Excellent card
- Pros: This card is ideal for a system that might not have a PCI Express card. I own an old Pavilion that I bought for my first PC a few years back, and after going through a couple of cards I can say without a doubt that this is the best one I have ever used. This card can run any Source engine game at mid to high specifications and can run most newer games at lower specs.
- Cons: Though this card is awesome, Windows 7 seems to have big issues with it. I saw a drop in performance from 30 FPS to around 2 FPS in Team Fortress 2 after upgrading. If you're planning on using 7, pass.
Great Video Card
- Pros: I bought this card for an older AGP mother board operating on Windows 7 Ultimate. I had to return a previous Radeon video card because the manufacturer's
drivers would not load into the machine properly. This card installed easily and quickly with great results. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this card for other AGP applications.
- Cons: None so far
- Other Thoughts: Very good value.
Works Nicely So Far
- Pros: My 5 year-old computer is being upgraded to Windows 7, so I bought this to replace a 256MB GeForce video card (which I needed just to run a larger HD LCD monitor on higher resolutions). The card covered in this review was needed because Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor told me the Aero feature required a better card, so I bought this one (SEE Other Thoughts). It's working well so far and visually, I don't see/feel much difference because I don't play games and the like. I just want to have a better card if I'm upgrading other facets of my PC (I like Gateway's silver/black tower and therefore, I must extend this PC's life, lol).
- Cons: With both of the GeForce cards I've upgrade with thus far, my Windows XP desktop freezes every so often and completely locks up. Never happened until I upgraded the video card(s). Doesn't bother me much, but just putting it out there. I tried a few drivers, but to no avail.
- Other Thoughts: Windows 7 Upgrade advisor said I needed a better video card to run Aero, but after the install of this one, it STILL tells me I need a better one. Other reviews state this card DOES allow the Aero function to work, so we'll see soon.
