1 out of 5 eggsYou wont get your rebate

Pros: small

Cons: I was denied my rebate by xfx stating that my upc code was not a valid one, I only bought this card because the rebate price made it a good buy... I followed all the instructions to receive my rebate exactly and all I got was a waisted stamp

Other Thoughts: go with another brand, you can get a much better card for the same as the full price of this card

2 out of 5 eggsAn upgrade is a downgrade

Pros: If the rebate comes through, it was a cheap way to upgrade a motherboard with a Radeon 3000 video chip.

Cons: Just for S&G's, I temporarily popped it into a gigabyte motherboard with a Radeon 4200 onboard video. The Windows Experience Graphics score dropped. The Gaming Graphics score increase by 0.2.

Other Thoughts: I've noticed this effect with other Radeon cards. The Graphics performance drops while the Gaming Graphics score improves.

3 out of 5 eggsCooling fan sticks

Pros: It is a good price for a good card if you get the rebate

Cons: It would cost more to send it back for replacment then it would to go buy an after market fan an put it in.

Other Thoughts: Running in a htpc on an older model television works well. hopeing that the fan will start to work and not have to be hand started for long dont want to have down time waiting for the new one .

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Performance For the $$$

Pros: This card was used to replace a malfunctioning Geforce 8600GT. It outperforms that card handily (~15 fps boost in most games). Matches the AMD chipset that is on the board better than the NVidia card.

Cons: As long as it hold up for the customer, no complaints.

Other Thoughts: The price/performance ratio is off the charts for this card (if your used to an 8600GT).

5 out of 5 eggsgood basic card

Pros: good basic card, price, and mail-in rebate offer.

does not require it's own direct power plug

Cons: poor WEI scores: 3.7 in graphics, 5.8 gaming graphics (ok, actually)

Other Thoughts: bought because of the price of the card.

bought for the in-laws, who will never need an advanced vid card

1 out of 5 eggsI was wrong - updated review

Pros: reasonable price, small size, relatively quiet

Cons: drivers aren't good, doesn't run ETQW at all or MOHAA - Airborne except at 800x600. Card disables on board audio, catalyst software doesn't start.

Other Thoughts: This card was in a ASRock 785G MB with a AMD 3.0GHz Regor, ie, all AMD. And yet, the components don't work well together. I replaced the card with a 9800GT, and all the problems went away. You would really think AMD could figure out how to make their own parts work well together.

4 out of 5 eggsGood for the price

Pros: Decent value for the money for playing older games.

Cons: Quake Wars Enemy Territory freezes using the latest ATI drivers.

Other Thoughts: Would give it 5 stars if ET:QW worked.

3 out of 5 eggsCrossfire?

Pros: As a stand alone low cost video card it does the job. It has allowed me to increase the settings for my games and seems to handle my CAD programs with ease.

Cons: Software Crossfire only… My system was built to tack advantage of crossfire but this card does not use the crossfire cable that came with the motherboard. Bench mark test show little improvement when crossfire active in the provided software. I gained 1.5 frames per second on the 3D rendering test. All other video test appeared to be the same rate with or without crossfire active. If I did not buy two with the intent of running them in a crossfire setup I would have rated the card as a 4 or 5. Not a Newegg issue as the manufacture claims the cards support Crossfire, but I see no gain over a single card.

Other Thoughts: MB - MSI 790FX-GD70 AM3 AMD 790FX ATX AMD Motherboard - supports up to 4 PCI 2.0 x16 video, running 2 in MB prescribe slots.
CPU - AMD Phenom II X4 945
Rosewill BRONZE series RBR750-M 750W power supply
4 GB of RAM
I expected more of a performance improvement with the crossfire setup. Past system was SLI and the second card added a noticeable improvement both in perception and test results. The single card is performing better than my old system with the SLI setup but that system has a lesser CPU and 1 GB of RAM.

2 out of 5 eggsCould be better

Pros: Plays semi-modern games well. Cheap, same GPU as 4670, operates at 1.15 stock voltage instead of 1.25. The DDR2 ram seems to overclock well, but you're still using DDR2. No PCI-E power adapter required. Doesn't get too hot. It's colored black. Was able to undervolt the GPU further to 1v, managed to gain an extra 5ghz overclocking the gpu (less heat?)...but that does not matter much, read below...

Cons: If you're looking in this price range, look for a different card. The DDR2 memory cripples the card. The card I got was only able to overclock the GPU by 25mhz.

XFX doesn't seem to care much about level of quality for these cards. The frequency is locked at 400/600 ram/gpu for all stages, even while the card is idling. Pretty much ever other 4650 downclocks significantly. Checked other manufacturers BIOS, reflashed the card (and voided the warranty) to downlock the GPU to 165 mhz and undervolted the GPU as other makers do. Dropped the temp by about 5c while casually using PC.

Fan also decided to start making noise and then die. Required re-lubricating the rotor.

Other Thoughts: While it's good, for $5-10 more you could do much better. Needed a cheap card. Got it as part of a bundle elsewhere. The stock ram is 400mhz, able to maintain a constant 491mz overclock on ram. Because of the bottleneck the DDR2 gives the card, this amounts to a 20% gain in framerates. A DDR3 card would be much faster. I'm a bit confused as why XFX still keeps selling these. The card runs hotter than most other 4650s, and considering issues with the GPU not scaling down it's a poor choice for a HTPC unless you void your warranty by re-flashing the bios.
