It's no secret that you need killer graphics support in order to really master today's complex games. Knowing where to jump into the graphics card maelstrom is the issue. A world of claims and counterclaims confuses the customer until you don't know what you're doing. Maybe we can help. BFG offers a great lineup of cards built on Nvidia processors and boards, and the 8800GT is a great blend of value and video mastery!

GeForce 8800 GT is based on Nvidia's G92 GPU, a 754 mega-transistor monster. 112 1D scalar stream processors run at a blistering 1,566MHz. Seven clusters of 16 shaders, share eight texture address units, eight texture filtering units and have their own independent L1 cache. Thinner than the 8800GTX or GTS, it suffices with a single-slot cooler, and pushes most of the heat toward the rear of the card and hopefully out of your case. It's a power miser, too, and even a pair of 8800GT cards uses less power than a single GTS.

Mainstream gamers can now take full advantage of DirectX 10 for a price that won't sent you in to shock . . . except maybe BioShock!

  • newegg NVIDIA Unified Architecture with GigaThread Technology The fully-unified shader core dynamically allocates processing power to geometry, vertex, physics and pixel shading operations, delivering incredibly true-to-life 3D graphics. In addition, the massively multi-threaded architecture supports thousands of independent, simultaneous threads, providing extreme processing efficiency in advanced, next generation shader programs.
  • newegg Full Microsoft DirectX 10 Support The DirectX 10 GPU with full Shader Model 4.0 support delivers unparalleled levels of graphics realism and film-quality effects.
  • newegg PCI Express 2.0 Interface The PCI Express 2.0 interface doubles the bandwidth of PCI Express x16 for an ultra-high data rate of up to 16 GB/s in both data transfer directions. The PCI Express 2.0 provides backward compatibility with PCI Express x16 (PCI-E 1.0), so you can upgrade the graphics of your existing system with the EVGA 512-P3-N805-A1.
  • newegg NVIDIA SLI Technology Delivers up to 2X the performance of a single GPU configuration for unmatchable gaming experiences. The must-have feature for PCI Express graphics, NVIDIA SLI technology allows two graphics cards to run in parallel and dramatically scales performance on today's hottest games.
  • newegg NVIDIA PureVideo HD Technology The combination of high-definition video decoding acceleration and post-processing delivers unprecedented picture clarity, smooth video, accurate color and precise image scaling for all video content, especially movies.
  • newegg Built for Microsoft Windows Vista Built for Windows Vista, NVIDIA's fourth-generation GPU architecture offers users the best possible experience using the Windows Aero 3D graphical user interface available in Microsoft latest operating system.

5 out of 5 eggsOH MY GAWSH $44? A STEAL!

Pros: 8800GT is the go-to card for 90% of gamers, I have 2 in SLI in my rig and I love them. Of course I got them a year ago when they were $109. Runs everything I have (TF2, Fallout 3, COD4:MW, DOW2, etc) with everything maxed at 1920x1200, gives me 75+ fps.

Cons: Why was it not $44 a year ago? Darn you, constant technology price drops (and yet, I love you)!

Other Thoughts: $44 for what is essentially a 9800GT without DX10 support, and since DX10 isn't a breaker for me (oooh, better shadows, woopie), this is a STEAL. Anything else and you're paying more than twice as much just to see DX10, and if you don't have Vista/Win7, you won't get DX10 anyways.

Or rather, DX11 by now, huh...

5 out of 5 eggsBest bang for the buck

Pros: These are cards are still stellar performers even after all of these years. I would recommend these to anyone, especially at the price they are being offered at. I bought three of these for 69.99 each and dont have buyers remorse whatsoever. Not my first 8800GT but definitely the best. BFG rocks! Have 2 in SLI and got another one for whatever

Cons: One of them had a fan that didnt work when I opened it up and ended up overheating the card. I called up BFG and they gave me no problems and gave me an RMA #. The tech was really nice and professional and BFG has gained a lifetime customer from me. Im not going to take any eggs off for this because it can happen and the two cads I have now in SLI are amazing performance for the price. BFG is one of the best manufacturers out there and they back up their products without a doubt. Go BFG!

