5 out of 5 eggsAmazing performance for a single card GPU

Pros: This card is over the top. The packaging and presentation are great and the card itself is impressive weighing in at nearly 6+Kg. I've read the reviews about heat and noise and I don't think the card is that loud. I upgraded from a 2x R9 290 setup to two R9 290X II cards and the noise levels are comparable if not lower than the they were with my previous setup. Great card, once I received a working unit.

Cons: I purchased two of these at Christmas on sale and I had to send them in for RMA as soon as I received them due to hardware failure and/or shipping mishandling. I measured the power draw with a meter and found the card to be pulling ~500W. With a 4790K, the total power draw peaked at around ~693W.

Other Thoughts: Powercolor does have a 2 year warranty and they do honor it. NewEgg and PowerColor were great through the RMA process, but please note it does take 2-3 replacement.

1 out of 5 eggsUnstable and Broken

Pros: Value is amazing if it actually worked.

Cons: Unstable with latest drivers, only one GPU core is detected. It seems like the second GPU core is dead.
This card has quality control issues.

Other Thoughts: Do not get this card. Too many issues for a card that is asking a premium price.

Manufacturer Response:

4 out of 5 eggseasy, affordable, and a powerhouse but...

Pros: Dual 290x with out liquid cooling worries or 295x cost. Nice looks.

Cons: Loud - That double blade fan looks cool but they make alot of chop noise.
Hot - That double balded fan looks cool but bench marking had it up to 87 deg C.
Power Hog - Not any more than 295x or 2-way 290x but still be aware
Not the fastest 290x's - They have been down clocked and can't clock them up with out worrying about heat under full load. Forget over clocking with out modding the cooler. (There goes that three year warranty.)
Mother board must support crossfire.
Case must Have space and great air flow.
So why give it a 4/5 with these flaws. It is a enthusiast card these problems happen with crossfire or sli yet this card is easy and cost effective. I just hate the fans being form over function.

1 out of 5 eggsToo Glitchy For Me

Pros: Good for 1 gpu motherboards
Good price for performance
Metal shroud with rigid back plate for strength.

Cons: Super Loud
Drivers along with card simply made my system BSOD very often.
Super Hot, and bad cooling design. It is built to essentially just blow the hot air into the side of your case, so you NEED side exhaust for this thing which will make this thing easier to hear.

Other Thoughts: I thought I was getting a great 'Bang for your Buck' card. I mean the benchmarks for this card are amazing! I just don't understand how people actually got this card running at its full potential. Maybe it was my card that was faulty or maybe you just get what you pay for, and apparently since I got it on special, I got a piece of junk.

Lets start with the Power Jack, it was useless for me. For some reason it is designed to lift only 2 separate ranges of height. I have a fairly popular Fractal Design 4 case in which the power jack just wouldn't work in my set-up. The short setting was too small, and the tall setting was too tall. I had to make my own rig to keep the card straight so it was useless.
Now for the drivers, there just doesn't seem to be good drivers for this card. Certain games like Starcraft 2, and WoW were giving me problems on a lot of settings when this card should crush these games on max ultra. And other games like CS:GO were just Blue Screen haven's. I thought I could get around this, but much like the other reviewers I just couldn't. I tried fresh installs of windows 7 and windows 10 two times each to try to fix it to no avail. On several occasions I would have to completely disable the drivers in safe mode just to boot up. I did not overclock this thing at all and even in its stock condition it was flat out unstable.
The worst part about this whole thing was that I went through literally 20+ hours of troubleshooting for me to just say "its not worth it". I even bought a brand new 1200 watt power supply just to run this thing which ALSO had problems. As absurd as this whole situation was, I could have bought a Fury X with the time I spent working on this thing. I can't help feeling like I am owed something for having to deal with this, which is absurd I know, but this is a major problem! So many of the same people having the same issues with no fix.

1 out of 5 eggsBe wary if you have windows 10...

Pros: Great tech if it works with your system...

Cons: Could not get it to work with Windows 10, and MSI gaming 5 motherboard. I have a 1200 watt power supply so this was not the issue

Other Thoughts: I contacted Powercolor tech support and they said I needed to contact AMD for driver support and that my motherboard might be an issue - apparently there are some issues with MSI motherboards and this card design. As for the process of installing the card, I downloaded the latest AMD driver from AMD's website. I ran ddu cleaner is safe mode with the shutdown option. I then changed out the video card (previous one was a r9 290). Booted up the system and the generic windows driver worked fine. Installed the AMD driver and on reboot, windows 10 would not load. The only way I could get windows to load was to put in my old r9 290. I then tried the above process again - this time with the latest AMD beta drivers with the same result. I then put my r9 290 back in and tried the process with the previous driver and again no luck.... Would be an awesome card if it worked!

Manufacturer Response:

1 out of 5 eggsExperience hell

Pros: great looks.
Awesome attempt by power color.
When it works it works great.

Cons: don't bother installing a display driver instead just go on utorrent and browse for as much malware and Trojans as possible because you will at least then have less crashes and blue screens that way.
If you do manage to download a driver from power colors "professionally" built website then get ready to hold onto you pants cause it's gonna get wild. Blazing fast 480i performance like 30fps almost on par with the original ps1. This card won't give a @&$! what display you have nor cable, it will refuse to work with either. This card just plain sucks...oh oh and blows screw having a space heater this thing can burn a hole in the sun.

Other Thoughts: I bought two I eventually got the drivers to work (not powercolors) and at 4K this card can kick @!$ just the amount of time and effort it takes to get it up and running it's not worth the money. I'm happy with my performance and with my thermals, I just have a lot of patience. And time to make it work.

1 out of 5 eggsThis thing sucks

Pros: Nothing terrible card!!!!!

Cons: The first one I bought came to me DOA. The second one works but, makes the screen all fuzzy, doesn't play games, always stops working, and the drivers are out of date. Can't go and reinstall new drivers because the driver website on power color doesn't exist.

Other Thoughts: Great looking card. I was just surprised that my gtx 750 that I have in my micro build works 100% percent better. Also, for the price I would expect something better. Poor job on Power Colors end.

Manufacturer Response:

5 out of 5 eggsUpdate to "Mind-blowingly powerful" from 5/28/2015

Pros: An update to the original post of "Mind-blowingly powerful" made on 5/28/2015. This card in the listed set-up has been running ever since the date of posting, and I mean running. Our code was set-up to queue jobs such that the card was running 24/7 with zero down time. Using AMD catalyst control center, the fans were set to 100%, boost was enabled by pushing the little red button on the side, and the power (frequencies) was pushed to +10%. The card chugged through data that would have taken over 150 years on our 12-core server in the matter of 3 months without fail. During this time at full load, the screen would once in a while flicker or the dual monitor support would stop, but those were resolved by either turning down the memory frequency and unplugging the monitors (who wants to watch numbers be calculated anyways). The max temp this card saw was 65 C with full-bore fans, which were loud (after the computation stopped, people in the lab remarked how quiet it was). Once the drivers are set up and the system is optimized, this card can provide amazing performance. I'm curious to see how the new R3XX series performs.

Cons: None. 5 straight months of 100% load and this thing kept going.

1 out of 5 eggsExtremely Upset

Pros: It was a great card while it lasted.

Cons: The card broke right after the 30-day mark. This means that i am not able to return it or get a refund. Was not overclocked, not abused. Broke under Average LOAD!

Other Thoughts: Don't buy this card, it breaks very easily.

Manufacturer Response:
