Same as the powerful GeForce GTX 680, the GeForce GTX 640 is based on the revolutionary Kepler architecture for premium multimedia performance and reliable gaming. With innovative thermal design, the ECS GeForce GTX 680 graphics card delivers stable performance.

  • newegg Kepler GPU Architecture NVIDIA's Kepler GPU architecture has been designed from the ground up not just for maximum performance, but optimal performance per watt. The new SMX streaming multiprocessor is twice as efficient as the prior generation and the new geometry engine draws triangles twice as fast. The result is world class performance and the highest image quality in an elegant and power efficient graphics card.
  • newegg NVIDIA Adaptive Vertical Sync Nothing is more distracting than framerate stuttering and screen tearing. The first tends to occur when framerates are low, the second when framerates are high. Adaptive V-Sync is a smarter way to render frames. At high framerates, V-sync is enabled to eliminate tearing, at low frame rates, it's disabled to minimize stuttering. It gets rid of distractions so you can get on with gaming.
  • newegg New Anti-aliasing Mode: FXAA Anti-aliasing smoothes out jagged edges but can be demanding on framerates. FXAA is a new antialiasing technology that produces beautiful smooth lines with minimal performance impact. And with Kepler based GPUs, you'll be able to enable FXAA in hundreds of game titles through the NVIDIA Control Panel.
  • newegg NVIDIA 3D Vision Surround Ready Expand your games across three displays in full stereoscopic 3D for the ultimate “inside the game” experience with the power of NVIDIA 3D Vision and SLI technologies. NVIDIA Surround also supports triple screen gaming with non-stereo displays.
  • newegg NVIDIA CUDA Technology CUDA technology unlocks the power of the GPU’s processing cores to accelerate the most demanding system tasks – such as video encoding – delivering up to 7x performance over traditional CPUs.
  • newegg Microsoft DirectX 11 Support DirectX 11 GPU with Shader Model 5.0 support designed for ultra high performance in the new API’s key graphics feature, GPU-accelerated tessellation.

5 out of 5 eggsquiet, stays cool

Pros: its really quiet, and uses only one slot. its low wattage and powerful enough for the occasional gamer.

Cons: gddr3, dont expect the newest games to run at the highest settings with this thing, you get what you pay for.

Other Thoughts: the board itself if flimsy, so be careful installing it. its also full height so it cant be used in low profile cases.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat card for the price

Pros: Not the most fast (GDDR3 as opposed to GDDR5) nor the most withering of cards, but at $85 it works like a champ. Replaced a 9500GT and it's nice to finally get 1080p at 1920x1080 out of this mongoloid monitor (32") and be able to live with it.

Cons: Non, so far..

Other Thoughts: Not real concerned with overclocking for the first year or two. Fan runs real quiet and it keeps quite cool in my case set-up. When I go I5 / I7 next year, we'll see where things are at.

5 out of 5 eggsCould not be more impressed!

Pros: - High FPS in current games
- Dual DVI
- HDMI Connectivity

Cons: - No SLI Support

Other Thoughts: I could not be more satisfied with the card for the price that I paid. Been using it in my custom system for about a week now, and so far every game that I throw at it performs well! Running Skyrim on Ultra High graphics and all textures tuned to high quality at 1920x1080! Have not tried with any brand new games such as Crysis 3, but feel pretty confident that it would run on medium to high settings. The one issue with this card is that it does not support SLI, but for me that is not an issue as my motherboard only has one PCI-E 3.0 x16 slot. All and all great card for the money highly recommend!

5 out of 5 eggsDecent Card / Not for gaming

Pros: This card is great for adding another couple of monitors to your system or for playing games at a resolution lesser than 1920x1080. It will certainly run games at high resolution (I tried Modern Warfare 3 and Far Cry), but there is a slight choppiness not found in higher end cards.

I gave 5 eggs because it does exactly what I bought it for (adding two more displays). I haven't attempted to overclock the unit, but that may help somewhat with gaming.

Fan is pretty quiet.

Cons: None at the moment.

Other Thoughts: Intel 3770k
8GB RAM
Viewsonic LED 1ms 27"
