4 out of 5 eggsA little pricey but OK otherwise

Pros: I had no issues at all with the card not working, or having the wrong ram size. The performance is is very good though some games (like BioShock) will be a bit choppy when the using the highest graphics setting (this is with a i7 975 running at 4.05GHz and 12G of 1800 DDR3).

No complaints with Newegg.

Cons: I got this card because my GTX 9800 died before the Fermi architecture started shipping. When I eventually get the Fermi, I will put this in my wifes computer or give it to Goodwill.

Other Thoughts: The PSU requirements that many people claim for graphics card and computers in general are silly. Even at the highest loads, the power at the input of the PSU (850W Silverstone) of my PC never exceeds 550 watts, This is with 11 disks (8 on a raid doing a disk test) with burnP6 running on a 4.0GHz i7 975.

Since my PSU supply is about than 80% efficient, this means the delivered power is not more than 80% of 550 or 440 watts and about half of what the PSU delivers. Most PSU's are most efficient at about 50% to 75% load.

There is nothing wrong with having a very efficient power supply (at least 80+ "silver") with about 50% higher rated power than what you measure at the wall but you don't need more than that.

You don't ever want two unless they are designed to be run in pairs. PSU's that are not so designed can actually cause extra problems because currents can flow between the PSU's which creates electrical noise problems.

1 out of 5 eggsBeautiful card

Pros: Beautiful card. Pretty picture on the plastic cover. Nice powerful centrifugal fan, quieter than most but still audible to me. Big, heavy, bulky. Solid installation, doesn't budge.

Cons: Graphic artifacts. Unable to read text in BIOS menu. Didn't go further than that. RMA requested. RMA request accepted. Thank you Newegg.

Other Thoughts: Will write an actual review once the new, working card arrives and I can finally use it as it was intended. Can't give more than one egg at this point.

4 out of 5 eggsPC problem

Pros: In answer to the other review, remember you have to have a power supply that will handle this, that is the biggest problem people have and why many computers freeze up, so if you do not, you either have to buy a card that will run with what power you are using or upgrade your power supply and always remember in your bios to set video to PCI

5 out of 5 eggsSolid

Pros: I just installed this on a new core i7 build. Crysis running on maxed setting with 8x AA on 1900 x 1200 resolution could not be any smoother.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: Not running in SLI and this thing still chew's up Crysis. I think that the 285 is the price vs. peformance sweet spot in Nvidia's lineup.

5 out of 5 eggsReview Part 1

Pros: I bought this on 10/7/09 (and being located in NY and receiving the product from the California warehouse), I was expecting the item on Monday the 12th. I got the product today (Friday the 9th).

AMAZING NewEgg! You made my day.

Cons: Will be installing shortly.

Other Thoughts: My GeForce 8800 Ultra (MSI) was artifacting. I sent it to MSI, they fixed it and sent it back. I'm no longer artifacting, but my PC is still freezing during gaming. I've tried everything else related to MB, drivers, etc. I had that card for two years.

This one has a lifetime warranty, so I'm hoping I'm all set for another couple of years.

5 out of 5 eggshonest gamer...

Pros: Switched form a 4870x2 to a pair of these and possibly triSLI. No more B.S troubled ATI days and cr#p drivers to deal with .. Fed UP!!
When these cards work they are awesome.. I had 1 die within weeks. RMA'd it and no problems so far... they run Crysis maxed with Real lifesis mod at 1920x1080 on a CORE i7 975oc'd to 4 Ghz at over 80fps on some scenes in SLI.

the 2 GB of ram really help

Cons: 1 card died for no reason... FLUKE...? maybe..

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Card

Pros: Excellent video card. I guess I was fortunate unlike others who had issues with the correct ram or card. As far as performance and graphics.... absolutely outstanding. I bought a ATI 4870 1 gig of DDR5 and it was okay, looked pretty good, but could not run WOW at "Ultra" settings with 8x AA. This card handles it with ease and looks like incredible!. I always liked both ATI and Nvidia, but in this particular circumstance, Nvidia did really good. The card is HUGE so make sure you got enough space in your case. Overall, I am very pleased.

Cons: None so far....

1 out of 5 eggsRMAd the first one, and the second one also does not have the correct dedicated memory.

Pros: Newegg is great at responding quickly to problems like this. Despite my cons, I am very pleased that newegg has my back on this matter and is taking care of it as quickly as possible. I would never shop anywhere else because of this!

Cons: I posted the previous review to this card. Today, I received my replacement card from Newegg! Same brand/model. The card is packaged in the correct box and has the correct UPC code (BFGEGTX2852048OCE) for the 2GB model. HOWEVER, there is another sticker (presumably from Nvidia) on the card that states GFGTX2851024OCE10L-N. Once I put the new card in and tested it, Wouldn't you know, it is 1024MB, NOT 2048. Once again, I was sent a card without the advertised RAM. There is a manufacturing glitch with this card or the QA testing is poor. I am RMAing again (waiting ANOTHER 2 weeks) to get a refund, where I will then purchase another brand, so I can finally get my SLI working in my new machine.

Note, both cards came from different newegg warehouses.

Other Thoughts: I strongly recommend avoiding this card for at least a few months until the quality control exists to check the card for the amount of RAM before they put the UPC label on it. Unfortunately, BFG has also let me down - I originally tried to RMA through them, and they still haven't sent me an RMA number, because their servers have been down for a long time.

BUYER BEWARE!

2 out of 5 eggsGot 2 - one didn't have 2gb of ram

Pros: Cheap with volume discount
1 of them had 2GB of memory

Cons: The other one works but only has 1024mb of dedicated video ram..
Box was and PCB were identical for both except for the bios version. See below.

Other Thoughts: I bought two of these to SLI in my new GA-58EX-UD5 rig w/ Windows 7 pro 64bit and one of them had newer bios than the other.. no other obvious difference between them, the boards looked identical besides the bios and serial numbers. Ran each one independently and no matter what drivers/settings I tried, the one with the older bios would report 1024mb whereas the newer bios one would report 2048mb. Wouldn't let me flash the older one because it said the products/boards were different. Pretty sketchy if you ask me, buyer beware! RMAing back to BFG with hopes they'll send me one with the advertised RAM.. Looks like I'm out some time and money on shipping because of someone else's mistake.
