5 out of 5 eggsGood enough for BF3

Pros: This card is amazing. It runs BF3 at 1650x1050 resolution at 50 FPS in crossfire on max settings. They get a little bogged down in heavy gunfire when there are a lot of planes around but it has yet to dip below 20 frames. If you can get these used somewhere for a good price, I would highly recommend them.

Cons: The only con I can think of while writing this is the fact that they are old. There are a lot newer cards which are way better. You also can no longer purchase them which is somewhat a con.

Other Thoughts: Build:
2 XFX Radeon HD 5830 cards
Corsair Force GT SSD
2 OCZ Black Edition 1600 Ram(4x2GB)
Corsair 750W power supply
AMD Phenom II 965 Black Edition Processor
Sony BD-R

4 out of 5 eggsVery pleased vs old 8800GTX

Pros: I am very pleased with this card so far. I play a lot of WoW and was able to increase my viewing distance several notches and move shadows up a notch and still gain a few FPS. My limitation now is my aging Q6600 G0 cpu @ 3.0ghz. I have only used the 1.4 catalyst drivers so far, but thats because they seem to be stable. If it aint broke. Temps are good in my CM690 case with a side mounted 120mm fan blowing directly onto the card. I have not noticed any increase in CPU or motherboard tempurature even though this card does not exaust hot air out the rear of the case like the GTX did. I attribute this to the 5830s much lower idle and load temps. XFXs cooler is undetectably quiet in comparison to my CNPS9700 cpu cooler.

Cons: My only problem so far has been some shadow flickering in WoW. I have had no crashes so I believe this is driver/game related. The flickering is not listed as a fixed item as of catalyst 10.6 which is part of why I have not updated yet.

Other Thoughts: It was nice to get a free copy of AVP with this but the download from steam takes a while. After the price comes down some I intend to purchase a second and crossfire them (yeah I know WoW doesnt really benefit from sli/crossfire but thats just the game of the moment).

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Card

Pros: Runs Bad Company 2 smoothly at all settings maxed 1680 x 1050

Dual DVI, HDMI, and a Display port!

Easily overclocks to 5850, 5870

Fan is quiet on stock settings.

Free game!

Cons: Overclocking requires adjusting the fan speed to at least 70% to keep temperatures under 65c load.

The fan is loud at 70%

Other Thoughts: I plan on purchasing 1-2 of these when the price falls closer to $100 for a crossfire set up. They will be liquid cooled at that point.

I was with the other guys, but XFX is a reputable company so it made the transition less painful. Make sure you register your card for that awesome lifetime warranty!

5 out of 5 eggsGreat when it works

Pros: Great speed, handles games with ease.

Cons: is pretty big and had to be careful installing not to hit against other components in case

Other Thoughts: first one I got was defective and had a faulty power connector, still got 5 eggs cause when it works its great, and newegg's RMA was really easy, they deff get points for customer service.

1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: None

Cons: I received this from new egg put it in and it just wouldn't work. it didn't display anything It was just a defective video card so maybe just bad luck, but I dislike this video card.

5 out of 5 eggsgreat card

Pros: Runs everything I throw at it with high settings at 1920x1080. L4d2, Mass Effect, GTAIV, and AVP. I can't wait to see what this thing will do when I get a second one in a year or so. Easily overclocks to 900/1200.

System stats

Phenom 2 965 @ 3.8
Corsair DDR3 1600
Gigabyte 890gpa-ud3h
XFX 5830 @ 900/1200
WD 74GB raptor
Antec 500

Cons: I see no cons with this card, it's a great price, for great performance.

Other Thoughts: Others are mentioning a heat issue with this card and are having to turn the fan up to 100%. I have have a 120mm fan on my side panel directly over the video card, and I haven't had any heat issues, nor have I had to adjust the fan beyond default. I would recommend this over adjusting the fan, as it is fairly loud and annoying at 100%.

5 out of 5 eggsTriple Monitors?

Pros: I can run Bad Company 2, Modern Warfare 2, Starcraft II, HL2, Counterstrike Source, GRID, Left 4 Dead 2, Geometry Wars at the highest settings possible.

Photoshop, Dreamweaver and Illustrator during work hours without hesitation.

I'm very happy with this GPU, hope it can stand up against Crysis & Crysis 2...

Cons: I just bought a third monitor off Craigslist for work (Acer AL2216W). I figured my main would run HDMI and both my extended Acer's would run DVI (or atleast one DVI, and VGA KVM Switch). I was not able to get all three monitors working. I read on a couple websites that users were having issues getting three monitors working. Most of the answers were "you need a ACTIVE DisplayPort adapter" for Eyefinity to work. All the reviews I read prior to purchasing this GPU made it out to sound like it would support triple monitor right off the bat. I am not familiar with Eyefinity, nor do I have an ACTIVE DisplayPort adapter or the necessary approved hardware to test Eyefinity.

If someone knows how to get triple monitors working without Eyefinity and an active DisplayPort Adapter, please let me and the rest of NewEgg know... Otherwise, expect using a second GPU.

Luckily I have a spare HD 4600 laying around, so I am able to utilize all 3 of my monitors... my uBuntu Box doesn't need it :)

Other Thoughts: I was hoping to run three monitors off this one 5800 series and use my KVM for uBuntu box. I know it sounds like overkill but I use my uBuntu box for work dev / testing scripts on LAMP. I also use VMWare and XP Mode in win7, but sometimes I need my server up 24/7 in case I'm at a coffee shop or SSH'd in via iPhone... DON'T JUDGE! Nerd's are taking over the world :)

5 out of 5 eggsAbsolute Beast!!

Pros: Runs Starcraft 2 on highest settings with ease...
Idles at 28c, heats up to 34 running SC2.

Cons: HUGE CARD!! But fits in my NZXT case easily though it cuts down on airflow, just position fans properly.

Other Thoughts: Comes CrossFire ready, so in a year or two ill just order another and stick that baby in there.

Impressed so far, though it has only been about a week.

4 out of 5 eggsExcellent Card... But...

Pros: Awesome card, but it is huge. Card has no problems being overclocked to 900mhz gpu / 1200mhz memory. FPS is decent on high resolutions, can't wait to see what it does when I can crossfire two of these cards!

Cons: Fan Speed: 21% factory default. Card was running extremely hot even at stock settings with minimal load, until I used the CCC ATI Overdrive to enable manual control of the fan speed. Bumped it to 100%.

Other Thoughts: This card is HUGE. Make sure you measure your case before venturing into buying this card. If you're going to crossfire two of them, make sure you have a full size tower or a mid-size tower with plenty of space and cooling(liquid cooling? :D

5 out of 5 eggsWhoot!

Pros: So far....WOW. Runs cool, runs fast. Completely inaudible. Comes with free AvP download on Steam Client (not impressed with the game, but the card dominates it). Burns through every game I've tried so far. Great value to performance ratio IMHO.

Cons: Zero. Zip. Nada. Actually, no temperature sensor? Dunno if that's just me but my typical monitoring program doesn't pick it up. I had to move an extra sensor near it to how cool it was. And it is. So it deserves no gripes for this, as it runs so cool I won't ever be worrying about it.

Other Thoughts: Consider your airflow before purchase. My case has enough fans pointing in the right directions to still port the air out the back of the case. Remember this isn't a blower style fan so you can't have the air statically cycling over the heat sink and then back over it again.
