5 out of 5 eggssweet card for the $

Pros: Very nice card for the money. Will run any game... some brand new games..might need to set res to..1280*1024 or runs everything very nice..and if the game isn't brand will run it max..and u can record anygame... ...if ur on a budget get it.... i put it in a gamen pc built on a budget..with a 3.4ghz phenom black quad 8 gig ddr3 ampx ram... its still workin...ez install.....great card...60$...cant beat it.

Cons: ....runs hot... they say max temp for it is 100 Celsius ..but...if u have some knowledge...over 70c is hot... and some older cards will die at that will boot a new will hit..78 or more...then idle at 73....i use Evga precision (free download spyware free) to control fan speed... now its idle'n at 64...which is acceptable for ...long term life of the card and u can set fanspeed/temp in a graph form card 75c fan speed is 100%...if its 64c fan speed 55%.... defualt settings it runs 30% on idle...which just isnt enuff to cool the card down.

Other Thoughts: umm i kinda wanna buy another 1...and a heatsink/fan combo (cooling system) for them both and overclock them and run SLI overclocked :PP but thats overkill lol

1 out of 5 eggsLoser OUT OF BOX

Pros: NONE

Cons: Tried this card in 3 different LATE MODEL COMPUTERS. In all 3, as SOON as the power button was turned on, the power supplies TRIPPED OFF. I put a inductive type current meter around the 6 pin power plug in the back of the card, (around the wires going to it), and it PEGGED at 20 amps for the briefest part of a second until it tripped. THIS card is supposed to pull around 68-80 watts. NOT SEVERAL Hundred. JUNK.

3 out of 5 eggsFaulty Fan

Pros: Works fairly well, maybe not as well as expected, but when I first put it in 3 years ago, it was screaming fast compared to my ati x1650.

Cons: The fan died. 3 times. It's been RMAed 4 times. one time a power surge killed it, 3 more times, THE FAN DIED. And the third time I RMAd it, they didn't even put a new fan in, they just said the card was fine and sent it on back, cause the 3 time was the only time we didn't let it over heat and die. finally I took the heatsink off and just glued my own fan on there and sealed the edges with some silicon, and gess what? it runs 3 degress cooler. This card also runs hot (atleast for me) runs around 70C, no matter what I do.

Other Thoughts: A good card nonetheless, but it has issues that have led me to have some bad experiences, I don't recommend PNY.

1 out of 5 eggsWell, It did work for 2 days!

Pros: Single slot solution-SOMEBODY said it was the NEW G92 which is 55nm, it is NOT. Iwork in a VERY well equipped lab, and I CHEKCED the chip. It is 65nm. ie: OLD G92. Or, pretty much the SAME as a 8800GT.

Cons: I can't say whether MY experience is the exception, or the rule. BUT, It worked well for 2 days. It DID run hot, I had to use EVGA Precision to kick fan up to 80% to keep it under 70 deg. C. Fan did spin freely, and at right rpm. My case, is Wonderfully designed, especially where it comes to air flow. So, that was not it. Anyway, could not experiment, as it went DOA on 3rd day. Acted as if 6 pin power plug was not getting power, which it WAS! Mr. Fluke AN/77 said 3 power wires, 3 ground wires. 1250 watt power supply IS powering a lot(server 2 x Hex core), but, plenty left for a video card.

Other Thoughts: For the price, this stands to be a NICE video card, IF my experience with it's longevity is the exception, rather than the rule.

4 out of 5 eggsIt's a winner

Pros: It's a Single slot, and since I am using it in a server, which has lots of PCI-X sslots, and ONE PCI slot between the ONLY two PCIe x16 slots, makes it a good thing. The one PCI slot is directly below it, and since I have a sound card in it, the Video, has to be single slot.
It is the XLR8R model. Commonly known as the 1024 EE model from PNY. It uses the NEWER G92 chip, NOT the 65 nm one, it's the smaller one, at 55nm. Cooler, better all around.
Though, since I have it in such a tight place, mine initially idled at 64 deg. c. I kicked up fan speed to 70 %, and it came right down to 50 deg., and was still dropping. At that speed, it was almost undectectable. And, the area around this particular rack, is pretty quiet. All the servers in the rack, are HP's, and are VERY quiet right out of the box. So, it's nice that this card does not add to the little noise produced by all the others.
I got it for the price, and this server JUST cooked ATI onboard.

Cons: Can't find anything to complain about yet. And, I can almost ALWAYS find SOMETHING to complain about. :-)

Other Thoughts: It seems plenty fast, though I do NOT play games, so I can't comment as that aspect of the cards performance. OH, It came with DX9 software on the CD, COME ON, get real. Now, I don't load up DX software on Unixware, BUT for you Windoze folks, I THINK I would ditch that DX9, since It's a DX10 card??????????
OH, Had NO issues getting it to run under Unixware. And, It plays well with all other hardware, doesn't try to snatch something elses resources or any garbage like that.
