flawless
- Pros: The whining I read about is due to inadequate PSU amperage and watts. It happens on a lot of video cards and usually blows out the PSU for the inexperienced. Plan ahead. As far as my card goesit plays Crysis Warhead in Ethusiast with my Q9650 at stock and Patriot 2K ram on an EVGA 790 Ultra board using the black slots. I plan to add a 2nd soon.
- Cons: None it is flawless and I have tested this with 6 different boards and systems. I own a computer repair shop. Get a good case for cooling at least mid tower. Recommend Raidmax Smildon or if you are hardcore and doing sli an Antec 900 or 1200. I use the 1200 with the CPX 850 the perfect match.
- Other Thoughts: If you are looking for even more fps get a fast drive such as a caviar black or better yet a Raptor 300gb. They also speed up loading between scenes.
Awsome
- Pros: Extremly fast
Overclocks great looks awsome Crysis finally runs smoothly on very high XFX has GREAT service
- Cons: some models make a high pitched ringing noise, but this is not isolated to the XFX 285.
- Other Thoughts: XFX has great service, lifetime warrenty which lets you overclock it and change the fan. The card looks great, and it overclocks well. Mineran at 722mhz fine. Runs ALL games smoothly, even crysis at max settings (1680x1050). My card makes a ring noise, but this is an nvidia problem not XFX. Looking for a 285? Go with this one.
Aweseom Card!
- Pros: Sleek, black and green. Comes with Farcry 2 AND newegg throws in CoD5! Both sweet games and this card owns them.
Overclocks nicely. Box looks sweet and the packaging was solid. Comes with one 4pin molex to 6pin pci-e connector.
- Cons: No voltage regulator! I'm not even sure what voltage this card runs at but you cannot change it with any type of software. Whines during game menus and loading. No drivers included on the CD (CD had nothing to offer). It tells you to go to Nvidia's website for the latest drivers.
No case badge was included in the box.
Because of these reasons, XFX only got 4 eggs.
- Other Thoughts: I upgraded from a 7900GS AGP build so you know I'm loving this new power. I just ordered my 2nd card to run in dual sli mode. With my setup, I'm able to run max settings on 1080p for all games so far (win xp 64). Crysis sometimes see's 30s but on average its around 58 fps. Ideally I want to be 60 or higher on average so it was a must for an extra card.
Another company didn't add any case badges with their product and after I registered it, and mentioned to them it was messing from the contents, they sent me a whole lot of them. I'm going to try the same with XFX if a badge is not included with this next card.
