1 out of 5 eggsCondensers blew up

Pros: At the time it was cheap and could play most games at pretty high res.

Cons: I've had it for over 4 years and suddenly one day, 2 capacitors blew up. I think it also caused the the motherboard's slot to fry as well since it cant seem to be able to make any PCI-e video cards to work.

Other Thoughts: Products should last forever. At the time I had some money to budget at gaming. Now I don't and I cant even watch movies anymore! It sucks

1 out of 5 eggscard broke, multiple rmas, terrible service.

Pros: It works.

Cons: Popped capacitors. I hate them. This card had them after 9 months, and then the "repaired" one they sent me had an extruded capacitor upon arrival.

XFX offers a "lifetime warranty", which means that you can send it back every month for another broken card or something.

5 out of 5 eggsXFX PVT84JUDD3 GeForce 8600GT XXX 256MB 128-bit GDDR3

Pros: Owned for 5+ years and still works as new. But retired recently for an upgrade that wasn't really needed. When I first bought it was upper middle class. Loved so much that I bought a BFG 8600 GTS OC 512 MB version shortly after which is still going strong in my secondary comp.

Cons: Probably should have just found another used 8600 GT and SLI'd for the next year or 2 with a new PS instead of recently buying a new PS and the 7770 I just sprung for.

Other Thoughts: Too bad this card is only worth about $25 tops now. But.. SLI it if you already have one and you will be in decent shape till the $125 - $200 cards come down $50 and maybe more. But.. From the looks of things.. If you are running a 8600 and need a little boost.. It might be good to SLI anyway till it gets to the point where grafics cards won't be needed any more. The onboard grafics look to be the wave of the future for casual or non gamers like me. For me.... As long as the downloaded videos or songs don't stop to buffer I am good. This is why I upgraded. My BFG still keeps up but the XFX was starting to lag. Got a great deal on my 7770 vid card and PC - P&C MK III mod power supply for about $175 shipped after rebates. I'm about bang for the buck without building a monster gaming comp. Next... Gen 3 I5 processor and X77 or 79 MB with screaming 8 GB 2133 ram or better. ;o)

2 out of 5 eggsDied after 1 year of light use

Pros: Ran well. No glitches.

Cons: Owned for little over a year before resister blew. Ran smoothly while functioning. No heavy use, games, etc. Plenty o' power, etc.

Other Thoughts: Died just after year warranty. Not happy.

3 out of 5 eggsWarranty Issues

Pros: While working, this was a very nice, quiet card.

Cons: Problem started when computer would inexplicably wake from suspend. Also, loud noises would occasionally come from the case (caps popping). Happened 3 times in one week.

Card failed after a little over 2 years of light use. Due to Double Lifetime warranty not being honored (unless the card was registered within 30 days of purchase), I'll have to fix it myself.

Card has a compliment of Sacon FZ capacitors that will fail after about 2 years of light use, more if heavily used. Before calling themselves Sacon they were SCG. Beware of Sacon FZ, XFX uses them heavily in their mid range and low end cards. The SMD (surface mount) caps are not SaconFZ, and can be left alone.

They look like polymer caps, but do not be deceived, they are electrolytic, through hole type, even.

Other Thoughts: The bad caps are typically light blue with a K on top. They are:
CX45/46 CX19/21 CX22/25
FZ76 1500 (replace with Panasonic FM EEU-FM0J152) 3 of these

CX1/6
FZ76 1000 (replace with Panasonic FM EEU-FM0J102) 1 of these

CX15/42 CX11/40 CX9/44
FZ79 470 (replace with Panasonic FM EEU-FM1C471L) 3 of these

(Note the Panasonic caps are taller by 2.5 cm and wider by 2 cm).

5 out of 5 eggsgreat card

Pros: Great card. Got this card when I bought a custom dell 4 years ago. Not one issue through all these years. Ran 1 monitor at 1660x1080 the whole time, now runs 2 monitors beautifully. Very stable and does not emit a ton of heat through your system. Did NOT overclock it though. Counter Strike Source is played on it often and sometimes for 10 hour periods....runs flawless on 95 percent of maps. I can't complain one bit about this.

Cons: none. this card is great considering its 4 years old and only has 256mb onboard memory.

2 out of 5 eggs50% Return

Pros: Worked well with sli setup. Cheap

Cons: The one card blew out in a year. XFX support is terrible. I started contacting them a month ago and am getting irritated. If i didnt have the other without sli, my computer would be down and i'd be even more furious
Extremely loud.

Other Thoughts: apparently you pay for what you get

5 out of 5 eggsOne year and still good

Pros: Does what I want it to do.

Cons: About the only con which is not a con really, is the rebate never got back to me.

Other Thoughts: I was wanting to upgrade to a 9800gt, but I don't think I will. I am going to wait a year or so and just get a whole new computer. I play BF2 and Call of Duty4 on max settings with this card. I got Crysis and can play on medium with no lag. I play BF2 the most online, so this will be all the card I need.
I am running a Acer ast180 with Vista 32bit, AMD 4400+, 4 gb Gskill, 585 psu, 19" Acer wide screen, Razer DA, Exactmat with rest, cyber snipa game pad,and this XFX 8600gt. My setup runs flawlessly.
New computer with better hardware for me in the future. But for now, I feel not left behind, yet.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat product

Pros: I have this graphics card for a year now and it has performed fraudlessly, earning a 5.9 on the windows graphics rating.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I am thinking of upgrading my 32-bit vista to 64-bit. Does anybody know whether this card will support the 64-bit OS?
