5 out of 5 eggsAopen 6600

Pros: HD output
Hugh amount of RAM
Quiet, not that I would be able to notice, since I have 5 other fans.
Price point, plus had rebate.
NVidia drivers good

Cons: No Dual DVI out, would have been nice, but no really seen in 6600's.

Other Thoughts: Heat sink has never been to hot to touch. Nascar Sim Racing periodically locks up, usually not a problem. Plays Sims 2 w/o a glitch and everything else. Probably just poor coding on NSR. NSR looked decent on my 34XBR960 at 720p, should have tried 1080i, probably would have killed.

5 out of 5 eggsGood Silent Card

Comments: I purchased this card about a month ago. So far, I am very happy with it. Perhaps the best feature of this card is that it runs silently. My PC is in my bedroom and runs 24x7. Other video card fans are too noisy.

The heatsink does get hot. I have been playing CoD 2 on it and the card gets hot. I have a small form factor case that doesn't help. I placed a 20db 80mm fan at the front of the case to blow air on this card. That has helped tremendously.

The performance of this card is good. I expected what I got. It is NOT top of the line, but it does play the newer games very well (played HL2 Lost Coast with HDR turned on at 1280x1024 and it was beautiful and smooth).

If you are looking for a silent card with some muscle, this is the one. If you are willing to listent to the noise, get the 6600GT or the 6800.

3 out of 5 eggs

Comments: Only reason I picked this card was because it did not have a fan on the heatsink. Just RMAed the second one. First one had one of the heatsink hold downs missing. The second one just plain croaked. Maybe third time will be a charm. My ex is not so happy with this, as its her PC.

Comments: Great card and great drivers. I am running this card out to my tv via the DVI and it pumping 1080i resolutions. No need for any fancy software to get her there.

5 out of 5 eggsGood Card

Comments: The best part about this card is that it does not have any fans on it to add to the noise and it works very well. The only bad part about is, the component video out that it comes with is terrible. Picture does not even look like component video or HD. I am just using the DVI output for my projector now and that seems to be working way better that its "HDTV" output.

5 out of 5 eggsit's definitely quiet

Comments: it's not always you come across a vid card with ample power wearing only a passive cooler. reading the reviews of some people, i realised that to maintain the vid card, you need some other means of cooling it and since i like the look and don't really want to dismantle the sink at an early age, i mounted a low speed 80mm fan perpendicular to the end of the card. this was easy due to the roll bar that came with my 4U rack. so far, tested for light duty graphics then some gaming: WoW, UT2004, LoTR Battle of Middle Earth.....

5 out of 5 eggsSilent but Violent

Comments: When I was searching through video cards to purchase, this seemed to be right in the sweet spot for pricing and ability. In the benchmarking tests I saw this just just below the X700 on almost everything. Pricing about $50-$60 cheaper than the afformentioned card. I recommend this as a good deal.

I would also like to mention that my card is SLI mulit-gpu ready. Comparing my box to newegg's picture where it says mine is SLI compatible there is nothing on newegg's. I don't know if this varies but I would guess they are all SLI compatible.

I have included a link that says this card is SLI ready but does not use the sli-connector. I don't know if this helps or confuses some but I like the card for the price.

2 out of 5 eggsGood but short-lived

Comments: This thing ran The Sims 2, Unreal Tournament 2004, Rome: Total War, Tribes: Vengeance, and many other games at the highest settings with better-than-TV-quality framerate.

BUT, after only five days, it died it its sleep. I turned the computer off one night and everything was fine. The next morning I tried turning on my computer and I got no video. I tried reseating the card with no luck. I replaced it with a PNY model with the same chipset, and my computer is running smoothly again.
