NVIDIA's ninth generation series of graphics cards brings cutting edge technology and advanced capabilities together for best-in-class performance. The 9600GT is the solution for all your graphic cravings. It’s Microsoft Vista ready and equipped with a PCI-Express 2.0 interface for the most up-to-date system. Its NVIDIA SLI technology doubles your performance range by letting you use two graphics cards in parallel.

It supports DirectX 10, Shader Model 4.0, OpenGL 2.1 and NVIDIA's PureVideoHD technologies. The card's core clock runs at 650MHz, relieving your CPU of pixel crunching duty. Data surges through the 9600GT's 64 stream processors which are fed by 512MB of 256-bit 1800MHz GDDR3 memory. Twin dual-linked DVI and 400 MHz RAMDAC lets you display 2560 x 1600 resolution video and graphics on even the largest monitors.

You can support multiple monitors or output to other video displays via the S-Video and HDTV connectors for maximum flexibility. The 9600GT delivers fluid frame rates and HD video with brilliant clarity to give you an entertainment experience that is easy on the eyes – as well as on the wallet.

  • newegg NVIDIA Unified Architecture with GigaThread Technology The fully-unified shader core dynamically allocates processing power to geometry, vertex, physics and pixel shading operations, delivering incredibly true-to-life 3D graphics. In addition, the massively multi-threaded architecture supports thousands of independent, simultaneous threads, providing extreme processing efficiency in advanced, next generation shader programs.
  • newegg PCI Express 2.0 Interface The PCI Express 2.0 interface delivers an ultra-high data rate of up to 16 GB/s, and is backward compatible with PCI Express x16 (PCI-E 1.0), so you can upgrade the graphics of your existing system with the XFX PV-T96G-YHF.
  • newegg Full Microsoft DirectX 10 Support The DirectX 10 GPU with full Shader Model 4.0 support delivers unparalleled levels of graphics realism and film-quality effects.
  • newegg NVIDIA SLI Technology Delivers up to 2X the performance of a single GPU configuration for unmatchable gaming experiences. The must-have feature for PCI Express graphics, NVIDIA SLI technology allows two graphics cards to run in parallel and dramatically scales performance on today's hottest games.
  • newegg NVIDIA PureVideo HD Technology The combination of high-definition video decoding acceleration and post-processing delivers unprecedented picture clarity, smooth video, accurate color and precise image scaling for all video content, especially movies.

3 out of 5 eggsRead below

Pros: Good price. Fit in my case. Doesn't take up two slots.

Cons: Fan is extremely loud. Performance is not the best.

I noticed frame 'stuttering' in games despite framerate being reported as solid. Noticed a few graphical glitches as well, which left me concerned.

Other Thoughts: I will probably RMA in the next ffew days. My board has onboard graphics....which sucks comparatively, but wont force me to shell out cash for a replacement card.

Pros: Whats better then one of these cards 2! runs crysis on all high settings with no lag at all, bumped some up to very high, on a 1440z900 res. very fast and everything looks great. easy to overclock the cards in the nvidia control panel. and to Aesmyrra the sli bar is abled in the nvidia control panel, you can turn it off by going there and click on the sli tab then at the top there is a setting for Show SLI visual indicators. then it will go away

Cons: sometimes the graphics will show random lines and triangles in the game that are a solid color i am not sure what that is.

Other Thoughts: xfx 790i ultra

OCZ Intel Extreme Edition 12800 2x2gb ddr3

5 out of 5 eggsWhat a deal

Pros: Great price and performance. I'm able to play Far Cry 2, COD WAW at 1680 x 1050 with settings on high. Crysis on high at 1280 x 1024 with no problem. If you want performance with a little cash to spare i would highly recommend this card.

Cons: No HDMI but that's not a big deal. Might be too long for someone with a small case

1 out of 5 eggsAsking for a replacement

Pros: None so far other than it seemed to be a good deal. A friend had great luck with his.

Cons: Worked about an hour then started locking up. Can't get more than 30 seconds past Vista32 Ultimate login to attempt troubleshooting. Put back old old 8600GT card and all is fine :(

4 out of 5 eggsOne Hell Loud Card

Pros: ok, i just bought the card for a upgrade for playing games. i play cod4, l4d, crysis and runs everything almost at high 1680 x 1050. performance on this card is grrrreat for todays game. nice card for the money.

