1 out of 5 eggsDon't buy this card!

Pros: Low price, good paperweight.

Cons: NOT for gaming. Overheats, doesn't display complex 3D models (such as those in 3DS MAX).

Other Thoughts: DO NOT buy this card! Go to a respectable Vid Card manufactuer like EVGA. BIOSTAR should stick to mobos.

3 out of 5 eggsNot worth it

Pros: It does display video

Cons: Cruddy design. Small fan, cruddy heatsink. LOW LOW FPS in just about every game i play besides Simcity 4 lol.

Other Thoughts: If your looking to Paly COD 4, or even WOWC, dont get this card, spend a few extra bucks and get a better design

4 out of 5 eggsNot Bad........

Pros: I bought this card before the rebate. It would be a very good buy if you get it now! It plays UT3, HL2 Epi.2, & COD4 all perfectly. Maxing UT3 & HL2. No lag or studder. I think I got what I paid for, but with a twenty dollar rebate I would say this was a great deal.

Cons: Crysis lags, Hellgate London must be put way down, and Aero seems a little slow sometimes. I have to turn CSS down. I bought this card before any reviews were out. If I had read then what I read now I think i would have made another choice for the price.

Other Thoughts: Like I said, for what I paid, I would get a different card, but with a twenty dollar rebate I think this is a great deal.I gave it a 4 because I think it does a good job.

1 out of 5 eggsStop leaving good reviews about this junk!

Pros: NONE!

Cons: DDR2, Overpriced, SLI, does NOT work with SLI bridge.

Other Thoughts: People who don't own this card, or haven't had a DDR3 version of this card shouldn't be allowed to leave a review. This card is pure junk, and almost every other 256MB 8600gt card is DDR3 and scores more than double in 3dmark. This card also does NOT work in sli with a Bridge, you get tearing on screen, remove the sli bridge and it works but with decreased performace, and yes I've tried several bridges.

2 out of 5 eggsNot GDDR3

Pros: HD DVD

Cons: Slow gddr2 Memory

Other Thoughts: When conpared to other 8600Gt cards at the same price this card just can't compete , for me its all about what you get for your money . I own this card , not like some reviewers.

4 out of 5 eggsThis is NOT a gaming card

Pros: Plays HD DVD formats well.

Cons: You must buy a product capable of unlocking the VP2 technology to take advantage of the HD processing power.

Other Thoughts: Let's get this straight, this is no gaming card. I can't believe I'm reading benchmarks here as if this card were competing for gamer system's dollars.
This card is for High Definition. PERIOD. If you're looking for a gaming card with this kind of performance, you're wasting your money here. Go on the Bay and pick up an older card with this kind of performance for $50.
On the other hand, if you're trying to get your HTPC or other PC HT project going and working through all the HDCP issues. This card is the entry level for a quality card that will offload the burden from your processor and take the playback to an acceptable level. IE; It will be smooth and look good.
The caveat is you're going to have to buy a program that takes advantage of this power.
Right now, PowerDVD Ultra is the last word and the best price is here at the Egg.
Nero has a $25 plug-in if you're using v7. I've had mixed results with it. It uses up more resources though.
Next card up is about twice the p

5 out of 5 eggsWow

Pros: It's a graphics card. It's DX10 compatible. At this price range, you get what you pay for. It'll run Vista/Aero for those looking to upgrade your operating system. It has much improved video playback over the previous generation nVidia cards.

Cons: Slow memory with low memory bus. Limited to lower resolutions and/or choosing not to use anti-aliasing. It has good AF and you can push that a bit. It really was a bad move to use such terrible memory. Literally a few dollars more on better memory for this would have made a big difference.

Other Thoughts: I'm going to be honest and tell you I don't own this card, however, I can read. I just wanted to balance out the terrible reviews for it from those who bought this card and didn't read the specs or find out anything about it, and then complain about your purchase as if it's the manufacturers fault. I can understand if it burned out or the fan died, etc., but this is not a high end gaming card, don't expect it to be.

1 out of 5 eggsSlow

Pros: Support for HD DVD playback , derectX 10 , It has some features that may come in handy in the future .

Cons: 512MB of slow GDDR2 , Memory Interface of 128-bits , can't play halo 2 PC at the highest settings .

Other Thoughts: I bought this before it had any reviews , Next time I will wait .The XFX PVT84JUDD3 GeForce 8600GT would had been a better buy

1 out of 5 eggs8500gt in disguise

Pros: what pros?

Cons: This is an 8500gt with 512mb video!

Other Thoughts: Just stay away, if you want an 8500gt go buy one for alot less!
This thing seriously benchmarks about as good as an 8500gt, and less than half of other 8600gt's
