3 out of 5 eggsfine enough

Pros: nice card, its cheap and gets the job done.

Cons: the most recent drivers cause some problems so unless you stick to the drivers on the disk your going to get frustrated. ex not displaying, resolution issues, and more.

Other Thoughts: no more drivers will be released as far as i know.

Manufacturer Response:

Thank you for the great review. We are happy you are pleased.

2 out of 5 eggsWas good for 2 1/2 yrs

Pros: This card worked nicely with my system, Im not a super gamer but I have a custom pc that is connected to my tv to watch media and play games occasionally.
This card did the job for me, while it lasted.

Cons: The card lasted 2 1/2yrs and just died the other day. While in the middle of playing a game my entire PC shut off. After a while of troubleshooting and thinking it was the PSU, I found out it was this card that was preventing the system from turning on at all(no fans/lights nothing) Once removed from the mobo my PC booted fine.
Wish it lasted longer, seeing as how I barely push the limit of it, I play games once or twice a month and watch movies about the same. Other than that it was just sending signal to my monitor.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello, This card may still be under warranty, have you tried creating a ticket at xfxsupport.com? Thanks

5 out of 5 eggsStill running strong after over a year

Pros: Best bang for the buck, runs most my games on a customized high setting (minus shadows mainly lol) @60fps.

Cons: I just ordered a 7870 I think I may shed a tear when I retire this card.

1 out of 5 eggsNot one of my better purchases

Pros: It was a great price for a capable series graphics card at the time i bought it.

Cons: Card kept freezing on 2 differnt systems and even on a fresh install the same issues.

Other Thoughts: I wish i could offer some fix for owners of this card with the same problem but tho i tried every trick in the book every attempt was shall we say futile.

Manufacturer Response:

We are sorry to hear that you have had a problem. Please contact our support staff at xfxforce.com. They can help troubleshoot your problem and offer RMA service if it is needed. Thank you.

5 out of 5 eggsNice Card

Pros: Decently quiet, multiple ports, runs most games pretty well.

Cons: The fan is a little large.

Other Thoughts: Everything was working fine for a while, but then I started to get bluescreens with the newer drivers. Specifically the recent 12.2 drivers. Contacted XFX and they pointed me to their updated BIOS for the card. (Just look for the xfxstorage website, and look under the 4850 driver.)

Updated it everything seems to be working fine after that.

And I guess other people have had problems, but XFX got back to my ticket that same day.

Manufacturer Response:

We are happy to hear that you are enjoying your purchase. If you ever have any questions then please feel free to contact our support staff at xfxforce.com. Thank you.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent for the money.

Pros: Top of the line card in its day that still has the muscle to run most games on high.
Single slot, good for small and mid tower cases.
Runs cool (40C idle, 60C load).

Cons: Buggy with certain Catalyst drivers. I'm sure that at least half the problems people have with this card are due to the driver and not the card itself. Fortunately, I'm running Catalyst 12.1 with no problems; but if you stick to the native drivers on the installation CD, you'll be fine.

Other Thoughts: MSI Afterburner has never recognized the driver for this card, while other MSI and video card control programs do. Wierd...

1 out of 5 eggsGood Performance

Pros: Good card. The cost was very reasonable for a 256-bit GPU.

Cons: GDDR3. Oh, and it's an XFX.
I've had 2 different XFX 4850s, one of which a friend gave me after he received it back in RMA from XFX. Which took them 2+ weeks. The 4850 my friend gave me started making the same high-pitched whine under load that many other XFX AMD cards have done (do a search on Google). I sent my card in about 2 weeks ago. It takes 2-3 days for the support department to respond to my questions. Then on Saturday (6 days ago) they said the card status was FAULTY. They also said a technician would get with me shortly to discuss the closure of the RMA. Two days ago I asked when I might get my RMA and they said "We'll keep you updated." As a warning to prospective XFX customers, DON'T buy XFX. If you ever have a problem with your card, it will take them WEEKS to get you a resolution.

Other Thoughts: See cons.

4 out of 5 eggsStill runs perfectly

Pros: great card! Maxes out a lot of games and runs great, never had a problem with it when I updates my PSU.

Cons: can't max out all games, I guess that's because its single slot and is getting to the point where I'll have to replace it. Don't like the design AT ALL.

Other Thoughts: i don't know what this driver problem is people are having, running latest catalyst and it works.

OVERALL:
great card for budget, will play any game you throw at it, just don't max it out.

3 out of 5 eggsgood and bad

Pros: card works great, plays games at a decent frame rate, the price after rebate should have been 60, hasn't died, and it can play the diablo 3 beta.

Cons: card works only if you never update Catalyst control center, 11.5 works but the newer update breaks all functionality. black screen, random flickering, and artifacts.

the Mail in Rebate was a lie. sent mine in the same day i received the card but never heard back from xfx. This is actually the 3rd mail in rebate that i have submitted to them with the same results. The support from xfx is not the best.

Other Thoughts: I don't regret this purchase but I don't recommend it.

3 out of 5 eggsmobility...

Pros: Cheap
Fast

Cons: Mobility Radeon 4850 GPU
Requires BIOS flash for proper operation
Requires Mobility Radeon driver for proper operation
Card does not wake up after resume from sleep

Other Thoughts: See reviews below for instructions of how to fix this. I had to uninstall all my amd drivers and use VGA driver to run the autodetect utility and install the correct driver. Will not come out of sleep, my power supply is a 650w and people use GeForce GTX 460 with it so I know it's not that.