Cons: i recieve the card yesturday. when install, the fan was HELLA LOUD!!! when starting up the system, BOOM! you hear the gpu fan like a mini vacuum. it is annoying. but after couple seconds it slow down. other than that its a great card. still i hate it. also another con is! on the picture the card looks absolutly small like my 8600 gts. open up the box and it was the size of a 8800 gts. anyway its not much of a con.

Other Thoughts: if you are not bother by hearing a vacuum inside your case for couple seconds, go for it. its performance is eggxcellent and can play todays games. i would recommend anyone.

5 out of 5 eggs55 Bucks!

Pros: Fifty-Five Dollars...unless it dumps you can't go wrong!

Cons: None yet, I'll let you know if there are...

Other Thoughts: I really agonized over this, my other considerations were the Radeon 4850 and XFX's 9800GT or the 9600GSO. Woulda gone with the GSO if not for the 192-bit bandwidth, or less. Best value for gaming IMO is the 4850 as it offers superb performance, and then the 9800GT. But I only game now and then, so most of my use is for video editing, and of course my HTPC.

I have concerns about power and heating in both the 4850 and the 9800, along with possible issues in the quality of video rendering and conversion on the 4850. The 9600GT appears to draw less power and run cooler than the 4850 or the 9800 and offers the same video quality as the 9800. With an average hit of 10% on performance, the 9600GT's $55 price tag nailed it for me!

I'll upgrade again when the GT250 or any of it's cousins' price tag gets this low next year, to a one-gig'er that is!

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome

Pros: This card has definitely impressed me. For the price you will not get a better card! Very fast can run most games on Full settings flawlessly. I used this card as an upgrade from my Nvidia 6800 and was stunned at the difference. I recommend this card to everyone!

Cons: Comes with just the card and Svideo cable. No documentation needed for installation though. Straight forward.

Other Thoughts: Don't hesitate, just buy it!

5 out of 5 eggsGood Card!

Pros: I should of waited untill this came out instead of spending 350 bucks on a 8800GTS G92 which this card atleast feels like it runs a good race with it. Plays games excellent. bought this with a phenom ii x2 545 and a asus m4a78 plus motherboard.

Cons: Runs a Lil hot for me thats why they created Riv**uner

Other Thoughts: Buy It, It is worth 59.99 + Free shipping to game on any game.

5 out of 5 eggsGood Budget Card

Pros: The card has good output for its price tag. For me, it was a upgrade from a 6800GS that is going to help my system keep up for another year or so. I purchased specifically to run Street Fighter 4 on PC and it does so easily without getting too hot. You can OC the card rather easily with Nvidia software also.

Cons: The fan can get loud when running at 100%. When I crank it to max, it is the loudest thing in my computer.

Other Thoughts: The card is rather long, so if you have a cramped case, be aware of this. Overall, this is a great buy for the money. Gonna be hard to find a better card at this price.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent card for the money

Pros: This card is cheap - at only 60 bucks, it was only 10 USD more than the cheapest 3850 at purchase time. Good for a budget game build, which is what I used it for. Quiet under load, and doesn't need alot of power. 512MB VRAM handles all of what nvidia's 64 shader G94 can throw at it. Overclocking gives you near 8800 performance, with some added fan noise.

High quality DVI video out and gpu-accelerated post-processing (as expected).

Cons: 64-shader G94 in theory has better raster OP/texture performance than the seemingly archaic 112 shader G92 in the 8800gt, but comes up short at higher resolution's regardless (usually ~15%). Not a big con, at the price and power consumption levels.

Other Thoughts: I have crysis results for those interested:
Wolfsdale E5200 2MB @ 3.75Ghz/1200FSB
Crucial DDR2-800 CL6-5-5-17-24 (single channel)

17" FD Trinitron
XP Pro 32-bit SP2/Crysis Bench Tool 1.05
XFX 9600GT with Arctic Silver Ceramic Paste on *all* heatsink contact points

In stock guise, plays Crysis on all-high settings in 32bit XP with DX9 at 1152x864 (avg 35 frame/s) with very few drops into the low 20s fps wise. (24-30 fps in this game is usually considered playable, btw). Excellent post processing keeps this game looking smooth at low frame rates compared to most games.

1024x768: 37.87fps

Really broke and have a low-resolution screen? You can still play crysis smoothly on high. Those of you with 1280x720 wide, consul
