smooth
- Pros: extremely fast on any graphics intensive programs I have thrown at it so far
- Cons: runs a little warm (second room heater)
Night and Day
- Pros: This thing is FAST compared to my old 8600. I know that's to be expected, but I was completely blown away. HL2 never dips below 50fps, even on some of the craziest action, the HDR test "Lost Coast" it just gobbles for breakfast and asks for more! CUDA enabled PhysX doesn't hurt performance much at all. Very good for the price, considering the 280 is over $100 more and only about 20% faster. Crysis at Med-High settings finally, and with no lag! HUZZAH!
- Cons: HUGE. You thought the 8800GTX was huge, this thing is just as big, and a little longer. I had one HELLUVA time getting it into my CoolerMaster Mystique case, especially getting it around the HDD cage in the front. Woulda helped had the case been slightly modular and the cage been removable. Make sure you have a HUGE case.
- Other Thoughts: Also, make sure you're not going to be smothering your chipset cooler either, like mine is now. It's crashing daily once it hits a certain temperature, like clockwork. I've had to turn my A/C down to 68f in order to get a full day out of the machine.
Great card
- Pros: Awesome processing power - scored over 11000 on 3DMark06. I am able to run all my games at max video settings running 1680x1050 resolution. Also overclocks very well, was able to easily match the clocks of another vendor's "For-The-Win edition" card. Not really necessary though as it is more than competent at stock. Also is very quiet, cannot hear the card over the gentle whisper of my case fans.
- Cons: Power hungry at load make sure you have a PSU that exceeds 500W.
- Other Thoughts: Great price.