Other Thoughts: I highly recommend getting two of these cards for SLI and you will not be dissapointed. Sure a single, better card is the best choice, but at this price it's going to be hard to find similar performance.

3 out of 5 eggsGood performance, but too hot

Pros: I have two of these in an SLI configuration and great FPS at 1680 x 1050.

Cons: They run way too hot with stock cooling. High 60's idle, high 70's full load. Flashed them with the new BIOS, followed instructions to the t, and they run even hotter! High 70's idle, mid 80's full load.

Other Thoughts: 8800 GT's are good cards, but avoid this one.

3 out of 5 eggsmad

Pros: the card worked perfectly, its a thin quiet card

Cons: It started giving me a purple screen and crashing my computer after 2 months of use. It works as long as i don't play games or do anything graphically intensive.

Other Thoughts: I sent in the rebate which required me to send in the original bar code from the box which i had to cut out. I threw the box away after that. Newegg will not replace it because I don't have the box it came in. Next I'll contact the manufacture...
Thanks for the defective product and the "warranty"

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome for the price

Pros: This is absolutely a fantastic card for the price. I use to own an 8800GTS and this thing has some better benchmarks than my old card. I managed to get this one for free as a gift from my boss, so this was even better! Absolutely love it, it's powerful, fast, and small enough to fit in my Shuttle case!!!

Cons: SLI is nice, but if you have room for a bigger card, i'd upgrade to a much faster card than run this one in SLI. it's just better for your system since only a few games are really optimized for more than one card. I say that now that the 9-series cards and the GTX series are out, upgrade to a single faster card if possible (9800 GTX+ or something)

Other Thoughts: There's a thin plastic sheet covering most of the graphics' cards image (on the side of the heat sink covering) if you dont remove this plastic it can warm up and fall off of the heatsink and either into another component in your computer or INTO THE CARD'S FAN ITSELF. I've seen several friends not remove this and have it kill their 9800 GT's. Please understand that this is not an issue with JUST THIS BOARD but all boards...

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Card!!!

Pros: This card will play any dx9 you throw at it(haven't tried dx10 so no comment on that) with out issues imo if you don't use any res above 1440*900 like me this card will suit you well.

Cons: I had this card since june with the fan cranked up to 100% and like 4-7 days ago the temps would rise to 107 celsius after 30 min of game play and contacted BFG and they will RMA my card so I just need to wait till the week day to send it back cause its the week end.

Other Thoughts: This is the best card I have had because I don't have any trouble with any game or movie I play and would recommend it to any one. The only issue is the fan that comes with it. Some folks are luck to get a trouble free card some arnt that's life.just beware of the stock fan!!!

4 out of 5 eggsThe Good & the Bad

Pros: I bought this card to replace a Gigabyte 9500GT video card, which caused games to lag and stutter. The BFG Tech 8800 GT is a better card for the money. I play Hellgate London online. At all high settings, the game stutters and the cursor floats uncontrollably around the screen. Three times the game has locked up on me and Windows reported a video card device error. On medium to low settings, the card runs fine and the cursor movement is stable.

Cons: NOISE!!!! This card is LOUD. In fact, after I installed it, I asked my wife to turn off the washing machine so that I could hear my game. She replied that she wasn't washing clothes - the noise was coming from my computer - the video card! That's one noisy card. I don't know how anyone could stand two of them in SLI mode. Another con, No utilities are on the disk that enable you to lower the fan speed (this would be a big help).

Other Thoughts: My system is as follows:

Intel Q6600 CPU
3 GB SDRAM
1TB WD Black Caviar Hard Drive
BFG Tech 8800GT OCE video card

All in all, I still think the card is acceptable for the price (especially after the $30 rebate). I would recommend it for gamers on a budget (but not for typical desktop non-gamer users due to the noise factor).
