XFX and NVIDIA's main goal with this card is to put DirectX 10 capabilities into the mid range buyers' hands. Like all members of the 8800 family, the new XFX 8800 GTS 320MB graphics card shares all of the same features as the 8800 GTX and GTS. The funny thing is, with a little overclocking magic, this 320MB card will actually perform its more capacious big brother.

This amazingly talented card features :NVIDIA unified architecture with GigaThread technology; Full Microsoft DirectX 10 Shader Model 4.0 support; NVIDIA SLI ready;16x full-screen anti-aliasing; True 128-bit floating-point high dynamic-range (HDR) lighting; NVIDIA quantum effects physics processing technology; Two dual-link DVI outputs support two 2560x1600 resolution displays; NVIDIA PureVideo technology; PCI Express support; OpenGL 2.0 support; and NVIDIA nView multi-display technology. This is close enough to the "bleeding edge" of video card tech to keep the real game geeks happy, and still stable and powerful enough for the graphics guru trying to get the most from the system!

  • newegg NVIDIA Unified Architecture with UltraThread Technology The Fully-unified shader core dynamically allocates processing power to geometry, vertex, physics and pixel shading operations, delivering incredibly true-to-life 3D graphics. In addition, the massively multi-threaded architecture supports thousands of independent, simultaneous threads, providing extreme processing efficiency in advanced, next generation shader programs.
  • newegg Full Microsoft DirectX 10 Support The world's first DirectX 10 GPU with full Shader Model 4.0 support delivers unparalleled levels of graphics realism and film-quality effects.
  • newegg NVIDIA Lumenex Engine The NVIDIA Lumenex Engine supports 128-bit and 64-bit floating point HDR with up to 16x anti-aliasing, delivering vividly realistic lighting effects while obliterating “jaggies”.
  • newegg NVIDIA SLI Technology Delivers up to 2x the performance of a single GPU configuration for unmatchable gaming experiences. The must-have feature for PCI Express graphics, NVIDIA SLI technology allows two graphics cards to run in parallel and dramatically scales performance on today's hottest games.
  • newegg NVIDIA PureVideo HD Technology The combination of high-definition video decoding acceleration and post-processing delivers unprecedented picture clarity, smooth video, accurate color and precise image scaling for all video content, especially movies.
  • newegg Built for Microsoft Windows Vista Built for Windows Vista, NVIDIA's fourth-generation GPU architecture offers users the best possible experience using the Windows Aero 3D graphical user interface available in Microsoft latest operating system.

4 out of 5 eggsNice Budget Card

Pros: Pretty decent card for the money. OCs very nice, got mine running at 650 core, 990 memory. Temps are around 60-65*C at load, so no too horribly bad. Plays Call of Duty 4, HL2:E2, Oblivion, Lost Planet at 1680x1050 (22" widescreen) at max settings with decent, playable frame rates.

Cons: Temps were pretty warm on the GPU (70*C+) until I added a fan to my case. My case has some vents next to the Video Card slot so I just jury-rigged a fan onto that vent and now it runs fairly cool.

Other Thoughts: Kinda wish I would have gone with EVGA for the step up feature they offer, but I didn't learn about that until after I bought this card (of course).

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Card!

Pros: No problems installing card. Great performance for price.

Cons: ntune crashes when I try to read card temps. This could be a problem with my driver or motherboard?

1 out of 5 eggsSTOP - - Don't Buy!

Pros: 8800 GTS 320 "was" the best performance for price.

Cons: XFX customer service is horrible. The don't offer a step-up program, like EVGA. Buy from EVGA, don't ever buy anything from XFX.

8800 GT is double the fps for less of the $$$!

Other Thoughts: XFX doesn't offer any sort of trade-up like EVGA. I should of researched this prior to buying. I have a card that is $50 more and half the fps of the 8800 GT and I'm stuck with it.

5 out of 5 eggsdecently priced high performance video card

Pros: Good value for performance. Doesn't seem to run very hot. Runs the games I've played so far (tf2, stalker, portals, hl2:ep2, lotro, others...) comfortably smooth at super high settings, often max settings. "Comfortably smooth" is subjective though, and I can enjoy a game pretty well with no more than 25 or so fps. Rebate, hate'em but they usually work.

Cons: Video cards are so expensive.

Other Thoughts: SLI two of these rather than buy one of those 700-800 dollar cards. I think you'll be doing pretty darn well with two of these. I intentionally barred myself from SLI by buying a different (non-SLI) northbridge mobo. Just a thought for others, though.

5 out of 5 eggsOne more thing

Pros: Forgot to mention this- for those complaining about this card being hot, use Riv*Tun*r to turn fan up to 100%. This card uses a very quiet fan and the extra noise is barely noticeable. Brought my temps down to 50C idle and 65C load when oc'ed to 580/875

Cons: Not free

5 out of 5 eggsSmokin

Pros: Great card- handles almost anything you throw at it, overclocks well. Newegg delivered superfast as usual. XFX honored the rebate, received it after about 5 weeks. This is your best bang for the buck.

Cons: Just played Crysis demo and it runs fine on high settings and 1024x768 with aa turned off. Seems to be as much as you can get with this card, chokes up at 1280x1024 and aa 4x, didn't even bother with very high settings.

5 out of 5 eggsGood product

Pros: This card is awesome. To give you a frame of reference, I can play World of Warcraft at 1280x1024 (19" monitor native resolution) with EVERYTHING at max. This includes 8xAA and Max AF. Plays Lost Planet, Battlefield 2, World in Conflict, Half-Life 2 all on High or Max settings. Dollar for performance ratio is very nice. I am very happy with this card.

It runs very quiet for such a performance monster. The double-bracket fan outlet design works well from not letting a lot of heat go into my computer case. Other than a minor installation bump everything works as advertised.

Cons: The only con I can think of is I had to remove the screwless clips on my case for the expansion/PCI-E slots so the double-bracket design would fit into my case. This was very simple though (2 screws)

Other Thoughts: Intel e6750, 2gb ddr2-1066 ram, Gigabyte P35-DS3L, OCZ 600-watt powersupply

5 out of 5 eggsI couldn't be happier

Pros: Everything looks fantastic, I play BF2142 MAX and MSFSX MAX and have no problems. A few reviews ago someone mentioned they only got one DVI-VGA adapter and no break out cable, this was my case too. However, I contacted the company by email through their website and recieved the missing things in a few days. This was my first build and I purchased the video card last and its the first rebate i've recieved. Great customer service.

Cons: It is a big card and I planned for it to take some room, the comment about two slots is correct. You don't want to put anything below it that would interfere with its cooling fan. I have plenty of slots though and you should only have problems if you install on small boards. Great Card.

5 out of 5 eggsATI = 0 - Nvidia = 1

Pros: Q6600 + Giga P35 DS3R + 2 x 1Gb Buffalo Firestix DDR2 800, XFX 8800 GTS 320Mb::::> 3DMark 01 - 43,974 / 3DMark 03 - 29,994 / 3DMark 06 - 9,980. All on an Acer 22" LCD Widescreen. BF2 MAX, C&C 3 MAX, COD2 Max you can't beat this card for value.

Cons: I always bought ATI, sorry but being loyal to a company these days isn't very smart at all. I'm going with the best bang for the buck.

Other Thoughts: Its not loud in my Antec P182 so it could be the case but I wouldn't care if it sounded like a vacum cleaner with the performance it delivers, BTW its not loud at all :D

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome card.

Pros: Image Quality, speed, OC'ing ability (as long as you got the proper cooling/air flow of course =p).

Cons: It's big - but that's not truly a con.

Other Thoughts: This card is amazing. I'm coming from a 7800GTX and the difference is night and day. I read a lot of review sites and benchmarks on this card, and got a little concerned when they were saying it could do better. I have no idea what they are talking about. Games like FEAR, UT3 demo, CoD4 Demo, Far Cry run between 50 - 60FPS, with everything cranked high at a 16:10 resolution. Just buy this card.
