5 out of 5 eggs4 years without a hitch

Pros: I installed this card back in February of 2011 and it has lasted me until now. Even when I retired the card last week, March 2015, - it was running all the latest games on close to max settings. If you happen by one of these cards used or in a store somewhere, it is worth the few bucks it will cost. This is a quality card, and I recommend it highly.

Cons: Not a new card.

Manufacturer Response:

Great, Thank you for the great review. We appreciate your continued support.

If you have any questions, let me know.

Thank you

5 out of 5 eggsStill Goin Strong...

Pros: i realize newegg is not carrying this item anymore but i just wanted to write a review to all those possibly purchasing this card somewhere else...
i bought my card when it first came out, about 3 years ago, and it is still going strong! i play WoW mostly and can run on ultra settings with exceptional quality. i just bought another one to crossfire them (found it on that auction site)
very happy with this card! buy one if you can find it...

Cons: very hard to find now...
its a bit on the GIGANTIC side, its very long and it takes up 2 slots (covering my pci-e x1) fortunately i have a full atx case :)
requires (2) 6-pin power plugs, but if your PS cant handle that its time to upgrade anyway!
ummmm, theres no lights in it???

Other Thoughts: almost bought a gtx770 but found this instead.... only time will tell if it was a good choice but so far im 100% happy

Manufacturer Response:

Thank you for the positive review. Dont forget to register your 2nd card for your lifetime warranty.

Play Hard.

1 out of 5 eggsGreat Card - Horrible RMA Service

Pros: Fast card. Works with pretty much every game out there.

Cons: I had screen tearing issue with this card since I bought it. I thought that it was something that I was doing but I was wrong. I replaced my card with my old 4800 series ati and screen tearing went away. I sent it in to XFX for RMA and it's about about a month now and I still don't have my card back. They told me that there was no issues and that maybe it could be a driver issue. Even though I put this card in a new build. This is the last time I will ever buy anything from xfx. I should have learned my lesson the first time with my gts 250.

5 out of 5 eggsXFX Radeon HD 6870 The Beast

Pros: bought my from another store Newegg was out of them. bought it to go in my 1st build from Newegg. I have had no problems at all with this card went on line down loaded the latest drivers and have upgraded them since then, when gaming it get's about 69c on the web or watching movies about 43c. i have 8 fans in my case not counting the PSU fan or the fan on the card it self. also not counting the big 120mm on my after market heat sink, which is a Cooler Master Gemni ll low profile so i would not have to take my 140mm blue fan off the side of the case. this card is overclocked to 940 and runs smooth as glass. I can Play any game i want at top settings very smooth i get on some games to140 FPS. Movies on my Samsung P2250 look like i am there watching in person.

Cons: none, Notha. i have had it since August and have had no Problems with it.

Other Thoughts: thinking about buying another and running a Crossfire with them. i would get it if you can still find them . i have only found a few, but they are still higher than i paid for mine. 183.00 free shipping. now the lowest i can find them is 205.00.
Cooler master 690 ll advanced case with 8 cooler master fans all blue.
AMD Phenom ll x 6 1090t over clocked to 3.8 stable. Cooler master Gemni ll heat sink cooler, Keeps my baby at 30c at idle and 46c on full bore, Seagate Barracuda 1TB 7300 hard drive.
16 Gigs of GSkill Sniper running at 1600, can go to 1800. all on a Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3 Mother board. A Zephyr 750W PSU 80Plus Bronze, Lightscibe 24 times DVD burner, and a SAMSUNG SyncMaster P2250 22" Monitor. This is my 1st build and bought all most all of it at Newegg. Thanks Newegg for the Videos on how to build your on PC. Getting ready to build my 2cnd now.

3 out of 5 eggsOverheats

Pros: Works great, really has a substantial amount of ability, and can run almost any game with no problem. My only bottleneck as far as performance was concerned was my processor, which once upgraded made my computer unstoppable.

Cons: The only thing stopping my computer is my video card's inability to keep "cool". In reality, the card is pretty cool whenever it "overheats" (I'd say around 55 F or so) and will simply refuse to work. I'm getting a new video card tomorrow because this has happened too many times.

The video card simply dislikes a lot of straightforward things: closed cases, temperatures above 55 F, and the like. This also happens even if I am not heavily gaming; recently it has happened when I am simply logging back in after it has already decided to crash.

I remember the last time it crashed, I opened up the case and pointed a floor fan at it, which seemed to let it work for the time. Then it got to the point that I could close it back up, and now it is not only going back to open case, but won't work even with the floor fan.

