5 out of 5 eggsYearly review

Pros: This is a good low to mid range card. It is not going to run any decent games at ultra unless you like old style movie pictures where you can literally see the gaps in frames.

BF3 low 60-80FPS, mid 40-50FPS, high 25-35 fps, ultra you can blink your eye at a faster rate.

Cons: Will not play BF3 on max settings and still be playable, if you like 20-30fps then more power to you but in a game where hundredths of a second can make a difference, if you are not at your monitors refresh rate of at least 60FPS then forget about it, you're gonna get owned.

Card throws a fit at 75C - 77C and just freezes until it drops below 70C then comes back to life.

Other Thoughts: Save your money and go for the next gen, in 6 months to a year it will be the price this one is at today.

4 out of 5 eggsWow it's been a year...

Pros: Plays *my* games at near max settings on a C2D machine... amazing. For the price it was excellent value. I also got the rebate without issue.

Cons: The drivers didn't work right from AMD's site. I had to let Win7 pick my drivers and it was smooth sailing. I just recently installed the latest 13.1 drivers and they seem to be working fine now.

3 out of 5 eggsGood for the price

Pros: Excellent bang for the buck! So far this card has not failed to run everything I can get my hands on. Bought 4/25/12

Cons: Was a perfect card up until two days ago 12/12/12 when one of the fans started to make a odd ticking noise. I have heard this type of noise before and it usually signal a imminent hardware failure. I have removed the card and made sure there where no obstructions to cause the ticking noise. Searching for after market fans for it now.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello, We're sorry your having an overheating issue. Its probably a faulty fan or a fan interference. Either way this card is in warranty and we would be happy to fix it. Please contact us at neweggsupport@xfxforce.com for a replacement cooler/fan.

5 out of 5 eggsBest Price/Performance Ratio in its class.

Pros: Runs most current games at full settings at 1080p with ease. Helps to have the latest drivers.

Run fairly cool compared to some other cards out there in market.

Cons: There was an issue after shipment to my client where a green line would appear across her screen. This was not detected in my 72 hour burn in tests.

Fix was resolved by reinstalling Windows 7 with fresh drivers. Has since caused no issues. Also not worth dropping an egg as I couldn't verify the card had anything to do with it per say.

Other Thoughts: Very nice packaging, XFX folks have a great design team and I hope they continue further down the minimalist packaging while keeping a sharp edge in details.

5 out of 5 eggsI Feel Like A Dirt Bag

Pros: Ill tell you what, don't spend $500 on a GTX 680 and here's why XFX 6870 Test OVERCLOCKING BURN-IN SCORE: 4964 points (49135 frames, 54 °C, 54 FPS)
GPU temperatures (start/end): 46°C / 59°C. To achieve this score it take about 2 weeks of tweaking and water cooling, Afterburner, Trixx, and CCC(AMD OverDrive) I use FurMark Burn-in tests to test for stability and keep an eye on my temps.

My other Pc runs with a EVGA GeForce GTX 680
Overclocking BURN-IN SCORE: 4604 points (45747 frames, 81 °C, 50 FPS)??? what how you might ask, well that B***** overheats even with water cooling

NO overclocking and No water cooling
XFX DoubleDissipation: 2224 points (37 FPS)
GPU: 900MHz
Mem: 1050MHz
GPU temp: 68-69°C

EVGA GeForce GTX 680: 2699 points (44 FPS)
GPU: 1005MHz
Mem: 3004MHz
GPU temp: 74°C

All the test include
Bench duration: 900 seconds
Resolution: 1920 x 1080
MSAA samples: 0
Window mode: fullscreen

To put it into simple words great GPU its a steal for only $180 then you got that XFX LifeTime warranty, Its like their throwing money at you.

OverClocked Everything MAXXED OUT
Skyrim 90-95 FPS
BF3 - 80 FPS
Warz - 79-83 FPS
Blackops2 - 75-78 FPS
Killing Floor - 135 fps
PlantSide2 - 50-60FPS in big battles 38-42 FPS

Cons: It should be illegal to sell cards this good for this cheap.

4 out of 5 eggsDecent Card - Can Play Games

Pros: I play everything 1080p and games run fine. Now fine doesn't mean that it runs ultra in everything, but you definitely have some room to play with current games to bounce between higher fps and graphics. I mostly play bf3, mostly medium settings(auto under bf3), not sure of frame rate but I don't notice any major slowdown.
1st gpu purchased, and I was extremely happy with XFX and wanted to get a 7870 DD but newegg sold out. I have no knowledge of XFX prior to my purchase and thought they had excellent customer service (had an issue with registering the card - they stayed in contact via email within hours).

Cons: My only con really deals with some of the reviewers who tell you that they can run bf3 in ultra with billions of fps. I bought into some of the hoopla thinking I could do more with this card than I actually good.

It runs just fine as long as you don't expect 1080 60+fps on BF3.
