Great Card
- Pros: This is a Great card for the money. It runs quite and cool. I popped this card in my Dell 4700 with a pent. 3.20 after the 6800Geforce I had in it fried out and gave me the blue screen of death. It runs everything I have thrown at it so far. All of my FRAG rates from Counter Strike Source, AA2 and AA3, to Halo and even the old R.T.C.W-ET have gone WAY up. GREAT CARD..!!
- Cons: For the same money you COULD get another 9500 with 32 Stream Processors, but the temps would be much higher. I dont know about ya'll but I hate heat.
- Other Thoughts: Great card if you are on a budget. Card and drivers install easy. Very little Heat to ruin other things in your system that will cost even more cash to replace.
Another Angry Fan 2
- Pros: The card's performance is okay not stellar.
- Cons: I purchased the card to replace an Asus GeForce 8500 GT that had gone bad and was wreaking havoc on my system. When I first installed the 9500 GT, there was no signal to the display. I contacted BFG tech support and was told it was probably a bad card. I reinstalled the card a couple of days later. It worked, but the fan moaned and groaned at start-up like a rusted gear. This happens each time at start-up. Once it's spinning, it's relatively quiet but definitely noisier than the 8500 GT. I notice only a very minimal performance boost from the previous card. In the end, I opted to return the card. I'm replacing it with an eVGA 9600 GT for only a slightly higher price (less than $20.00). There's 512 MB of DDR3 memory vs. 1GB of DDR2 on the 9500 GT, and 64 stream processors versus only 16 on the 9500 GT. The specs on the nVidia web site indicate the 9500 GT has 32 stream processors, so it seems it was a BFG design decision to lower the number.
- Other Thoughts: The fan noise at start-up is the worst I've heard on a graphics card. Maybe the tech was right, and it is a defective card.
Great for on a budget
- Pros: + Runs very cool
+1Gb of VRAM, means it doesn't slow down much at higher resolutions +With my system, I could play Crysis on High at 1152x720, not bad at all +Newegg's price is excellent
- Cons: Can't find a con with this card; it's a solid board with very decent performance for the price. Can't run new games at more than 1152x720 (though the Orange Box blazes by at 1680x1050), but that's what higher-end GPUs are for! Can't take off an egg 'cause this board does more than I expected it to.
- Other Thoughts: System setup:
AMD Athlon 64 X2 5600+ Brisbane 2.9GHz (bought off Newegg) 4Gb (2x2Gb) OCZ Gold DDR2-800 RAM (bought off Newegg) 160Gb 5400RPM Hitachi SATA HDD 160Gb 5400RPM Western Digital SATA HDD 550W Optimax TITAN POWER PSU
