5 out of 5 eggs1st Impressions are VERY good!

Pros: Perfect little card for getting a little more out of an older machine.
I've got an old Asus P4P-800 With a P4 2.8 proc, 2 gigs of ram and I just added this card to a dual monitor setup that I have. I was using an old AGP GeForce FX 5700 to power both monitors.
On Tiger Woods Online I couldn't quite push the graphics to make it run smoothly. I picked up this card, plugged it into an empty PCI slot, hooked my left monitor up to it and left my right monitor on the old card. Now Tiger Woods Online runs like a dream at the highest graphics setting. That was all I really wanted to accomplish with it. I don't do any heavy gaming, but I do like to have some power when I need it.

Cons: The only cons I can see are for people with newer computers that might have dual AGP or PCI E slots. I didn't have those so this was the best option for me.

Other Thoughts: Great card. Quiet, and runs smooth. Perfect for older machines that just won't quite die like my old beast. = )

Good price too. Thanks New Egg!!

1 out of 5 eggsShould Have RMA'd

Pros: Is PCI. Has DVI.

Cons: Poor performance. I should have RMA'd while I had the chance.

Other Thoughts: This card was intended to replace a 32mb TNT2. Even with updated drivers from Nvidia, the TNT2 performs better.

2 out of 5 eggsUnsuitable for HTPC

Pros: Fits into a plain old PCI slot. Yes, PCI, not PCI-express. Nice for older motherboards.
Has VDPAU support for linux machines. This means that you get hardware encoding on XBMC-Live, for those who are interested. It ran 1080p video without a hiccup with my P4 3.0 ghz processor.

Cons: The fan is tiny and ridiculously loud. It sounds like a little chainsaw. I use this in a home theatre PC and it totally ruins it. It's about as loud as an electric razor. Also, the fan is positioned on the card in a way that I don't think many 3rd party GPU heat sinks will fit. Big disappointment.

Other Thoughts: New egg was great, as always

1 out of 5 eggsWon't work in dell systems

Pros: It was bought because it should have been able to upgrade an old system to display HD video and also have a S-video output.

Cons: Unstated in the specifications, this board will not work in a number of Dell computers. It was tried in a Dimension 4550 and a Optiplex GX260. In both cases only the Dell splash screen appeared. The BIOS display did not appear and it never got to boot to Windows. The board was also tried in a new ASUS P5G43T-M mother board and this worked (under Windows 7) . Thus it was proved that board was not defective and was incapable of working in some Dell computers. According to BFG tech support any OEM (read Dell) computer installation that had an ATI based display chip set is unlikely to support this board. Both of these computers had displays which indirectly were related to the ATI chips.

Other Thoughts: I have installed a very large number of video display boards over the years and this is the worst I have seen. Typically if the board is not defective and there is a problem, you can't get it to work at the proper resolution or color set. Not to even display the BIOS is unforgivable.
The good news is that BFG tech support answered the phone quickly. I was not convinced the person who answered had any real understanding of the technical issues. He could not distinguish between a power supply providing the proper voltage and having enough power available. He also could not separate the concepts of software driver problems from what appears to be an incompatibility with the chipset on the motherboard. I would be reluctant to try this board unless you have some reason to believe that it is compatible with the motherboard being used.

4 out of 5 eggsgood gfx card for a budget.

Pros: good card I put this in my media rig to replace a old mx440 and it really brought it to life. the setup was not to bad (even on ubuntu linux) really i dont know what all i can say about this card it is a great gfx card for the money. it gets great fps even on high quality videos and some not so modern games like wolfenstien enamy teritors with all set to high.

Cons: the only con is the card dose not let my pci latch on the back of my case close. the card is seated firmly but you really have to push to get a screw in the latch

Other Thoughts: here are my reedouts of this card as i type this.

core temp 40c

gpu clock 567mhz

memory clock 333mhz

oh and nvidia x server says taht it is pci expressx1 (gen1) but it runs fine in my pci slot.

1 out of 5 eggsDo Not Buy

Pros: It came in a box.

Cons: Absolute waste of time, 5 hours to be exact and 3 of them spent with Tech Support. They ultimately told me to put back my old video card.

Other Thoughts: I cannot tell you how upset (tried using stronger language but was denied) I am right now with the support from BFG/NVIDIA.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Upgrade for older system

Pros: Works in a standard PCI slot, Makes Windows 7 Aero enabled, S-Video out for streaming Netflix & other media. Makes an older PC more compatible with newer software and Operating Systems. No extra power needed.

Cons: None so far

Other Thoughts: My mother needed a newer computer and I happened upon an Athlon XP 2400+ system at the local recycling center (Dump). I brought it home and upgraded the memory & video from Newegg and popped in a DVD burner I wasn't using...Now it works great for anything she needs. Saved hundreds of dollars being able to throw in a $50 card to run Aero & stream video. A vast upgrade from the 733 P2 WinXP system she was running.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Card

Pros: Inexpensive card. Installed in an old Dell Dimension 3000 series desktop running Linux Mint 8. Full Compiz effects now. Even full-screen burn and HD video on my 17" LCD (running 1280*1024)

Excellent card. Highly recommended for older systems with no AGP than need some extra video power.

Cons: Have to reset screen resolution whenever X starts, but it's only a minor issue. No problems with the card itself.