Seriously, if you don't live in an igloo don't get this thing. If you do, get it.

Other Thoughts: Works like a dream in cold conditions.

5 out of 5 eggs5 Egg Product Here

Pros: You can't go wrong with XFX or this card. It is an absolutely solid performer. I can run Deus Ex on max settings 1920x1200 smooth as silk on an (overclocked to 3.6ghz) AMD 955 quad core with 4GB DDR1600. XFX backs their products with a TRANSFERABLE lifetime warranty. Awesome selling point when you go to sell your old XFX card later, and how can you go wrong with a lifetime warranted product from a company that will actually honor that? On top of all that, I got a great $30 rebate coming back, effectively making the card $160 AND 3 GOOD GAMES! AMD was handing out Deus Ex Steam codes before release day! How about some Shogun 2 as well? Not enough? How about XFX throws in Dirt 3 to sweeten it up that much more??!?!?!? Not to mention all the Black Edition goodies XFX throws in. LOTS of stickers & swag, & they even throw in a fairly high grade metal stick-on emblem for those that really wanna let the world know what's in that case.

Cons: None I can find even when searching. The card is a rock solid performer, it looks great cosmetically, the fan is quiet it keeps pretty cool during gaming, the warranty is the best in the industry that I know of, it comes with all types of XFX swag & free games, AND was cheap.... I really cannot find anything to be critical of or pick on.

Other Thoughts: A note to both AMD & XFX:

The free games bundled with this card TOTALLY sealed the deal for me. I was ok with my old XFX card but since I was buying Deus Ex anyway, it only made sense to step up my hardware for the additional $110 - AND score Dirt 3 ($40) & Shogun 2 ($20). It was a no brainer really....

I bought another XFX card 2 years ago that had bundled games as well. If you guys keep this up you will ALWAYS have guys like me knocking on your door when it's time to pick up some new hardware. It's refreshing to see companies not being completely greedy and actually putting something out their for their loyal customers.

AMD & XFX have most certainly (time & time again actually) earned my business & trust in the quality and value of their products.

5 out of 5 eggsQuite a Steal for the Price

Pros: Runs all new games at high or ultra settings with 40+ fps. The card came with Shogun 2 when I bought (now they are offering Deus Ex) and that ran about 25-30 fps on max settings. Some lag may be from my processor, it's only rated at 4 GHz.
Nevertheless, I haven't had any issues with running these games on near max settings:

>Team Fortress 2
>Just Cause 2
>From Dust
>DiRT3 (was another promotional gift)

I don't even overclock it. The Max temperature I've seen is 60 degrees Celsius, after a marathon of gaming (I have the WORST cooling system, I don't even have a case fan).

It scores 7.6 on both graphics scales of the Windows Experience Index, which ranks your computer's performance with various tasks using a 1.0 - 7.9 system.

Cons: Some hardcore enthusiasts may want to wait for the ATI Radeon HD 7*** series, but for someone who wants to get into *performance* PC gaming, this card is great.

P.S.: Be mindful of the card's immense size. I have an average sized case, and I had to move my HDD to fit it in. Also, I couldn't fit the screws in to secure it because it has a slight slant to it. But it still works great.

Other Thoughts: This card is on par with other $300 ones. Right now, it is ALMOST the best card out there. However, for the money, you can turn you computer into a high performance machine for less than the cost of an XBOX (assuming you buy a $60 PSU for the card)

5 out of 5 eggsGets the job done

Pros: Reliable High performance Video card.
Great frame-rates and excellent clarity too.
The one time transferable Lifetime warranty is a nice touch. I sold my XFX HD5850 Radeon Black to my next door neighbor and XFX transferred it's Lifetime warranty to him. It makes it easy to move out your older cards if you can give the buyers the full warranty too.

Cons: Should have bought two of them.

Other Thoughts: I never had any problems with my fan making noise, but those of you who do should just send it in for repair and be done with it.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Card

Pros: What can i say, its been a great card. Had it about 8 months and havent had any issues since a driver update while back.

Fast as anything ive seen, first used on a 780g amd board and now a 990fx ud5. runs everything at it best.

Cons: Not really a con since the fan never goes to max anyways, but it can get loud past around 55 percent. at 100% it sounds like a vacuum cleaner and moves about as much air as one.

Other Thoughts: Overall its a great card. I cant wait to crossfire with another one for battlefield 3!
