It's no secret that you need killer graphics support in order to really master today's complex games. Knowing where to jump into the graphics card maelstrom is the issue. A world of claims and counterclaims confuses the customer until you don't know what you're doing. Maybe we can help. BFG offers a great lineup of cards built on Nvidia processors and boards, and the 8800GT is a great blend of value and video mastery!
GeForce 8800 GT is based on Nvidia's G92 GPU, a 754 mega-transistor monster. 112 1D scalar stream processors run at a blistering 1,566MHz. Seven clusters of 16 shaders, share eight texture address units, eight texture filtering units and have their own independent L1 cache. Thinner than the 8800GTX or GTS, it suffices with a single-slot cooler, and pushes most of the heat toward the rear of the card and hopefully out of your case. It's a power miser, too, and even a pair of 8800GT cards uses less power than a single GTS.
Mainstream gamers can now take full advantage of DirectX 10 for a price that won't sent you in to shock . . . except maybe BioShock!

- Pros: Quiet, single slot cooling, overclocks well, plenty of power to run all my games at 1650x050 res with 4x AA/8xAF, DX10, although the current DX10 offering is kind of weak - we'll see what native DX10 games have to offer, if anything. Word is, DX10 is supposed to offer the same performance of DX9 while increasing 3D visual quality - and we all love and trust Microsoft and everything they say.
- Cons: Price inflation over MSRP, nVidia's naming scheme is a mess - I have a friend who still thinks his 8800GTS 640 is better because it's a "GTS"
- Other Thoughts: Fan at 100% is LOUD! That's expected though - you probably will not need to use it at 100% ever if you have a solid airflow and decent cooling. I never need it above 70% under load - 45c idle, 61c load under Oblivion. At that % I can't hear the fan over the others.
First time installers may experience the sound of a jet taking off as the fan spools at max RPM :P Once I installed the drivers, this does not happen anymore. I kind of liked it for brag purposes: "Yup Jimmy, sounds like a jet taking off, is your PC this bada**?" hehe
wow...
- Pros: amazed performence for a modest price. This is my second BFG card, I replaced a bfg 7950 gt oc 512mb card(also a very good card). Crysis still runs like Crysis runs but, all other new games run at maximum settings. Install disk had latest drivers(same driver a 7950).
- Cons: it's long, make sure you have about twelve inches of space for card clearance.
- Other Thoughts: I ordered this card and twelve o'clock on monday and I had it by twelve on tuesday(3 day ground ups). The order was processed and sent from Calf. to La. in less than 24 hours.
I didn't think that that was possible...great job newegg.

Good performance, but too hot
- Pros: I have two of these in an SLI configuration and great FPS at 1680 x 1050.
- Cons: They run way too hot with stock cooling. High 60's idle, high 70's full load. Flashed them with the new BIOS, followed instructions to the t, and they run even hotter! High 70's idle, mid 80's full load.
- Other Thoughts: 8800 GT's are good cards, but avoid this one.
mad
- Pros: the card worked perfectly, its a thin quiet card
- Cons: It started giving me a purple screen and crashing my computer after 2 months of use. It works as long as i don't play games or do anything graphically intensive.
- Other Thoughts: I sent in the rebate which required me to send in the original bar code from the box which i had to cut out. I threw the box away after that. Newegg will not replace it because I don't have the box it came in. Next I'll contact the manufacture...
Thanks for the defective product and the "warranty"
Awesome for the price
- Pros: This is absolutely a fantastic card for the price. I use to own an 8800GTS and this thing has some better benchmarks than my old card. I managed to get this one for free as a gift from my boss, so this was even better! Absolutely love it, it's powerful, fast, and small enough to fit in my Shuttle case!!!
- Cons: SLI is nice, but if you have room for a bigger card, i'd upgrade to a much faster card than run this one in SLI. it's just better for your system since only a few games are really optimized for more than one card. I say that now that the 9-series cards and the GTX series are out, upgrade to a single faster card if possible (9800 GTX+ or something)
- Other Thoughts: There's a thin plastic sheet covering most of the graphics' cards image (on the side of the heat sink covering) if you dont remove this plastic it can warm up and fall off of the heatsink and either into another component in your computer or INTO THE CARD'S FAN ITSELF. I've seen several friends not remove this and have it kill their 9800 GT's. Please understand that this is not an issue with JUST THIS BOARD but all boards...
