1 out of 5 eggsOverheated and died after about 6 months

Pros: cheap, pretty fast. Works well in Linux.

Cons: On board fan has tendency to break from what I read here. Mine did, and the card overheated and now it doesn't work for more than a few minutes before causing a crash.

Other Thoughts: Get something else.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Excellent graphics card if you currently don't have too much money left on you're budget. Runs W7 Ultimate at 1080p perfectly, and actually runs some games! Not recommended for games, but if you're running low and need a quick fix before you get more money, this is the way to go.

Cons: No cons!

Other Thoughts: After purchasing this card, i upgraded to the GTX 550Ti 2GB from EVGA. If you're going for strictly gaming, and have a couple of more bucks, go for something a bit more powerful. If you don't have too much money at the moment, but in the near future you will, this will do you good till then.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat for Everyday Use

Pros: Got one of these back in March for a customer who just needed an everyday computer build. Does the job quite nicely.

Cons: None to speak of, considering that it is what it is.

Other Thoughts: Used in a machine for someone who just needs to surf and check e-mail. This was more than good enough. Installed on a Core 2 Quad Q6600 and XFX 680i LT motherboard.

2 out of 5 eggsGood enough for a while

Pros: Cheap and fast enough for basic gaming. Ran it in my HTPC for over a year with no issues (besides low FPS in modern games).

Cons: Fan gave out after ~1y4m, at which point the GPU overheated and died.

Other Thoughts: I really would've liked to have seen this last a bit longer than it did. For the card to fail because of a cheap fan is a bit ridiculous.

5 out of 5 eggsStrong little GPU

Pros: This little graphics card is way better than I thought it was going to be. I am able to run Skyrim on High with only a small amount of lag. Great choice if you are looking to build a computer but have a limited budget.

Cons: None that I can think of.

4 out of 5 eggsGood for price level, compat. issues

Pros: Cool and quiet. If you keep your expectations reasonable, then this card can actually perform very adequately for games (especially older or less demanding ones). There was a large jump in performance from my ATI 4200 IGP. Whereas the IGP could play my games with carefully adjusted settings, this can actually do it at my monitor's native resolution and even has power to spare for anti-aliasing sometimes. And of course, being a discrete graphics card there is very little judder compared to an IGP.

Video playback is silky smooth. I also tested out dual monitor support, and it works well (as to be expected).

Cons: I had compatibility issues with this card in an old PCIe 1.0 motherboard. I'm not sure if it is the mainboard or the video card, but the machine simply will not boot. If you are purchasing this card to keep an old machine alive, then it might be wise to look elsewhere.

I'm not sure why, but the NVidia control panel reports the effective memory clock of my card at 1070Mhz. This is way, way under the advertised effective memory clock! This is an especially important point, as different GT 520 cards have different memory speeds. It is best to buy the card with the fastest memory.

My card also looks different from the one pictured here. Mine is a black PCB with a different heatsink and fan, but matches the model number for this card.

Other Thoughts: Kids these days want to play their modern games with a card like this, and complain because they can't turn up the quality. Listen -- This card might not run your newest Battlefield game at high settings, and is probably a poor choice for Amnesia, but if your library only contains games like the following, then expect very reasonable performance at practically any resolution:

720P
WoW - ~30FPS minimum, Good Shadows, Low Water, 4xAA (AA on a budget card, for crying out loud!), Good view distance -> Very playable.
Torchlight - 60FPS all the time, quality max

1080p
WoW - ~20FPS minimum, 0xAA, Good Shadows, Low Water, Good view distance -> Very playable, with some moderate slowdown during 25-man raiding and heavily populated cities
Torchlight - 60FPS all the time, AA off

5 out of 5 eggsExceeded My Expectations

Pros: -Easy To Install
-Fan On Graphics Card
-Nicely Packaged
-Great Performance

Cons: Honestly, None!

It runs a little warm, but it does have a fan so it shouldn't be a big deal.

Other Thoughts: I purchased this graphics card as a replacement from trying to play games on my computer with an integrated graphics chip. I am a light gamer, I play World of Warcraft and I am simply amazed at how well this graphics card can perform. I have been trying to ask other people for advice on buying a graphics card and they told me I wouldn't get anywhere with only a $50 budget. It looks like they were wrong, this card is able to completely max out the graphics on World of Warcraft. Before I could only play on the lowest setting with only 8 FPS. Yes this is not a gaming card, but if you are a light gamer and are looking for a performance upgrade buy this card. I have never purchased a graphics card before so I was very skeptical at what $50 would get me. I thought it would only be able to run the game at medium graphics, but it has completely exceeded my expectations. For the price, it was well worth it!

5 out of 5 eggsBest Upgrade for Old Systems

Pros: My 5 year old HP Pavilion needed a GPU upgrade. I'm not a hardcore gamer but Diablo III is coming out and my old GPU wouldn't cut it. Installation was quick and easy, Device Manager installed the card without having to use the included software. I got the latest driver from Nvidia's website within minutes and the difference was immediate. My performance score for my system went from a 4.4 to a 5.9 for the Graphics test and a 4.4 to a 5.5 for the Gaming Graphics test. Not bad for $50. The board recommends a 300 watt power supply minimum but I installed a new 400 watt supply just to make sure because my old 250 watt supply wasn't going to cut it.

Cons: None at all.

Other Thoughts: If you have an integrated video/audio card you'll have to change your BIOS settings in order to get your sound to work. I ran into this problem and it took about 10 minutes of internet searching to find the fix for the problem. Just hit F10 when your computer is first firing up. Change your onboard audio setting from Auto to Enable and the sound should work just fine. Make sure you save your settings before exiting. This may not be the steps you take for every system but for a Vista 32 Bit system it did the trick.

5 out of 5 eggsVery Good for the Price

Pros: 1080p YouTube videos play perfectly, full framerate with moderate settings on Portal 2 (everything set to "medium" or "high", antialising and v-sync on) and Minecraft (graphics on "fast", render distance normal, OpenGL on, custom texturepack) on a 6 year old computer with a Pentium D and 4gb of RAM.

Bought the computer used for $70, and with less than $80 worth of upgrades (this video card is one of them) it's been a very good casual gaming computer, perfect for the 12 year old.

Cons: Render distance set to "Far" in Minecraft is a little slow, but it's most likely the processor that's bottlenecking it.
