5 out of 5 eggsReview after 2 years of service

Pros: My Radeon HD 6850 has exceeded all my expectations. After 2 years of usage, I have had no issues with it.

The Radeon HD 6850 plays most games with high quality settings with very little FPS drop. This does vary on the game. Newer games need more, so the settings must be calibrated to better fit the game. When it calls for overclocking, it has no problems being pushed. But, even with newer games, it still impresses me with the high level of graphical detail with little FPS loss.

Cons: Though the Radeon HD 6850 doesn't have heating issues when it is maintained, it can quickly get out of hand if not properly cared for. The Radeon HD 6850 is a powerful video card which means it will generate more heat than your average video card. Overclocking this card makes it worse. Either way, it will need room to vent. Like all CPUs and GPUs, cooling equals stability and a long lifespan. If you are skilled enough to add thermal compound to the GPU, then make this a 6 month to a 1 year habit. Due to its protective case, it has a tendency to accumulate dust more so, making it very important to blow the dust away. If unchecked, the dust will become a real problem, potentially causing the fan to fail and the video card to overheat, thus killing the Radeon HD 6850.

The only other problem that I am now faced with is finding a Crossfire partner for my 6850. Since the 6850 and 6870 are compatible Crossfire cards, it only comes down to finding either card at a reasonable price.

Other Thoughts: Keep your Radeon HD 6850 happy and it will make you happy.

4 out of 5 eggsGood Deal

Pros: Plays every game I throw at it with good FPS. Good price when bundled with psu. Was a good purchase and card performs well as long as it stays cool.

Cons: With stock dell 570 case was a tight fit. had to use angle sata connectors for hdd's. Can be noisy under heavy load. Also I have to upgrade case for better cooling. This card tends to get hot during extended gaming with the stock case and fans.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Killer graphics for the price, had an awesome dual monitor setup with the dual plugs.

Cons: Won't let me attach an HDMI device and have the 2 monitors at the same time, as if it only does 2 at a time.

Other Thoughts: Really wish it would do 3+ monitors with this setup

5 out of 5 eggsWEI 7.7

Pros: Runs everything well so far, came with the VGA adapter I needed. WEI 7.7

Not only did it come with the advertised Shogun2 coupon in the shipping box, but also STRYKER Call of Pripyat inside the product box itself; also qualified for a Dirt3 coupon when I registered it. That's 3 free games!

Cons: Benchmarked a little below the standard 6850 on passmark. Also was advertised with a rebate offer that did not actually cover this model, though not a huge deal; double-check every rebate before you buy.

Other Thoughts: Running well with FX processor and 990 mobo

Pros: Card works great, still a little loud stock but not overly noticeable if you have sound playing.

Cons: Didn't get my game coupon :(

5 out of 5 eggsShould have bought 2

Pros: Great performance and has pushed every game at least 40 FPS minimum. For those of you who need more than that, well, it is Crossfire ready. Max it has pushed was 97 FPS in the games I have played with it. But hell, if a television runs at 30 FPS, seamlessly, I doubt you will notice the difference. I am also not overclocking anything!!!

Cons: Haven't found any yet, although, while installing I had a few bumps in the road. But nothing that a few "BASIC" troubleshooting skills didn't take care of. I blame that totally on my inexperience and lack of Rig building experience.

Other Thoughts: So far, this has been good to go and I have no problems once the PC fired up. Just wish I would have bought 2 so I can Crossfire them. I don't know if I would have even noticed the difference anyway. But would have been cool for the bragging rights!

4 out of 5 eggsBig Bang for the Buck

Pros: Value Gaming Card that only requires a single 6 pin power connector. 960 Shaders, 48 texture units and 32 Rasters (compared to 16 on the 6770 or 6790). Improved eyefinity and tessellation (direct X 11) compared to 5K series. Often these cards have excellent overclock potential (power users). XFX is one of the best customer support I have dealt with :)

Cons: Less shaders than a 5850 (last generation) 960 vs 1440. Unless you are running Direct X 11 (and on heavy tessellation), do not expect this card to outperform the 5850.
This model has a very simple cooler that is not any more effective than the reference design.

Other Thoughts: Worth the extra buck compared to a 6770 or 6790. 6850's are one of AMD's best cards offered.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat budget card

Pros: Good all around gaming card. Lifetime warranty, even if they do send me refurbed cards is a great investment. Does an okay job at cooling. Remember 256 bit is the way to go.

Cons: Missing egg is for the loud fans(on max they sound terrible), the process of downloading drivers on their site is poorly done and the shell of the card is cheap plastic.

Other Thoughts: I got this when there was a $20 promo and a $30 rebate + it came with 3 games Dues ex human revolution, Dirt 3, and stalker call of pipyrat. When I get the rebate, that means the card would have cost me $100. If you add the games you almost break even.

4 out of 5 eggsSolid Mid-range card

Pros: Solid card that will run even the latest games without a problem. Bought it mostly for BF3 and Skyrim.

-Runs very cool compared to other 6850's and the competitor 460 GTX.

-Runs Battlefield 3 BETA on High settings at over 40 fps. So far no problems with tearing or heat. (at 1440x900)

-Easily overclocks to the max settings allowed by ATI Overdrive.

*Bought this at $149 with a $30 MIR and free copy of Deus Ex: Human Revolution and S.T.A.L.K.E.R included. Couldn't beat that deal.

Cons: -Loud card. Even at idle speeds it was definitely a noisemaker. I prefer noise over heat, though, and this card certainly keeps its cool under strain.

Other Thoughts: System:

MSI Z68MA-G45
Intel i5 2500k (OCed to 4.2Ghz)
Corsair Vengeance 8GB DDR3 (1600)
XFX Radeon 6850 HD
System running at 1440x900
