5 out of 5 eggsWorks great

Pros: Bought this for a cheap video card that would support dual monitors on my work PC. Did the job and did it well. Lasted me for about 6 months, before I decided to ditch dual monitors in favor of one big monitor.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Newegg rocked as always, fast delivery and great prices!

3 out of 5 eggsDidn't work for me

Pros: Does what it is advertised to do. Decent video quality for non gaming purposes. Good price

Cons: Runs HOT!!! Using Fanspeed, I got a GPU temp of over 80c within a few minutes of installation. Only knocking off 2 eggs because this could be due in part to my PC. I'm running in a small form factor Dell that isn't exactly designed for optimum cooling. Still, would not run this card in any machine with marginal cooling capacity. Unless you have solid ventilation in your case, I don't think the heat sink alone is enough to do the job.

4 out of 5 eggsGood for the price

Pros: Easy to pull the back mounting plate to switch the video card from standard to the low profile is really handy. Easy to install and instructions are easy to follow.

Cons: Software that comes with the video card is for windows 64-bit or 32-bit and you need to know which version of windows you are running or you will get error messages.

Other Thoughts: There is a free movie redemption code on the inside of the cover box from PNY. The selections that they have are some of the older movies. PNY gives you 1 credit to digital download one full movie from their site. Nice little bonus that I didn't know that I got when ordered this product. Also, don't know how many of this promotion they are including with this video card but it was a nice bonus.

3 out of 5 eggsGeForce 8400

Pros: Met my expectations, was an upgrade from intel GMA. It also fit perfectly in my HP slimline case

Cons: When I ordered this card, I had it shipped with the UPS 3 day guarantee, for 7 dollars. However, I ended up waiting 6 days for my product and it shipped from ONTARIO, CANADA. I also found that it was kept in a warehouse for 48 hours. Remember, I PAID 7 DOLLARS FOR THIS SHIPPING. So that's how it lost 1 egg. The other egg was lost because the instructions included are not specific to the card, and it seemed to be a general, dumbed down manual for all of their cards (-1/2 egg), and the low profile bracket required a tool that was not included (-1/2 egg).

Other Thoughts: The bottom line is that I would recommend this card to people with very small computer cases and power supplies. If you have integrated graphics, this is definitely an upgrade, and for $30 you really can't go wrong.
Just keep in mind that, unless you live in Ontario, Canada, the 3 day or 2 day guarantees mean nothing, so save your money.

5 out of 5 eggsGood for business workstations, watch the GPU temp

Pros: Installed it in a slim form factor Dell Vostro 220s with Windows 7 Enterprise 32-bit. The onboard video auto-disabled and Windows booted perfectly and installed the driver automatically without even a restart. Pretty slick. I ran the full software installation anyway, and then ran Windows update to update the driver once again. Everything went without a hitch and now I'm on dual display. Am planning to roll this out to an office of about 40 users soon, if I can reasonably work out a minor cooling issue.

Cons: Ran HWMonitor and the GPU temp is showing 65C at idle (72C under load), and I'm a bit concerned about it. I'm shopping for a low profile PCI-slotted fan (preferable PCI-powered as well) to sit next to the PNY card just in case.

5 out of 5 eggsGood

Pros: Works very good. No fan so it does run a little hotter than others. 58°C to 64°C normal load. I added a 120mm side case fan to help. I usually use the extra fan during the summertime anyway.

Cons: Not for gamers

5 out of 5 eggsA truly fine basic board

Pros: An excellent basic board for high resolution 2D graphics, well supported by Linux without needing the nVidia binary blob driver. Small, no fan, no muss no fuss.

Cons: As noted, not for games, heavy duty 3D or HPC.

Other Thoughts: Don't be fooled by the low resolution picture of this board showing one plug in the back, the kit comes with a Y adapter that breaks out the two DVI interfaces.

5 out of 5 eggsgreat value, unique

Pros: 2 x DVI, dual-link
PCIE 2.0
newer G96 core, CUDA, full video hw acceleration
Low Profile bracket
Low power

Cons: not for games or heavy real time 3D

Other Thoughts: While some of these features are common to all G96-based 8400GS cards, PNY is the ONLY company offering: 2 x DVI, dual-link, fanless and low profile, for such a low price!

Previously the only way you could get such a combination was to opt for the overpriced Quadro cards.
