5 out of 5 eggsNice Low Budget GPU

Pros: Small and doesn't require any power connectors, great for throwing into a computer that relies on integrated graphics.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I'm using it for visitors who want to play games. I didn't expect much from this card, but after some overclocking, it manages to play games like payday 2 with great performance and reasonable graphics settings. Needless to say, I'm happy with the purchase.

It also had a rebate, which PNY processed very quickly (within one month).

1 out of 5 eggsStrong while it lasted

Pros: The card was pretty good and strong and it was great for gaming for me.

Cons: Lasted only one year before the fan stopped working,

Other Thoughts: Never buying from pny again!!! Buy this card if you want something that lasts a year!!

5 out of 5 eggsGood Card for the Price

Pros: Have 3 different input ports to work with most dual monitor set ups easily
Easy to install
Software loads fast
Software is easy to use

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Not sure why everyone complains about it not having a low profile bracket as this is NOT a low profile card. It is meant for a standard width case. If you have a slimmer case, you will want to look elsewhere OR you can buy a bracket that will enable the VGA port to sit below the others in order for it to fit.

This is a good card, cost effective. This will handle gaming well and most work environments. Currently I use it to play WoW on Ultra settings and when I work I use it for Photoshop, Office and other web design software simultaneously. It handles everything with ease.

1 out of 5 eggsTerrible

Pros: Looked great when it worked

Cons: HDMI port failed after 6 weeks, as soon as I plugged my old ION gt210 card I had HDMI again.

Other Thoughts: Ridiculous that something like that should fail after 6 weeks

5 out of 5 eggsValue, and Performance

Pros: Its inexpensive, easy to install, very power efficent, quiet. Handles 1080p no problem. HDMI works with out a hitch. Running in a quad core amd setup with 4 gb of 1333 ram. Can handle most modern games at a reasonable fps with settings med to high, Some even maxed out. It did what I wanted it to do and then some.

Cons: 1 gb of ram just isnt enough for some games. It lags with some of the more intense physx games. Most have a setting to turn down or turn off phyx, so its not a huge deal.

Other Thoughts: I'd buy another if the build fit it. Runs very cool.

5 out of 5 eggsNewest update.

Pros: Can run multiple clients of some games at once without a hiccup. I suggest a well-ventilated case, though.

Cons: Somewhat on the warm side, granted the cooler is small. This IS a half-height card.

Also, UPS sucks.

Other Thoughts: Not sure how to actually update a review, so this third review is actually for the replacement card I received. As said in the 2nd review, I think the 1st card was just a dud and I got too happy too quickly over it. But this one seems pretty stable. Replaced a Galaxy GT630; same RAM, but double the amount, and the extra stream processors do seem to make a great difference. As said in the pros on this review, I strongly suggest a well-ventilated case. I am using an old Cooler Master Elite 341 case with a modular PSU; I believe the extra thoughput of air helps it. I don't suggest it for prebuilds as their cases generally suck on ventilation. Overall though, very happy with the purchase.

On a side note, I think this will be my last (albeit first) purchase with Newegg. Their RMA service was spot-on (improvement can be in paying for return shipping), but UPS just plain sucks. They aren't the only retailer I've used UPS for delivery, and 100% of the time, the UPS drivers have been too lazy to actually come to my doorstep, which is only up 1 flight of stairs. This time, they even delivered my package (this card) to the business downstairs though it is clearly listed in the mail system as a separate unit. If Newegg deletes this part of the review because it is about the delivery carriers they use, I will definitely not purchase again. Please, Newegg, even USPS is better than UPS.

2 out of 5 eggsupdate for 12/18/13

Pros: Was good as long as it lasted. No problems getting a return RMA issued.

Cons: After about the first few hours, it started having that fuzzy look to the graphics and kept crashing in games when at the lowest setting. Granted this isn't a gaming card and I keep the settings pretty low because I don't need that much to be happy with my experience, but I think the card I got was just a dud. 2 stars because of the RMA approval and the fact the card showed it had some level of promise. Will adjust again if/when I get the new card.

Other Thoughts: I didn't like the fact I had to pay for return shipping. I think I'm gonna see if this next card is ok, if not then I won't even bother with it. I got this card for the price; the price for shipping hikes it closer to the next level of card. If ya have to buy that much, might as well buy locally and full price.

5 out of 5 eggsDecent so far.

Pros: Packaging was intact, the solder points that were visible weren't sloppy, if you take a flashlight you can see the capacitors underneath the hood of the cooler and they were vertical. The rear bracket was vented on mine, which was a nice plus. The heatsink's fins run horizontally in the direction of the card's length, which really helps with directing the airflow. The fan is less noisy than my case fans, which need to be replaced soon anyway. But disconnecting the case fans, the GPU fan is very quiet. Also, half height, albeit dual slot. No requirement for a PCI-e power cord from the PSU.

Cons: Not sure if it's necessarily a con, but I was pushing ice cold air out the exhaust, and now that air is somewhat warmer. It is noticable, though not serious in my case. I wouldn't use it in a SFF case that doesn't have it directly against a vent in the side.

Other Thoughts: I understand that no other websites are to be listed, but hopefully Newegg lets this review get posted with the following intact, as I was originally looking elsewhere for this card and being from PNY's tech support themselves, it is useful info on the product:

We apologize for the confusion, it seems ****** has the incorrect information regarding this card. while the GT 640 is Physically half-height card, it produces more heat and consumes more power than a low profile card would generate/take and does not have low profile brackets to make it insert into a low profile system(removing brackets would void the warranty). Because of these circumstances it is not classified by PNY as a low profile card and is not recommended to be inserted into a low profile system.

We recommend if you are interested in a low profile card to use a GT 610/620/630LP

Two things ring a bell with this. First, it IS a medium ranged card; it is going to produce heat, and thankfully they do not advertise it as otherwise. Second, the issue with the low profile bracket. It makes me wonder why they even offer a low profile bracket if they admit that swapping the bracket out voids the warrantee. My particular use for it is in a standard width mATX case, but that is good info for those planning to put this into a slim case.

My system:
Athlon II x3
MSI 890GXM-G65 motherboard
8GB Crucial Ballistix Sport 1600mhz, running at 1333mhz
(2x) OCZ Vertex 4 120GB
CoolerMaster Elite 341 case
Corsair CX430M PSU

5 out of 5 eggsWorks with low profile

Pros: Just wanted to confirm for people who are wondering that this will fit in a low profile case. You will need your own LP bracket. I ordered it, not sure if it would fit or not.

Cons: None

3 out of 5 eggsLow Profile Card w/o Low Profile Bracket

Pros: Low-profile card.

Cons: Does not appear to come with a low profile bracket - you just lost a sale.

Other Thoughts: Why on earth would PNY make a LP video card without a LP bracket? Are you assuming that the customer already has one, or am I missing something? The present (27 June 2012) information on Newegg does not show that a LP (backplate) bracket is included.
