Very fast card for a great price
This review is from: Apollo 8600GT 512MB GeForce 8600 GT 512MB 128-Bit GDDR2 PCI Express x16 HDCP Ready Video Card
Pros: This card exceeded my expectations for performance and frame rate. As of writing this (03/26/2008) I am able to play every game except for Crysis at max settings and a resolution of 1440x900. The rest of my systems specs are a 2.2ghz core 2 duo, and 2gb DDR2 ram. Hardly top of the line by todays standards but still performs amazingly well.
Cons: The biggest downside of this card is that it doesn't have the staying power that the 8800 and 9600 GT cards have. You'll be replacing this graphics card in early 2009 for sure. Also this graphics card is most likely going to choke and die on any games in the future that really take advantage of Direct X 10. So while you are buying a DX10 card, it doesn't mean you are going to be able to use it. A lot like how the Geforce 6 series introduced pixel shading 3.0 but wasn't able to actually use it in any games that had it.
Other Thoughts: If you are on a very tight budget, and you don't do a whole lot of PC gaming, then bar none, this is the very best graphics card to get. However make sure you get the DDR3 version, it is a little bit more expensive, but a lot faster.
