1 out of 5 eggsLasted a week

Pros: None

Cons: Fan never worked. Installed into an older pc and I regret not recoginizing the shut downs were being caused from the video card overheating.

5 out of 5 eggsDriving my LCD Panel as 3rd monitor

Pros: Got this card about 30 minutes ago via UPS. Installed it in my secondary PCI 2x16 slot. Powered on, let Winoze (XP64) go online and get the driver, rebooted, went to display settings, highlighted the new monitor and ticked the box 'Extend my display...'. Came on like is working great at 1920x1080. My LCD is a Samsung LN46A630.

Cons: Could have included a SPDIF header wire.

Other Thoughts: There's a 2 pin SPDIF-IN header near the top-left of the fan (you can see it in the pics). I'm hoping (and guessing) if I scrounge up a cable I can get digital audio to pass thru to the LCD. My suggestion is to get this wire if that's your intention. Also, this is connected via HDMI by a Link Depot 25' cable (newegg).

4 out of 5 eggsFine card, beware of rebates

Pros: Decent low-profile GeForce 9400 card. Good price (after rebate).

Cons: Crushingly complex rebate form. Noisy little fan. Does not include low-profile bracket.

Other Thoughts: I needed a low-profile 9400 card to use VDPAU under MythTV. This card works fine, and maintains a temperature under 70C under load. If the PC weren't inside a cabinet, I would complain about the noisy fan. (Perhaps it would still run cool enough with the fan unplugged.) The price after rebate was good, but I spent about 30 minutes working on the rebate form, copying down a multitude of 20+ character codes into web forms and onto the back of the envelope, so there's a good chance the rebate will be rejected on some technicality. Also, it ends up effectively costing a few dollars more if you need to provide your own low-profile bracket.
