Great Card
- Pros: Its looks cool. Not a real performance pro I guess, but come on. it has a masked dog on it. cool. Anyway, I ran this card for about 8 solid months of playing crysis online MP, and COD 4 campaign. Its a great card. I was running COD 4 on the highest settings no problem and crysis on high. Its a great card.
- Cons: no cons
- Other Thoughts: Its a fairly small card for its performance. Its narrow but pretty long.
I am about to SLI this GPU in my next build. Im expecting some nice results from these cards.
No longe cutting-edge, but still fantastic.
- Pros: Although no longer the relative budget powerhouse it was at this time last year, this card is still more than capable of pushing Half-Life 2 and all of its variants at 1920x1200 on high settings (though anti-aliasing may need to be turned down to keep things seamless under all circumstances). GPU temperatures are as low as can expected of a single-slot reference card and power consumption is better than reasonable. 512MB of DDR3 is ideal for this card; even at high resolutions, it isn't hampered by capacity or bandwidth (as lesser 256MB DDR2 models often are).
The included XFX drivers and such played well with Vista x64 though this is certainly to be expected.
- Cons: None to speak of, assuming you aren't looking for a card to play Crysis at ridiculous resolutions.
- Other Thoughts: The soulless gaze of the furry design makes me glad that my case is windowless, thus shielding my shins from its questionable intents. My wireless card is no doubt vaguely creeped out.
Great Card, Very Loud
- Pros: Purchased this card for a server workstation used mainly for heavy photoshop editing. Rarely used for games. Despited my worries, the card works fine with the TYAN S5396A2NRF. Plenty of room on the board for the card. Nice that its a single slot, keeping it from blocking the next slot. The PCI-Express slot next to is being used and I have not noticed any heat issues there.
- Cons: As many other people have mentioned the fan is extremely loud. This card is BY FAR the loudest component in this build, and I have 3 230mm fans, 1 140mm, 1 mem cooler, and 2 Dynatron CPU coolers, and 850W PS running. This fan drowns out any other fan noise. Its loud, but once the case is together, even though its a very mesh case, its not obnoxiously loud. But I have seen much larger VC fans that are much quieter that this. If not for this card this build would have been shockingly quiet.
- Other Thoughts: Dual Intel Xeon E5410 Harpertown 2.33GHz, TYAN S5396A2NRF Dual LGA 771 Intel 5400, 2x Kingston 4GB 240-Pin DDR2 FB-DIMM DDR2 667, Western Digital VelociRaptor WD3000GLFS , XFX PVT88PYDD4 GeForce 8800GT XXX 512MB, COOLER MASTER HAF 932 RC-932-KKN1-GP, SILVERSTONE DECATHLON DA850 850W, Western Digital Caviar Black WD5001AALS, LG 22X DVD±R DVD Burner, SYBA SD-PCXSA2-2E2R PCI-X, BYTECC PCIE 1394a + USB 2.0 Combo Card, EVERCOOL MNC-E Fans, 2x Dynatron H46G 77mm 2 Ball CPU Cooler, Scythe KM01-BK "KAZE MASTER" 5.25" Bay Fan Controller, Microsoft Windows Vista Ultimate SP1 64-bit

Introduction
XFX took the splendid 8800GT GPU and tweaked it so you can game like the Alpha Dog you are. The core clock has been boosted to 670MHz and the memory clock jumps to 1950MHz to wring every last ounce of performance from the 512 MB ofGDDR3 memory. Of course, if that isn't enough juice you can add another card in SLI.
All that power drives the Lumenex engine for lightning fast anti-aliasing and HDR Lighting for stunning realism. The Quantum Effects Technology utilizes advanced shader processors to deliver an entirely new level of physics effects that are rendered on the GPU leaving the CPU free to run the game engine and the AI.
The built in PureVideo HD Technology was specifically designed to enhance your HD experience. Built in hardware decode acceleration of H.264, VC-1, WMV and MPEG-2 HD and SD movies provides a theater-like experience. The HDCP compliant dual-link DVI ports allow you to play your HD-DVD and Blu-ray discs.
