3 out of 5 eggsI'm on the fence

Pros: It's hard to post the pros without ignoring price.

Cons: For four hundred and thirty bucks, I expected so much more.

I'm running dual monitors. I get flickers everywhere, and black screens in BC2.

Why do I need to enable overdrive to control the fan!? IT MAKES NO SENSE.

The cost of this card makes no sense either.

Other Thoughts: I'm seriously angry right now. This card was such a waste of my money. I haven't seen a single game that has justified my upgrade from an 8800gt.

4 out of 5 eggsDay 3

Pros: C'mon, we know the pros. It's a high end card meant to play the latest games the way they're meant to be played. People don't read these for the pros though so on to the cons...

Cons: I'll list everything I've learned so far.
First - at 100% fan speed, it is loud. About as loud as a hand held vacuum. For those posting it's not loud, it's because they are at the default 21%

Overdrive must be enabled to control the fan.

Overdrive causes monitor to flicker when running dual monitors.

Other Thoughts: When you setup your system and use the hdmi port, it defaults to the primary display. If you see your monitors on the display settings, #1 is hdmi, #2 will be one of the dvi ports.

I wish I hadn't bought this thing. It seems really buggy right now, and of course, I'll hold on to hit hoping drivers will get better. It was this or a 470 honestly. I should have gone nvidia again. I haven't had an ATI card since the X1950XT and that cheap piece of crop went back right away for an 8800gts lol.

Anyways, if you're into mild gaming, this is an overkill.

I'll post more as I use it more.

5 out of 5 eggsFAST!

Pros: My first ATI card since the 8500 series. I had a lot of trouble with that card and had owned an nvidia board ever since. The 5870 is amazing. Upgraded from a GTX 285 and have the 5870 clocked at 1000 Mhz on water. Card never goes above 50C under Furmark.

Cons: None so far!

5 out of 5 eggsI'm impressed

Pros: This card is amazing. After much debating I decided to go ATI (I haven't in since my Radeon 9600). I'm happy with it so far. I went with the XFX xxx edition just because of the peace of mind.
The card is a beast. I get 30-60fps in Crysis on Ultra @ 1920x1080. SC Conviction hold 60fps solid with vsync enabled. WoW runs flawlessly. Borderlands runs perfect.
I will eventually get another to Crossfire them.

Cons: The card idles between 38 and 41C. If I crank the fan up to 100% I can get it down to 31C but it sounds like a jet is hovering over my room. It's terribly loud. The ATI driver package is nothing compared to Nvidia's, but hopefully that will improve.

So fan sound level and driver package are the only cons I can think of. Other than price, but you get what you pay for. :)

Not happy with XFX or ATI.

1 out of 5 eggsDON'T BUY THIS ONE!

Pros: Um..... cool looking card.

Cons: Quality, quality, quality. The first card from Newegg cause Windows BlueScreenofDeaths, display going to all gray, display going to all black, video noise, game freezes, and driver exceptions. After 3 weeks of fussing with XFX, the card was finally RMA'd. The replacement card was better, but had much more video noise in all windows, making it almost impossible to type text and really annoying in game play. Many games couldn't be painted properly on the display at all. So I'm sending it back for another RMA. While these ATI cards are in the mail, I've been using a much less expensive (saving me $250) PNY NVidia GTS 250 1GB video card which plays all the latest games (i.e., Crysis) in clear perfect display, with no exceptions, no driver issues, no paint issues, and no noise. Go for the NVidia card and save lots of money.

Other Thoughts: As noted above, choose NVidia over ATI every time. Really.
