5 out of 5 eggsNice upgrade

Pros: From an nVidia 8600gts to this, a big improvement. I'm happy, it works. Runs Assassin's Creed and AoC beautifully. All this for a budget card.

Cons: Fan is a little bit on the louder side, but it's fine.

Other Thoughts: Xaser VI, AM2, MSI, Enermax, WD 500 gb.

4 out of 5 eggsNoisy

Pros: 256 bit, single space.

Cons: Noise. Lots of noise.

Other Thoughts: Fan is incredibly loud even at low temps. Not defect loud, just movin' a lot of air loud. Very distracting. Other than that, the card works well, and doesn't hog two spaces- although I wouldn't want to try and install anything in the space below it- the fan would probably suck the other card right in, chew it up, and spit it out at my drives...

5 out of 5 eggsGreat card, more powerful than specs indicate - 4850 like

Pros: As noted in an earlier review, this card DOES have 800 shaders on it (as reported by GPU-Z) - same as the Radeon 4850. Also, the version of this card Newegg stocks IS single slot (as of week of May 31st), which is great for those of us with smaller cases. Performance is fantastic, and XFX's packaging is really just well done. Got to love that 'double lifetime' warranty, too - just remember to register the card!

Cons: Well, it's LOUD out of the box. Not 'GeForce 5800' loud, but definitely noisy. Cooler on it looks like the old GeForce 6800GT coolers, and it sounds like it, too. Still, easy enough to use Catalyst Control Center or something to set fan speed at 50%, and problem is solved.

Other Thoughts: REMEMBER TO REGISTER THE CARD! You have to register it with XFX to get the warranty. Thoughtfully, they included a card with the packaging with your card s/n, so you don't have to disassemble your system to get at it.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks well, even on a microATX board.

Pros: * This card in particular seems to use the same core as the 4850. Two pieces of software, one being GPU-Z, show that the card has 800 shaders, not 640. If they use the same core, theoretically this card would be able to clock up to 4850 speeds.

* The single slot design is useful for microATX systems. The Gigabyte board I have has only the BIOS battery blocked off. Nothing else gets in the way of the longer card design.

* The card, as a whole, runs like a champ. Turn volumetrics to Medium in Crysis, and it's quite playable (for me, anyways) on High. Easily playable on Medium. Everything else I've thrown at it has passed with flying colors.

Cons: * The single slot design means that heat is pumped out towards the front of the case. If the case doesn't feature front ventilation, consider spending the extra on the 4850 for its rear ventilation. If you have a case with front ventilation, make sure that any fan in the front is set for exhaust, not intake.

Other Thoughts: Works beautifully with me, and because of it I've finally returned to play TF2. I thought the card itself was overheating, until I realized that the air was pumping out to the front of the case. One exhaust fan later, and I've got a single-slot 4830 that's clocked to 4850 spec.

For the record, my system's specs are as follows:
* Cooler Master Centurion 5
* Gigabyte GA-E7AUM-DS2H
* Intel E7500 Core 2 Duo @ ~3.2GHz
* 2GB DDR2 667
* XFX Radeon HD 4830 (this card)
* Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeGamer (refurb)
* Enermax Liberty DXX 500W Power Supply

4 out of 5 eggs800sp

Pros: Hey update on this card, I ran GPU-Z and this card shows that it has the 800 sp. I also have another 4830 by Shappire and that shows 640. If you want a poor mans 4850 and the other stock starts to dwindle this may be the card to get.

Cons: Overclocking don't bother and still loud.

4 out of 5 eggsLoud,Loud,Loud

Pros: Single slot

Cons: Price, also the fan is very,very,very loud, but I keep my side cover off, so its going to be louder than usual. The card fan almost reminds me of when I had the old 5800 ultra.

Other Thoughts: I got this card for xfire set-up needed single slot card. If you don't need a single slot card and want a 4830 don't buy this. Its longer and much louder than the Sapphire 4830 that I have, and that card almost seemed silent compared to this card. Even with my side cover off.

5 out of 5 eggsRunning Steady!

Pros: This thing can run my old Compaq monitor on higher settings then it allows without any stutter in picture or performance, so it is making dual monitors work out way better for me, and it has made the picture on my main LCD flatscreen monitor much more vivid and so much nicer to look at. It is running nicely, on all the games I've been able to test it on and has brough to my attention minor details in art that I've never seen before. So for picture quality this was a great buy, but ATI is the best for the vivid picture.

Cons: only having enough money to buy 1

Other Thoughts: Man, playing games now encompasses looking at everything again, I feel like a kid in wonderland... I've always been the clear picture person, I hate static and stutter and all that annoying crud. So this card was a good choice, and with the lifetime warranty through XFX whop could complain??

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome Card, Great Price

Pros: The card itself. Everything about this card was beautiful, even the packaging amazed me. Folds like a champ and plays my games great with no stutter.

Cons: the cooling system. it just pushes all the hot air into my case and its very loud. The loudest fan i have in my system. Fixing its speed in the Catalyst control center helps, but sometimes the control center crashes because of the manual control.

Other Thoughts: If you need Next gen graphics card and want to fold too this card is great for the price.
