't like tearing so vsync is always on. This card is extremely fast, it games very well at high game settings. No complaints for the price. Overclocked to 940/1375, runs flawlessly. Could probably go higher just haven't tried.

Cons: A tad noisy, but many other cards in this class are as well so not really a problem for me. Runs warm at stock settings, but I always use ATItool to control overclocking and fan speed manually so again not a problem for me really.

Other Thoughts: All around a good deal for a lot of horsepower. Not the newest gpu on the block but a solid card nonetheless.
